(Please note the change of format for the column this month. I’ve posted the new and full moons first. The rest of the transits for July are covered under the “read more” tab below)
Reach for the best the moment has to offer and also take a break as often as you can. Cancer month is the time to put better quality self-care to the top of your to-do list.
July opens with Neptune at the start of a five-month retrograde cycle, and Mercury at the start of a three-week tour of Leo. Both transits stay focused on inspirations, aspirations, and the unlocking of potential that is not yet fully realized.
Venus (starting July 11), and the sun in Leo, (starting July 22) enhance prospects at all levels. They also favour reward seeking, pleasure pursuits, and creative enterprise. Mars in Gemini, starting July 20, launches a six-week energizing and mobilizing track.
More is on brew than is obvious. Something subtle in nature or that has previously escaped notice could rapidly consume front and center attention. The receding or dissolving process that is currently underway allows for that which is meant to surface to gain momentum. Where it starts and where it goes – it is a living, breathing demonstration of evolution unfolding in real time.
New Moon in Cancer, July 5 (14:23 Cancer)
What can you do to make your private time or home life more fulfilling, to deepen bonds, to create better security, and emotional fulfillment? The new moon in Cancer on July 5 puts added attention on self-care and comfort zones (emotional, material, physical). A revisit can be productive, lucrative, or beneficial.
Drawing from this new moon, the next few weeks sets a backdrop to revive, reconnect, refortify, or to re-establish. Something old or from the past can be reworked and updated (actual or karmic in nature). A revision to plan or budget can be smart, advantageous, and well timed. A review of the past can give you a better feel for where you are at now.
The new moon in opposition to Ceres retrograde in Capricorn brings even more awareness to the fact of that you cannot rely on the system, or the old formula to work as it once did. You can’t rely on anyone else but yourself. As the saying goes, if you want to get the job done right, do it yourself. How do you want to see this next part of the journey play out? It is up to you to take control where and when you can.
Full moon in Capricorn, July 21 (29:08 Capricorn)
The full moon on July 21 happens at the very last degree of Capricorn. Have you been on wait, in a holding pattern or persevering as of late? That is about to change. If July 15 or the days close by didn’t produce a breakthrough or a forward thrust, watch for the full moon to move it along and/or light a fresh spark. Some things can fall into place quite well. Watch for a fresh solution or insight to get the ball rolling. (Something different, unique, or outside of your usual could do the trick.) Start a conversation, open a door, and see where it leads. An ending is well timed. On a bigger picture scale, you can feel a sense of finality, that a life chapter is completing and that a new one is in the works. Indeed, it is for all of us. A significant transition phase lies ahead. It is one that that will extend from now to next spring’s starting gate.
I will now circle back to cover the rest of the notable transits of the month,
Please use this tab:
Saturn retrograde in Pisces:
Canada’s Westjet airlines mechanics strike has coincided with the start of Saturn’s station retrograde (June 29). Reeking havoc and stranding many travellers on Canada’s birthday weekend, one thousand flights were cancelled over two days. As of July 1, a tentative agreement is in place, but there is still uncertainty and much to sort out. On July 2, Neptune (dispositor of Saturn in Pisces) will also begin a retrograde cycle. Look to Mercury’s trine to Neptune (July 2) and opposition to Pluto (July 3) to move matters along.
Saturn in Pisces has just begun a four-month retrograde tour that extends to November 16. When the taskmaster planet tours retrograde, it is a time to reassess priorities and to put in more effort where required and desired. Better control and better results are a matter of making sure that you step up to the plate for yourself on a consistent basis rather than only at crunch time. To the plus, Saturn retrograde in Pisces aims to clear up confusion and to pinpoint which options are real and most worthwhile.
Saturn’s tour through Pisces (2 ½ years) is a work in progress that requires time. In due course all will be revealed or exposed. In the meantime, experience is your best informant. As is typical for this transit, clarity surfaces gradually, through a dissolving or disintegration process. In so doing, Saturn eliminates that which prevents the brewing potential from seeing the light of day.
In the long run, to deny or repress what is true or inevitable is a futile exercise. What is meant to be, will always find its mark.
Neptune retrograde in Pisces:
On July 2, Neptune in Pisces (its home sign) begins a five-month retrograde cycle. Over the coming months, this transit can see you questioning your cherished ideals and goals. Is it really in your best interest to seek in the way you have been all this time? If the answer is still yes, is there something you are not doing or can do to enhance potentials? Give yourself time to figure it out. If the truthful answer is no – that the desired attainment is proving itself not to be possible, then this transit calls for you to put the time into letting go and moving on. The rebirth process is not an overnight project. The influence of Saturn in Pisces can be a slow dissolving or disintegration process. Signing onto the same page, both Saturn and Neptune in retrograde through Pisces turn the spotlight attention away from the focus on the outer wrestling match, and onto inner questioning and self-reflection. If you can accept and surrender to the necessary relinquishing process, you will move through a gentler, more fluid transition.
Mercury in Leo (July 2 to 24); Venus in Leo (July 11 to August 4):
July 2 to 24, Mercury transits Leo. Venus transits Leo from July 11 to August 4. Both transits are good for a lift of confidence and courage. Mercury and Venus put head and heart on the same page. For a few weeks, both express from the same creative center. Happiness, joy, love, enjoyment, pleasure, laughter – these are our basic birthrights. If you relate to any of the items on that list as a missing key, be reminded that the procurement process begins from your own core. If you can shift your inner attention and dialogue, you will automatically shift the vibrational field around you too. The law of attraction (like attracts like) is always sending and receiving signals. A simple pleasure, a single moment of joy, peace, or contentment calls forth another. And so it goes.
Mercury (to July 24), Venus (starting July 11) and the sun in Leo (starting July 22) set a positive backdrop for taking the lead. Power up your light and enjoy the reward.
While Mercury (to July 24), Venus (starting July 11), and the sun (starting July 22) are in transit through Leo, our heart’s yearning take center stage. (Children do too, inner child included.) Enjoy more, worry less (as best you can). Seize all opportunity to gift yourself to yourself and to those you love. The moments of our lives are fleeting, but the memories they create live on.
Mars in Gemini:
Mars tenants Gemini from July 20 to September 4. This Mars transit sets a mobilizing backdrop for social and physical activity. Expect your mind to stay active too. It is a good transit for quick thinking, spontaneity, and trend setting. Watch for conversations, negotiations, and sales to pick up better speed. You can find yourself busier with errands, involvements, a marketing venture, or planning your next steps. A short trip, project, or interlude, or key person (friend, sibling, neighbour, agent) can stay front and center too. Mars in Gemini launches just the day before a full moon. As such, watch July 20 to 24 for more action/a swifter move-along regarding something that you have been grinding through.
Sun enters Leo, Eris in Aries turns retrograde on July 22:
On July 22, (just one day after the full moon discussed at the top of the column), the sun enters Leo and Eris in Aries turns retrograde. Both turn more spotlight attention to your own creative process. This includes better self-honoring, the prioritizing of self-interests, pumping up on enjoyments, pleasure seeking, and reward. In other words, both transits advocate for fully embracing the moment and for making the most of the right here and right now.
Allow yourself to be fully immersed right where you are, but also keep an eye on the road ahead. Be forewarned, August delivers the next Mercury retrograde cycle! I will be back next month with your individual sign forecasts. Until then, be good to yourself and to those you meet along the way.
