March Overview:
It’s that time again. Yep, Mercury retrograde (March 5 to 28). By now, you know what to expect. Pay closer attention to all you hear, see, feel, and do. Put extra safeguards in place, especially regarding passwords, information, health, and wealth. It is easy to get sidetracked, to misplace things, be forgetful, and/or to lose or waste some time, effort, or money. Are you indulging too much? Mercury retrograde in Pisces has a propensity for slacking off, wimping out, or for getting in too deep. Boundaries dissolve, walls can evaporate, momentum can be lost. There are times to ease up and go with the flow, and times when letting it go could trip you up. While Mercury is retrograde in Pisces, it can be easy to miss something important. This is likely to be an especially emotional Mercury retrograde. Know too, that the body is also more sensitive and vulnerable. Do not take chances with your health. Local news reports of a significant measles outbreak. Watch your alcohol intake, be careful not to mix up your meds, and if you do hard core drugs, know your supplier!
After several weeks in the sign, Mercury begins retrograde on March 5 at the very last (anaretic) degree of Pisces. This is a culminating or turning point degree, but it also a destabilizing degree. Make no assumptions. Don’t bank on the promise, the potential, the sales pitch, etc. Allow ample time for folks or matters to reveal themselves.
The Pisces archetype correlates to our ideals, to the search for ultimate truth, value, and meaning. Saviours, iconic people, hope, faith, spirituality, mass consciousness and the collective experience/tuning fork correlate to this archetype too. Via Pisces we can be inspired, or we can be disillusioned.
Mercury forms an inferior conjunction with the sun on March 14. While still on karmic or actual review, this is the switch from a completion replay track to the incorporation of a fresh element, piece of information, or creative track, and/or or the prompt of new viewpoint or the stirring of a new instinct or impulse. A subtle shift can speak volumes/hold great potency and effectiveness.
New Moon in Pisces, conjunct Neptune in Pisces, Vesta in Pisces: March 5
Uranus ingress into Taurus: March 5
This is an especially watery and emotional new moon! Receiving extra turbo from Neptune in Pisces, (ruler of the sign), the new moon holds plenty of potential and promise. It sets up an excellent few weeks for a regroup. Take a vacation! Dis-engage from outside distractions and redirect attention to your inner life, to spiritual replenishment, to reconnect with your higher self, your creative centre, your heart. Allow more time to imagine, to dream, to conjure, to find better sources of inspiration. Vesta, keeper of the flame, in Pisces is about creating sacred space. It is about tuning in to the sound-scapes of our individual and our collective souls. It is about finding safety and sanctuary within, finding the words to communicate, stoking the fire so that we may feel safe, feel whole, and heal.
We all feel the same, we all want the same. The Pisces archetype demonstrates how are all in it together, how we are all attuned to the search for more and better. We hope together, we dream the reality together. We all feel the same sense of loss when our ideals are not met, when our special ones let us down, etc.
The ingress of Uranus into Taurus aligned with this very potent new moon and the start of Mercury retrograde sets the dial to a reawakening or bring it to life time passage of significance. This cluster of planetary influences can expose or reveal something of great worth, of great value and meaning to your soul. It can prompt the discovery or unlocking of buried treasure, that which contained within your heart, mind, or soul. On the outer world front, watch for more revelations uncovering, and reclaiming in the weeks ahead. These transits can target/reveal something key and essential.
Uranus in Taurus puts everything to do with climate change, global warming, financial, social and political reinvention and survival on this planet onto an acceleration track. Uranus sets the dial to radical change. Uranus in Taurus also puts the spotlight on matters to do with fertility, mortality, sexuality, genetics, science, and technology. Expect crypto-currency and other such inventions to become major contributors to the new reality. An 84-year cycle, the previous Uranus in Taurus cycle (1934 to 1942) marked the time of the Great Depression, the rise of Hitler, and the launch of WW2.
