Jupiter in Virgo, August 11, 2015 to September 9, 2016

 Jupiter in Virgo: August 11, 2015 to Sept 9, 2016; retrograde January 7 to May 9, 2016

Jupiter’s one year tour through Virgo will focus more attention on necessity, correction, health, healing, and upgrades. As the transit progresses, we’ll learn what’s doable and workable, and what’s not. Just as the US Republican presidential nominee race will demonstrate, we are at the start of a major weeding out process. Thanks to Virgo’s talent for elimination, sorting through who or what doesn’t suit the job should prove to be a relatively quick and easy process. It may not always be painless though. Want to know what’s on Virgo’s cheat sheet? It has found that one of the most expedient/effective ways to get the job done is by making it go “ouch” first.

The coming year of Jupiter in Virgo will most definitely increase our work. It can also increase our complaints, anxieties, vulnerabilities, and crises. As the archer archetype, when Jupiter tenants Virgo, it is exceptionally skilled at targeting what’s weak, what’s necessary, or what’s most expedient. To the plus, the transit can upgrade our efficiency and proficiency. A critical eye is another one of Virgo’s talents.

Jupiter maximizes and Virgo minimizes. Will the two cancel themselves out? This is highly unlikely. Rather, we can get overly focused, consumed, or challenged by the overly-diminished or depleted. We can see large attempts to downplay or minimize, or we can see something small blown up to something big. We can be exposed to overly simplified or thinly veiled versions of truth, while on the other hand we also get an overly inflated or overly complicated version of the story. The same goes for our inner chatter. We can become our own worst critic, or we can turn it out outward and target another. Our work is to sort out fact from fiction. In this regard, Virgo is a talented editor.

While Jupiter is very good at aiming for the target, it can miss a lot of the detail. Tunnel vision is a weak point for Jupiter in Virgo. On the other hand, Jupiter in Virgo also has a problem with including too many sidetracks and details. When this happens it waters down the ability to stay on target and to deliver with impact. Jupiter is considered in its detriment in Virgo. What this means is that Jupiter doesn’t operate in its most natural way when it runs through the Virgo filter.

The reason these two are now teamed together is so they can find a way to work together. Jupiter looks for more answers, tools, methods, and avenues, Virgo picks through the pile until it finds what will do the job best. To make it more workable, the two must blend their resources. The rational mind must work through an intuitive filter. Jupiter must learn to believe and create with a more discerning eye; Virgo must learn to feel more than to think.

Virgo is the archetype of service and while Jupiter tenants this sign, our interest and need to be in social service increases. More attention directed to upgrading opportunity for the working class and for those less fortunate is most definitely a good thing. Jupiter in Virgo also increases attention on health and healing, on natural and alternative products, on the welfare of pets, livestock, animals, and nature. Noting that the extreme weather conditions are now here to stay, we will now need to adapt to the changing realities, both in major and in minor ways. Jupiter in Virgo is a perfect statement for the harnessing of natural (Virgo) energy (Jupiter). On a personal note, I have come to think of the pot industry (the new “gold rush”) as Jupiter in Virgo. We must increase our safeguards and preventative measures regarding our forests, our agricultural lands, our waters, our homes, and our people.

Jupiter is a future directed archetype and it is also mission driven. Staying a big step ahead, healing the planet, safeguarding your future/our future – these are Jupiter in Virgo’s biggest jobs. The transit calls us to task. Corrections, upgrades, healing, – there’s work to do – a lot of it. The year ahead may call for a sacrifice (a Virgo thing) – a big one (a Jupiter thing.) Jupiter in Virgo calls for wisdom too.

There’s a difference between needless and purposeful sacrifice. Needless sacrifice is an expense. Purposeful sacrifice is an investment. Purposeful work is reward in itself. Your first task is to believe you can live it better, that we can live it better too. The next step is to embrace the work, no matter how daunting it may seem.
