Monthly Overview:
Don’t expect the intensity to subside anytime soon! July 11 delivers the second eclipse of the summer. It is a total solar eclipse (a new moon; the eclipse on June 26 was a full moon.) Eclipse visibility occurs over a narrower path than a partial eclipse which can be seen more widely. It will be viewable over much of the South Pacific region, including the southern tip of Argentina and Chile. Eclipses can be most effective where they occur, but they also will produce intensified effects in their corresponding geodetic regions, (something I neglected to mention in my last mail-out; please review my article on the lunar eclipse of June 26 in my website archives for added information.)
A special feature of the total solar eclipse on July 11 is that is one of a metonic sequence, which occurs on the same day (and therefore the sun and moon tenant the same astrological degree) at nineteen year intervals. When this happens, the sun and moon tenant the same astrological degree, which marks a highlight year when we see history-shaping events occur. Those whose birthdays fall on the eclipse are destined to experience significant personal life transitions, circumstances, and events. This month’s eclipse ends the cycle that began July 11, 1991 and sets in play new (collective and personal) programming that will continue to unfold through July 11, 2029. (The Jan 14 solar eclipse was also one in a metonic chain.) Eclipses can produce on the date that they actually occur, but they are also carry influence over a length of time. Watch for happenings in the month preceding and following, and also watch for key thresholds over the next three to six months. July’s solar eclipse agenda puts striking checkmark on mid October.
This time-is-ripe solar eclipse, (occurring at the south node), suggests a new chapter for something that is already in play. At 19 Cancer, it can be especially influential for those born on July 11, Oct 12, Jan 9, or April 9; (it can also produce significant impact if it makes a dynamic aspect to your personal chart.) Watch for something or someone of influence from your past (from this life or another lifetime) to resurface. Igniting the Cancer/Capricorn axis, family members and family dynamics are likely to take the main spotlight. (Transitions can occur.) The Cancer/Capricorn axis also puts the spotlight on security needs and measures, (private and personal; public, professional; social/political.) It is an important time of inner world and outer world restructuring. The eclipse can prompt an experiential review of old, outworn and limiting behaviours, and in so doing, brings an opportunity to release them.
Take note of this string of planetary occurrences: Saturn advances into Libra, July 21: the sun enters Leo on July 22, Jupiter turns retrograde on July 23 and forms a dynamic (square) aspect with Pluto on July 24 and again on Aug 3; a full moon in Aquarius occurs on July 25, and on July 26, Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) forms the last of 5 oppositions with Saturn, (but it is the first and only opposition to occur across the Aries/Libra axis.) Mars advances into Libra on July 29 and conjoins with Saturn on July 31. That is a lot of stellar activity over a short period! What does it all mean? It certainly suggests circumstances are about to come to a head. I will report back to you later in the month. In the meantime, be good to yourself and to others too.

ARIES (March 21- April 19)
Those born April 8-10 may feel the surge of energy from the new moon solar eclipse the strongest, but suffice to say it should create a significant effect for us all. A new moon ushers in a new cycle or beginning, but what occurs now has already been in the works. The thrust of this eclipse should provide the needed catalyst that will launch the next (perhaps long awaited) stage or plateau. In the sign of Cancer, this eclipse will pertain to family, ancestry, roots, home and holdings (physical/material, and emotional/behavioural.) This stoking-of-the-fire time also corresponds to the reshaping of your self image, (your inner and private self) and also reshapes how you function in the outer world out (your public self-image, career status, and responsibilities to others, personally, professionally, and socially.) A contract could be in the works, i.e. a new mortgage, personal business, or such, or you could find yourself immersed in a key karmic play-out. Whatever launches now can stick around for a length of time to come. (Keep an eye on middle of October and early January 2011 for your next breakthrough points.) Saturn’s advance into Libra on July 21 puts you on yet another forward march of significance (social, professional, romantic, financial.) The time around the full moon June 25 could bring unexpected opportunity, but there may be plus and minus attached. Mars, your ruler, advances into July 29 and catches up with Saturn at the beginning of August. Expect to be pushing hard at month end.
TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)
The solar eclipse on July 11 puts a spotlight emphasis on key relationships and what you need from others. It could help you (or force you) to re-establish your footing or to fend for yourself in some significant way. Supportive relationship bonds, personal or professional, can grow more fruitful. Keep working to groom more contacts or to secure your client base. Who-ever shows up (or doesn’t show up) can act as an important catalyst for you. Remember that today’s launch-points/new beginnings are the key to the shaping of tomorrow’s potentials. A new community development or event is worthy of your involvement or investment. It can be time to let your previous history or educational background work for you more, to call in a favour, grant one, or to seek additional hands on experience and training. Take clues from the past/from where you have been and build it up (and better) from here. The now constitutes an important bridge between your past and your future. On another note, vacation or quality time spent with family or extended family holds more benefit than you may see in the moment. Saturn’s advance into Libra, along with the dynamic planetary set up from July 21 forward, suggests you will be put to task one way or another. You could make a complete 180 switch or about-face. Health matters, added job pressures (the job hunt too), and new learning curves can keep you especially busy. It is a time to get busy on your betterment and fixer-upper programs.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
The fertile solar eclipse on July 11 could help you to discover new resources and resourcefulness. You could feel especially focused on safeguard measures and contingency plans (financial, emotional, situational.) This eclipse could also unearth a well of emotions, sensitivities, or needs (perhaps you didn’t realize all that was bottled up in side you.) Saturn’s advance into Libra (July 21) is in harmony with your sign, so progressively, you should feel that your ambitions are shaping up and that you are gaining better control where it counts the most. Of course, first there is Mars in Virgo (to July 29) to contend with; this planetary influence can keep you busy plugging the leaks in your life, or simply keep you on the go with family or home related matters. The stars reach critical mass turning points July 21 through end of the month and you are likely to do the same. As Jupiter turns retrograde (and squares Pluto) your attention or course can shift significantly and perhaps unexpectedly. This aspect could reveal some added factor or requirement, or a gap that needs to be refilled. (A plug could get pulled unexpectedly.) It may also calls for you to confront your excuse making and to get more determined in the search for more workable alternatives. June 24 to Aug 3 delivers a completion, wind-down or pause-for-review cycle.
CANCER (June 22-July 22)
If your birthday falls on or near July 11, you are in for a notable year, one that can catapult your life in a dynamic new direction. Of course we are all under exceptional stars now, so at some level we are all feeling that sense of standing on an important precipice. Mercury in Leo is well aligned with opportunity planets Jupiter and Uranus, so you may find you can latch on to a more prosperous career path. Test the waters, take an educated risk, and try something you have always wanted to do, it could work very well for you. Entrepreneurial or creative enterprises are especially favoured. As the month advances (especially past July 23), added pressure or considerations can slow you down. Mars conjoined with Saturn is a time to sign a contract, to make a commitment, to tie off, sign off or finish off. Then again, you may feel you are backtracking rather than going forward, but don’t let appearances get in the way. June 24 – Aug 3 will be a time to qualify, refine, or troubleshoot. The unexpected can be disconcerting, but know it’s good to deal with it up front so it doesn’t bog you down later. You may have to lay some things (or some relationships) to rest. It can be a matter of streamlining, hedging your best bets, or of giving up to get. Saturn’s advance into Libra can help you to get more situated and settled, or it can make you feel squeezed. If the latter occurs, face reality for what it is and don’t waste a minute of your time in regret. Show yourself some tough love, and do what must be done.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)
July’s solar eclipse suggests there something quite potent brewing for you now. You may or may not know the fullness of your future just yet, but suffice to say (especially if your chart is aligned with this eclipse) that is some thing quite experientially rich. Mid October forward, could deliver more visibility/takes it to the next stage or plateau. Messenger Mercury in Leo is greatly energized (in trine to Jupiter/Uranus) by this eclipse, so it would seem there is exceptional opportunity coming your way, perhaps through an instrumental person. Right place, right time, act when the idea or impulse strikes! For the most part, it you should experience a positive growth cycle. The eclipse can be influential in the following areas: work, health, education, creative undertakings, spiritual development, relocation, publishing, legal matters, or public profiling (performance, exhibition, advertising & marketing, teaching, etc.). Through the summer, Jupiter and Uranus will favour Leos born July 23 – 27. With that said, for all, note that July 23 through the beginning of August the stars are in a compelling force-your-hand formation. This 10-ish day period delivers a key time of ripening, completion, commitment, now-or-never decisions, significant professional or personal undertakings and achievement. (The synchronistic and social full moon could deliver added excitement or opportunity.) Of course you may opt to by-pass it all, and simply cut-out for a well deserved vacation.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