Vernal Equinox, Sun Enters Aries: March 20
Full Moon in Libra: (0:09 Libra)
(Please note, I did not cover the equinox or full moon in the sign forecasts but watch for something to fire up for you/for there to be significant action March 20 to 23).
(from the weekly column:)
Thursday marks the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde cycle. It’s also the day that Mercury forms an inferior conjunction with the sun. This begins a next phase regarding the process of information gathering direct toward finding the missing key, unlocking the potential, and making the necessary improvement.
Heralding a new season of growth and change for all living things – the soul included, it is no wonder that the ancients viewed the spring equinox as a cosmic threshold of special significance.
In astrology, the sun represents the creative force of consciousness and of self actualization. The moon represents the creative force of the subconscious self which is rooted in the memory imprints of the past. A building super full moon coincides with the spring equinox. This suggests the dynamic interplay between the past and the present, between the conscious and subconscious, between action and response is especially fecund/especially well-triggered to create/manifest anew.
The Equinox (2:59 pm PDT) happens on March 20 at 2:59 pm PDT while the transiting moon is finishing up in Virgo, one of Mercury’s home signs. This places even more emphasis on the Mercury retrograde expose-it mandate. There are times when things have to swing to the extreme before they can be brought into better balance.
Four hours after the Equinox moment, the moon reaches full at 0:09 Libra. This adds extra turbo to the transit of Venus (ruler of Libra) set to turn a corner and move to a new level with Mars. What does it all mean? The agenda is well set to hear it/see it, respond, act and to spring forward in a way that creates real and substantial value.
~~
The spring equinox coincides with a full moon at 0 degree of Libra, Venus in Aquarius turning a corner with Mars in Taurus (last quarter square aspect) while Mars is trine Pluto in Capricorn. Mercury retrograde is on productive/creative opportunity track with Saturn (crescent sextile). As I have gathered from the weather reports (at least locally) we are in for an abrupt change of season. The Vernal Equinox suggests the season ahead will be dynamic on the social, economic, and political fronts, especially considering Brexit happens on March 29, and both Trump and Trudeau are in the midst of political turmoil. The fight to heard, for justice, for equal representation/an equal playing field, etc., has been playing out for weeks here in Canada as Jody Wilson-Raybould an indigenous woman of pedigree, matriarchal lineage challenges Prime Minster Justin Trudeau on appropriate conduct and observance of the rule of law. Both are embroiled in a high stakes battle. The combination of Vernal Equinox on the full moon in Libra is a suggestion that things have to swing to an extreme before they can come into better balance. Mistakes have been made, the court of public opinion holds much sway. March 20 to 23, the transiting sun conjuncts Chiron in Aries. For Justin and Jody, and for each and everyone in our own way, this transit suggests that the battle is inevitable and that it must be faced. The warrior may be weak, wounded, and handicapped but he/we must still fight. Courage, initiative and truth serves the order of the day. Chiron always extracts a hefty price, but there is no greater glory than cracking the code and setting yourself free to live another day.
Mercury ends retrograde: March 28:
Mercury ends retrograde on March 28 within one degree of a conjunction with Neptune in Pisces. It is an appropriate transit for the Brexit launch. There’s still plenty of the unknown to sort out. Mercury’s close conjunction with Neptune extends from March 25 to April 2 in a completion phase (balsamic phase). Expect what is launched or experienced to take time to reveal itself fully. Mercury will remain active for the duration of its tour through Pisces (to April 16), this in terms of keeping situations fluid, keeping the guesswork gong strong while exposing more.
The stars are particularly active this month and next! Go gently on yourself, go gently on others too. The best you can do while Mercury retrograde and Pisces influences run the show is to go with the flow, to pause for reflection and replenishment as often as you can, to allow for the moment/the answer to reveal itself – and always, to stay hopeful.
ARIES March 19/20 – April 19
The potentials are ever shifting this month. While Mercury tours retrograde, it is best to keep open ended and to go by feel regarding undertakings and expectations. The best use of the cycle is to simplify where possible, to take a pause, and to allow for better clarity to design itself. Quality time given to inner reflection, spiritual replenishment, creative exploration, and healing is wise. Allow yourself the gift of time. Do not under-estimate the value of quiet or stillness moments.
