What are the astrological significators of radicalism and terrorism? That falls under the category of Uranus, the shock and trauma planet. Fundamentalist religious viewpoints and invasions fall under Sagittarius. Pluto and Scorpio are the signatures for the obsessive and subversive elements, also for hostile take-overs, hostage taking, corruption, death, and murder. Martyrs fall under Pisces/Virgo. Continuing in Aries to 2019, Uranus will keep alive such matters as radicalization and terrorism. While the Uranus/Pluto transit that began in 2012 will complete in 2015, we will continue to experience their anything goes intensity through the spring of 2016. As of late December, Saturn advanced into Sagittarius. It is a signature for the distorted beliefs at the root of Isil and the terrorist surge. This building reality is not one that will fade away any time soon. Through 2017, Saturn in Sagittarius will continue to see Isil, Boko Haram, and other such murderous groups recruit, infiltrate, kill, and grow with great fervour.
There has been no let up on the terrorist threat level and a number of arrests have made in various countries including Canada since the Charlie Hebdo Paris Massacre on Jan 7, 2015 that claimed 17 lives. As of this writing (Jan 18) Europe continues on high alert edge, watching for “when”, not “if”. Belgium, France, and England have beefed up military presence on the streets. An anti-terrorist sweep on the weekend of Jan 16, 2015 has led to more than two dozen arrests in several countries. Reports suggest as many as 20 sleeper cells of between 120 and 180 people could be ready to strike in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. European Union and Middle East intelligence agencies identified an “imminent threat” to Belgium and possibly to the Netherlands.
Mercury in Aquarius turns retrograde on January 21, 2015 For a day so prior to retrograde, Mercury will appear to slow down in orbit. This is called a station phase – it is an intensification influence. (The energy patterns become “denser” or more potent; they are developing to a saturation point during the station phase.) As is typical of the cycle, Mercury retrograde can mess with you when you least expect it. It’s even more so when Mercury turns retrograde in Aquarius, the sign of the unexpected.
Freedom has several astrological significators. The lengthier transits of Saturn in Sagittarius, Venus and Mercury in Aquarius (to March 12), Uranus in Aries, Mars, Neptune and Chiron in Pisces will continue to keep this topic of critical concern. The faster moving bodies, Venus, Mercury, and Mars will keep the day to day action going strong through the next two months as they make their way through Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries.
Mars in Pisces is a collective conscious raising influence. Whenever Pisces is emphasized, we become attuned as one. Mercury, the communications planet, and Venus, the relativity and relationship planet, travelling through Aquarius have put a gutsy wind under our wings. We’ve already seen good evidence regarding the massive turn out to stand in solidarity for Charlie Hebdo. We the people continue to stand as one with our neighbours for freedom of speech, individual rights, and humanitarian cause.