It is the right time to move in a new direction. The solar eclipse prompts you to reinvent yourself and your life in some major way. Friends, lovers, or loves can go, but you may not be in need for long. Look around; there is more for you out there. You should find plenty to stimulate you and to freshen up your life. Should you meet new people, educators, healers, or service users or providers, they can build an instrumental bridge for you. Network, scout, and groom your contacts, one thing can lead to another. Now can also be a time when your kids go off to do their own thing, (yeh, more freedom for you!) While Venus tenants Virgo (July 10 – Aug 6), make sure to be your own best fan and lover. It is an appropriate time to enhance your appearance or public profile, and to tackle those good-for-you must-do’s, but also make sure a healthy dose of pleasure and self-gratification is included in mix. Mars in Virgo (to July 29) can find you seriously driven to moving yourself and your life into a faster forward. A quick fix (or swift cut/move) could do the trick. June 23 to July 31, Mars closing in on Saturn can bring you to an important end of the road threshold or deadline. It can be a time of weighty decisions or undertakings. Face reality. You will not be able to sustain or perpetuate that which has already become stale, futile, too small, crammed, restrictive or punitive. On the other hand, if you have been on-track all along, then end of the month should see you pull into the right station, and on time.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
The solar eclipse July 11, (especially influential for those born Oct 12/13) can find your time consumed with important professional or personal matters, such as a contract, mortgage, banking, legal documents or judgements, government regulations. You may also be consumed with the need to gain better support and acknowledgement from the system, your family, or your social network. It can be encouraging to see authority figures or mentors act like caring parents. Then again, you may feel burdened by playing the care-taker or support role. The requirements of the young or the old can put you under added emotional, material, or time strain. There may be a need to make yet another change. This eclipse brings a key time to redefine yourself and your boundaries, professionally and personally. While Mars and Saturn tour Virgo, you may background ambitions, worries, or nagging issues could wear on you. The best you can do is to chip away as things best you can. During Cancer month, be patient with the process, bide your time, and approach things in increments. A subtle or one-at-a-time approach can be more effective than the attack-it-all-at-once program. Slow mover Saturn will enter Libra on July 21 (to stay for the next two and half years) and quick mover Mars follows on July 29 (to Sept 14). Vacationing, getaway time, backing off for a wait-and-see, or putting it on hold altogether, can be appropriate while these two travel so close (July 23 – Aug1). Then again, it can be time to clear your clutter and get it out of the way so you can move into your next bests with a clean slate or clear timetable. Watch the full moon July 25, and the Saturn/Uranus opposition on July 26 to provide an opening, a fresh perspective or an event of note.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Travel, vacation time, honeymooning, long distance reconnections, and future planning can top on your agenda thanks to this month’s solar eclipse. Education, legal matters, publishing, media and marketing are also worthy of your attention. In the midst of an adoption or relocation process? Congrats! Things are likely to speed along now. The solar eclipse also offers a vibrant new thrust to those of you in pursuit of a higher public profile and also favors those of you who already perform for living. It is an especially fortuitous time to hunt for added support (for your business or for your heart) and to groom future prospects and potentials. Still, you may find toward the end of the month that others are too busy or that they have put their dollars elsewhere and are not so readily available for you. July 23 – July 31 could bring a wind-down, cut-off point, deadline, or finish line. The turn-on-a-dime full moon July 25, followed by the Saturn/Uranus opposition on July 26 could bring a breakthrough of significance, or an unexpected opportunity, (it may be initially disruptive); it may be one that you may decide you can’t afford to miss out on. While caution is advised with all impulsive moves, overall, if you know what you are getting into (in other words try to look before you leap), it may be very worthwhile. Still, even though the initial result or first hoop shot is good, know that there is still more to work through ahead.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