Mercury begins retrograde on March 5. March 6 dishes up a new moon in in Pisces conjunct Neptune. This new moon is also accompanied by the ingress of Uranus into Taurus. The now is laden with good promise, especially so when you relinquish expectations, surrender attachment to the win or the loss, and give right of way to the naturally unfolding process. Combined with the start of Mercury retrograde, Uranus in Taurus can put you back in touch and/or see you reclaim or reawaken something precious and meaningful. It could be a person, a thing, or a consciousness, it could be discovery of an innate resource or talent that has not yet been fully accessed. More than that, it is the soul on an acceleration track.
Uranus in Taurus will reinvent how you evaluate, relate, and attract. Independence is where it is at. The more self-sufficient you can be emotionally and materially, the better. To the plus, the transit can help you break free of what ever has been hold you back or down. It can pull you (or jettison you) out of a rut or a locked-in consciousness. Uranus can help you to free your voice, to discover more of your innate resources, and/or unleash what’s really inside of you. Uranus in Taurus dials up everything pertaining to fertility, prosperity, ownership, sustainability, survival and mortality. If you are born on or near April 19, Uranus in Taurus will be knocking on your door first. Expect the year ahead to speed up the process of net worth/self worth reinvention from the ground up.
TAURUS April 19 – May 20
Mercury in Pisces is an exposure transit. During the retrograde cycle (March 5 to 28), it pays to be vigilant regarding health and safety. You can be quite sensitive or vulnerable, physically or emotionally. While it is good to stay open for business, make sure to know what you are getting in to. Get all the information and don’t gloss over the details or gaps. Don’t assume everyone is on the same page. Mercury in Pisces can make you more susceptible to suggestion. Know you can be easily swayed or sold.
As is typical of Mercury retrograde, expect to meet with folks you haven’t seen or heard from for awhile. It’s an opportunity to fill in a missing blank or to clear something up.
On another note, Mercury in Pisces and retrograde can see you get confused, dissipate your energy or resources. You can lose steam, lose track of items, lose track of the goal, the intention, or the point. If it slips through your fingers or doesn’t hold together, perhaps it was not meant to be. The best you can do for yourself during this transit is “let go and let God”. If the prospect or potential is real, it will naturally build into something more tangible or substantial.
Uranus into Taurus is a big deal for everyone of us. It is especially so for all Taurus folk, and especially for you if you are born on or near April 19. Mars in Taurus (through March 30) is already lighting a fire in you. Now or down the road (depending on how it hits your chart) Uranus in Taurus will assist you to crack your own code, to crack you open in some surprising, radical, harsh, or exhilarating way.
While Mercury retrograde cycle can see you question yourself, your motives, attachments, relationships or your faith, Uranus into Taurus aims to help you liberate yourself from a negative or self-undermining situation or habit. Know what is in your better interest but can’t quite get yourself up to speed? Uranus can blast you out of inertia too. (The better way to go is compliance with the new and improved.) Take a risk on a new you. Even if there is a significant ouch to begin with, at some point later, you’ll thank yourself for having the courage and taking the initiative.
GEMINI May 20 – June 20
Have you slacked off more, lost your ambition, momentum, or focus over the past couple of weeks? Perhaps there’s been plenty of potential on brew but not much to show for it? Mercury will have made it almost all the way through Pisces before turning retrograde on March 5.
If you have missed seeing what’s important, watch for Mercury retrograde to get you better clued in. The transit is a plus when it helps you to fill in the blanks or find the missing keys.
On the other hand, a Pisces transit doesn’t give you good command of the wheel, so stop trying to steer what’s out of your control. The best way to play it during this retrograde cycle is to give it extra time and to allow for the natural flow or natural course to show you the way.
Mercury finishes retrograde in close aspect to Neptune. There’s plenty of potential and opportunity but there’s still plenty of uncertainty. Keep the faith and stay open to the moment. March 20 to 23 can kick the action up a big notch.
