The Momentous Astrological Influences of 2020
History in the Making:
2020 opens with a rare multi-faceted planetary alignment in Capricorn, the likes we have not seen in 800 years! Outer planets Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto will complete and launch short-term cycles (20 years, 33 years) and long-term cycles (180 years, 248 years; Pluto is also making its way through the twilight of the Age of Pisces). Capricorn is the archetype of time and reality. Pluto’s transit through this sign swings the wrecking ball on any structure or reality (social, political, economic) that has outworn its purpose. Marking the beginning of a new decade and a new world era, 2020 is a major reset year for the personal life journey and for the outer world reality too.

February Overview:
How long with the Coronavirus last? It could continue to be of concern while Pisces transits are underway. Starting February 3, Mercury enters Pisces, the sign that rules the immune system. Due to the upcoming retrograde cycle, which spans February 16 to the super full moon in Virgo on March 9, Mercury will extend its tour of Pisces through April 10. I hope we’ll get a handle on the Coronavirus before then!
Coinciding with official start of Brexit, Ceres, a seeding and a resurrection archetype, has just begun a tour of Aquarius. This jumper cable transit provides a fresh boost to social, economic, and political action. It is a signature transit for Mother Nature in trauma and the need for speed on climate change activism.
On the personal front, watch for Ceres in Aquarius to awaken fresh insights and opportunity. A reviving, revitalizing, and acceleration transit, Ceres sets the stage for breaking new ground and lifestyle change (for some, radical change). It is not the only transit prod! We are at the start of so much more to come!
Lost your mojo or spunk? Look to Venus, touring Aries from February 7 to March 4, to light a fresh fire.
The full moon is accompanied by Juno, the contract asteroid, starting a retrograde tour, and Venus conjunct Chiron in Aries. This combination can make for difficult starts, diplomatic chaffing, and relationship turbulence.
The few days following the full moon in Leo on February 8, 9 (depending on your location) are opportune for creating, correcting, improving, and/or enhancing. Take your best shot! The full moon in Leo coincides with Oscar weekend, although by the time the show is on, the moon will have advanced into Virgo. Anti-climatic? Nope. The moon’s trine to Uranus keeps the good buzz going.
Mercury in Pisces begins a three-week retrograde cycle on February 16. By now, you know the drill. Double check everything. Guard your health, your passwords, keep track of belongs, make sure you heard it right, don’t make assumptions or bank on a promise, don’t drive when sleepy or under the influence. To the plus, Mercury retrograde in Pisces is excellent for creative exploration, romance, a spiritual retreat, or an escape from the pressures of everyday reality. Mercury will dip back into Aquarius on March 4, completing retrograde in this sign (March 9). Mercury will pick up again in Pisces March 16 to April 10.
Mars enters Capricorn on February 16, the same day that Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces. The day could bring something unforeseen. Keep open-ended, have no expectations, and let the moment play itself out.
To the end of March, Mars is driven toward getting it under better control, toward making it real and building something more substantial. Mars sets a finish line for the second half of March. Don’t waste your time. Get a handle on it instead.
Mercury retrograde serves the Mars initiative by exposing that which has not yet fully surfaced and/or that has escaped full view. Mercury retrograde in Pisces can reveal where we have lost control and/or wasted time, where we have been misled by illusion, deception, misinformation, or misguided hope. To the plus, the transits can better define what’s real/what’s solid, and what’s not. Potentials can shape up in some substantial way.
Are you having difficulty find inspiration, hope, or motivation? Is worry, fear, or depression getting the better of you? Take a sabbatical from the news and that overactive mind. Aim to fill the heart with something kinder and gentler, that offers comfort to your soul. How can you do that? In simple ways. Play your favourite music, watch a heart-warming movie, read something inspirational or entertaining, submerge yourself in a creative project, sleep more, eat better, ask the divine for a sign and be patient with the process.
Mercury and Mars are creative collaborators again on February 26. This is the midpoint of Mercury retrograde, the day the Mercury aligns with the sun and marks a subtle switch to a next phase orientation and implementation track. Mars and the south node (a karmic trigger) also make a switch. Watch for the days and weeks to come to insert something new or added, clarifying and/or timely into the mix. Progressively the choice and direction forward will come into sharper focus.
Defining the shape of things to come, Mars sets a bigger picture/karmic agenda setting from February 17 through the end of March. The sun in Pisces, starting February 19 infuses the moment with even more creative potency. February 19 to March 3, Venus in Aries is also instigating in some actual or gut level way. Pay close attention to first impulses, instincts and impressions; to what fires up inside you and triggers right in front of you too. It can be a preview of something major in development, i.e. a new money maker, relationship, or new you. Get a jump start on it as best you can now and expect to be well occupied and/or to hit the ground running with this hot ticket item or new battle come the fall.

In combination, they can peel back a curtain and/or expose something important that might have been overlooked. Let the moment or the best course of action reveal itself. February 21 to 25 holds good/lucrative potential.