When you are a happy camper, everybody knows it. Of course, the reverse is true too. With Mars and Saturn in Virgo for the month, you can find yourself with less interest or patience, especially with requirements, responsibilities, rules, or schedules, but if/when you put nose to the grindstone, you are likely to get much more than the usual accomplished. Of course, if there is a new venture to plug into, or you have something to tackle that you feel is worthy of your added effort and time, then it is a whole different matter. You’ll take it on with gusto. Venus in Virgo (July 10 –Aug 6) suggests you will be happy with yourself when you pay attention to the details and stay on top of what you are supposed to. Stay regimented with health matters and budgets too. The solar eclipse on July 11 could set a new tone for financial matters or intimate relationships. This can be a significant rebirth time for your soul’s journey too. The full moon July 25 could light a special fire. Watch for a special celebration, travel, an opportunity to perform, an exceptional event, a social gathering, news, etc. The Saturn/Uranus opposition on July 26 can remove a block (perhaps one you didn’t realize was holding you up) and paves an important new direction.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
The stars keep you especially active now. Ambition is best set toward getting the most out of your moments and to making your recreation time and travels as best (and as well organized) they can be. The solar eclipse on July 11 puts the focus on partnerships and your social life. Your significant other could have a lot going on, which can have significant effects or consequences on you too. The eclipse could deliver a momentous meeting or exchange, someone or something of significance could arrive or take an exit. Those born Jan 8 – 10 can feel the catapulting influence of the solar eclipse the strongest. July 23 through the beginning of August could put life through the paces, and/or see you move through a lot in a short period of time. Saturn’s advance into Libra (July 21 through Oct 2012) puts a more serious spin on professional and banking matters, material goals, responsibilities, obligations, commitments, and boundary issues. It can be time for you to call the shots more and/or to step into a more authoritative position. Professional partnerships, business mergers, and sharing of (domestic or business) responsibilities take priority attention too light too. Whatever you set up for yourself now will sustain you for some time to come. Stay ambitious! The Saturn/Uranus opposition (and the full moon) may get things off the ground faster than you expect.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
The stars will put you to work this month, most likely in more ways than one! The solar eclipse July 11 suggests you’ll need to put more attention to caretaking, stage-setting, and fixer-up plans. A new daily routine or schedule could be the ticket. Whether or not you have a particular need (and you probably do), it is a key time to strive toward better work, study, and health habits. Mars in Virgo, to July 29, can call greater attention to shortfalls and dissatisfactions – at work, with yourself, and re intimate relationships. The financial stretch can get to you too. If a job or safeguard measure doesn’t work out for you, know that destiny has something better in store. Note the eclipse could also bring more responsibility in the way of pets. You may have added issues or concerns re looking after them, or perhaps you’ll bring a new member into your family. (Isn’t amazing how our animals pick us?) The advance of Saturn into Libra (July 21) should come as welcome news for your sign, helping you to manifest more of what you want, and to gain stability and control where you crave it the most. Mars enters Libra on July 29 and meets up with Saturn on July 31 to end the month on a striking note. The full moon in Aquarius (July 25) is sandwiched among a batch of other major planetary aspects. (Of particular note for your sign, the last of the Saturn/Uranus oppositions.) Watch for something (or someone) of significance to come into fuller view. July 21 forward can produce an exceptional window of opportunity, perhaps for travel, relocation, a product or project launch, or new relationship chapter. Sudden and sweeping change is quite possible; your life could take a radical departure from where it has been.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)
The solar eclipse could signal something exceptional is about to come your way in the area of speculative ventures, creative actualization (personal/professional), romance, or recreational pursuits. It is a special time for children too – having them, caring for them, or watching them through their glory moments. Whatever shapes up now can set your life-path on an all-together new course. Those born Mar 8 – 10 can gain the most from this opportunity eclipse. Fresh-start planets Jupiter and Uranus in Aries are poised to help you shatter through previous barriers and can move you out of a stalemate or hold-up cycle (emotional, material, physical.) The time is ripe to experiment, to explore beyond your usual, to take new risks, to seek new avenues and adventures. It is a lucrative time to make new inroads with others too. New talents, capacities, tools, and financial avenues can emerge. While things can get cooking in the first half of the month, know that the bunch up of stars July 22 through the full moon July 25 and to the end of the month could alter your course, perhaps unexpectedly so. If things don’t go as expected, recognize there is always another way and that better opportunity lies ahead.