For the next seven years, Uranus in Taurus will continue to keep you informed and up to speed on a need to know basis. That “need to know” program is dictate to by your soul’s desire to enlighten, energize, and liberate you. Along the way, you could make amazing personal discoveries. The transit could awaken you to a higher purpose/your life’s calling or lead you to a special one.
CANCER June 20 – July 22
Can you keep going? Do you want to? Sustainability and the future stays on your mind. For many, uncertainty looms large. Mercury retrograde (March 5 to 28) can prompt a major rethink. Pisces month can keep you questioning yourself. Long buried feelings or ideas can filter into your consciousness too.
While a concentration of Capricorn energies keeps you working for it every step of the way (especially this year and next), Mars in Taurus (through March 31) supplies something tangible and worthy to work with, for, and toward. A natural progression is underway. It isn’t new, but whether you feel it in a subtle or overt way you are now working though a next stage. As you move through the month, you’ll begin to see with fresh eyes. Allow ample quality time for self reflection, soul searching, spiritual replenishment, creative exploration or romance. A vacation (actual or metaphorically speaking) is well timed. Tune the world out, set your radio to the beating of your own heart. Let music, the arts, a vacation, or a spiritual retreat feed your soul. Movies are a good escape too.
Mercury retrograde is an exposing cycle. Progressively it will clue you in better. Uranus treks into Taurus just one day after Mercury retrograde begins. Watch for the combination to shatter through a sound barrier, to put you back in touch with something you have kept long buried or have forgotten existed within you. To the plus, the transit could prompt you to get back to yoga or some other exercise or health program. More quality time set aside to commune with the divine or to replenish spiritually is always a good idea.
Combined with the new moon on March 5 and the start of Uranus in Taurus, Mercury retrograde could see you reconnect the dots for yourself, to find what’s been missing or hidden from full view, to discover something inside of yourself or some resource that can make all the difference to where you take it from here. Do not under estimate the karmic nature of circumstances, involvements, or the unfolding creative process. Everything happens for a reason. Mercury ends retrograde aligned with Neptune. Potential is greatly enhanced, but so too the uncertainty and fluidity of circumstances. Say hopeful, stay open to possibility, don’t take things at face value, don’t bank on the promise. Let the play unfold, let the best option reveal itself.

Mercury retrograde signs you up for yet another go around. Watch for buried emotions to resurface, for a health issue, or something else to hit a replay. As is typical of the retrograde cycle, someone from your past can make a reappearance, whether in actuality or via your memories.
A potent new moon in Pisces aligned with Neptune (conjunction) accompanies the start of Mercury retrograde. Let the spirit or the music move you. This transit can see you get lost within yourself or another. Watch your vices and reasonable limits. It’s easy to get lost, to lose track or sight. You can be easily swayed, sold, or influenced. The high concentration of Pisces greatly heightens sensitivity (physical or emotional) and imagination. The start of Mercury retrograde is also accompanied by the ingress of Uranus into Taurus. Do not under estimate the potency of what you feel or what you see. Pay attention to clues, instincts, impressions and building trends. Uranus in Taurus could give you another shot at something you thought was no longer within reach. CAPRICORN December 21 - January 20
The best advice for Mercury retrograde is to go with the flow. Don’t sweat the small stuff, stay open-ended and open-minded. You can waste time, effort, or money. Aim to safeguard health, passwords, etc. With so much Pisces stirring it up, it is easy to overlook, zone out, get lost, misplace items or miss the obvious. Also, expect to feel heightened sensitivity to moods, feelings, environments, energy fields, music, and sensory stimulation (visual, touch, sound, noise, flavour, scents, etc.). Pay close attention to your intuition, your impressions, the spoken and the unspoken.
Uranus enters Taurus on the March 5 new moon in Pisces. It will tenant this sign for the next seven years. The transit facilitates/solidifies personal, career and lifestyle reinvention in a way that (for the most part) evolves as a natural and timely progression. Putting the key in the ignition, Uranus in Taurus will animate what your soul deems is of most value for you to resource and explore. Awakening content from your cellular memory banks, the transit can help you to break through your own sound barrier, to discover natural talents and capacities. Essentially it is a build it better, or coming into your own, transit. For some, the transit can signify the start of a material gain, career high, or life-high trajectory. For some, a special someone factors into your reinvented reality in some major way.
AQUARIUS January 20 – February 18/19
Mercury retrograde in Pisces (March 5 to 28) takes you through an important review and re-evaluation process. The transit keeps you swimming in the deep end of the ocean. It can expose where you are most vulnerable (i.e. projected expectations, the emotional, material, physical). Shift attention and look to resource inner stillness – this is where you will hear the sound track of your soul. Inspiration, creativity, imagination, compassion for self, romance, higher love all stem from this source-point.
On the other hand, if you find yourself lost at sea and lacking clarity, stop trying to swim in the choppy water. It is a sign that more time is needed. Relinquish the expectation that you have to get it all figured out all by yourself. Let time/the universe do that for you.
There’s more than the average potential and opportunity swirling around you and inside you now. Give it extra time to gel. Mercury finishes retrograde in close proximity (conjunction to) Neptune. Continuing to keep circumstances fluid, this alignment extends from the spring equinox through the first few days of April.
Uranus, your ruler, enters Taurus on March 6. We had an introduction to this transit last year but now we’ll get the full meal deal. The transit targets your personal life, security, needs, financial bottom lines, your inner consciousness, cellular memory recall, how you are living with yourself or coping with your reality. You will feel the strongest revolutionizing impact in the year ahead if you are born on or near January 20 or if the transit make contact to your personal planets/your chart in some dynamic way, otherwise watch for Uranus too hit full acceleration further down the road. Having said that, it is a signature transit for the reinventing of contemporary, every day reality. Uranus changes our values and evaluations, how we relate and create. This is an important foundation laying transit for your sign. It is setting the baseline for the future – yours and ours.
PISCES February 18/19 to March 19/20
Mercury in Pisces turns retrograde on March 5. March 6 delivers a new moon in Pisces conjunct Neptune, your ruler, and Vesta in Pisces, (the sacred flame asteroid). That’s a lot of Pisces/a lot of water! Also, Uranus treks into Taurus to stay for the next seven years. Progressively, you’ll hear the call of a new inner voice.
For most of the month ahead, expect to find yourself completely submerged in the day, lost in the moment, deep inside the conversation or the experiential track of your heart, mind, and soul.
In your element and going strong, this new moon cluster of transits helps you to resource yourself in some extraordinary way. You’ll be especially expressive, even when you don’t say a word. Your creative flow and ability to attract is at peak. Take more quality time out to explore, to replenish spiritually or energetically. As is typical of Mercury retrograde, you can expect to re-meet, revisit or repeat. Watch for something to be exposed or uncovered, for something lost to be found (object, memory, or resource). These transits can also set you up for significant karmic recall.
On a more basic note, Mercury retrograde transits can take you on questioning or soul-searching track. Is a win/win possible? What is the ultimate intention, ideal solution, or track to pursue? How real is the potential? If you don’t feel clear on your best options or can’t come up with a good enough answer, allow more time to feel your way along. There is no place else for you to be than exactly where you are. Allow yourself to be here now until the natural flow transports you elsewhere and then be there.
Water at the beginning, water at the end; Mercury ends retrograde in close aspect (conjunction) with Neptune. Keeping the promise, the potential, the guesswork, and the circumstances fluid this aspect continues from the spring equinox through the first few days of April.
Now and/or in times to come, Uranus in Taurus, starting March 6, can open you up to a new way of connecting the dots and creating your everyday reality. New interests, new opportunities, new people to meet, you’ll start to think, relate, communicate, and evaluate along new lines. A new income source, new place to spend your time is within the range of possibility.
