SPECIAL LECTURE EVENT:
The Momentous Astrological Influences of 2020 – History in the Making:
2020 opens with a rare multi-faceted planetary alignment in Capricorn, the likes we have not seen in 800 years. Outer planets Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto will complete and launch short-term cycles (20 years, 33 years) and long-term cycles (180 years, 248 years; Pluto is also making its way through the twilight of the Age of Pisces). Capricorn is the archetype of time and reality. Pluto’s transit through this sign swings the wrecking ball on any structure or reality (social, political, economic) that has outworn its purpose. Marking the beginning of a new decade and a new world era, 2020 is a major reset year for the personal life journey and for the outer world reality too.

December Overview:
(There’s big news this month! Jupiter enters Capricorn: December 2, 2019 – December 19, 2020. Read on….)
December opens with both Mercury and Mars in Scorpio keeping motivation going strong. Completing a two-month extended stay (due to the recent retrograde) on December 9, Mercury will leave Scorpio for a quick stint through Sagittarius (to December 28). The transit is well timed for putting a smile on it and all the extras that this time of year brings. (By all means, make sure to include yourself on the gift list and do something that makes you feel good about yourself.)
Mars in Scorpio continues to pull from deep emotional undercurrents. To the plus, the transit can put you in touch with the buried treasure of your soul. It can sharpen your radar, reignite passion and motivation, and help you to reclaim your strength/your powerbase. Mars draws good inspiration from Neptune on December 13 (trine), finds good timing with Saturn on December 19 (sextile), and shifts gears with Pluto on December 22 (sextile).
To December 19, Venus in Capricorn is naturally geared toward making the best use of time and money. Accompanied by Venus conjunct Saturn, the full moon in Gemini on December 11 can mark a deadline or finish line (i.e. the end of a term; the cut-off for getting the packages shipped on time for Christmas). It’s an appropriate day to buy tickets, sign a contract, or take some other official step. The full moon also draws from Neptune (square) which suggests there is something more to be uncovered, or to let go of (including expectations). If you find yourself on stop, you won’t be for long. This full moon happens the day before Brits go to the voting polls. Stay tuned for results!
The big news this month is Jupiter’s advance into Capricorn on December 2. Jupiter will spend the next year increasing the magnitude of the reality and the importance of time on the move. Once every twelve years it will bring increase to the same area of your chart. If you are a Capricorn, you’ll find yourself at the start of something big, perhaps even momentous. To a certain extent, this is a true statement for all of us. Jupiter adds more gravity to the Capricorn agenda which is piloted by the transits of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. (Saturn has been transiting Capricorn for the past two years and has one more to go. Pluto has been transiting Capricorn since 2008 and has 4 more to go.) Jupiter – planet of beliefs, the future, and of the laws of nature – is an expansion influence. Saturn – the planet of authority’s rule, and of rewards and consequences – is a crystalizing influence. Pluto – the non-negotiable agent of the soul (collective and personal) – is a transformative influence. In combination, they are a formidable trio. The changes they bring about are substantial and long term. Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto have signed each one of us up for an important date with destiny. (I will write and speak more on this subject in my 2020 annual forecast. Stay tuned for my public lecture and a webinar presentation in January.)
Jupiter in Capricorn increase the need to run a tighter ship. It is essential not to discount the evolving reality along with its newly forming priorities. There is no time left for fence sitting when it comes to creating and preserving a future worth living. It is essential to get serious about the work that needs to be done and to put time to maximum use. Capricorn calls for effort, but it rewards it too. Jupiter in Capricorn is a signature for wise judgement. Let us hope that as we move forward from here, that those in positions of authority will hold themselves to highest of standards.
Jupiter in Capricorn puts added pressure on each of us to get it right. You can do no better than to make a full commitment to the work that is before you. The transit supports effort directed toward career or personal goals, building a better reputation, gaining citizenship, higher education, an official status, designation, recognition, or more expertise, being a better parent, caretaker, or citizen.
Jupiter in Capricorn is well aligned with Uranus in Taurus for the whole month. They are good for innovation and for keeping it fresh. On the social and humanitarian note, Jupiter/Uranus set a good backdrop for all that the holiday offers.
On the bigger picture front, the Jupiter/Uranus are in agreement about time on the move and the need to consolidate and update resources. They bring us up to speed with newly evolving priorities and make it easy to entertain new possibilities, to try new things. Together they are naturally geared toward improving upon the past and toward building a more worthwhile framework.
We’ll feel a shift of energy the weekend before Christmas. Venus into Aquarius on December 20 could stimulate a wave of last-minute shopping or extras. The winter solstice (the sun’s entrance into Capricorn) happens on December 21 at 8:20 pm PDT. Venus/Uranus (square) and Mars/Pluto (sextile) keep the social action going strong on December 22 (the start of Hanukkah). By December 24, most of us have logged onto a peaceful and easy glide.
December 25 coincides with a solar eclipse in Capricorn with Jupiter just one degree from an exact conjunction. The eclipse marks this holiday as one that will stand out – from those that came before and those that are yet to come. It may go into the history book (yours, theirs, or ours) as the last of many and/or the first of many. If the eclipse makes direct contact to your natal chart, the holiday could coincide with a milestone, anniversary, birth, or a passage of note. If your birthday falls on or near December 25 then you are in for a notable year ahead. (Justin Trudeau won the recent election in part because of this “king maker” eclipse).
The sun’s trine to Jupiter on December 27 can bring you/us back to life again. The future gains more of our attention. We can have that feel that it is time to get a move-on. We’ll see more folks shopping, travelling and on the go in general. Mercury enters Capricorn on December 28. The moon in Pisces suggests quiet, relaxed, and/or romantic is the best way to enjoy New Year’s Eve.

Allow 3 to 6 months for that cement to set. In the meantime, don’t waste a moment. Put yourself to work while opportunity is within reach.

Despite the obsessive quality of the transit, Mars wants you to put a limit on how much you spend, how much you do and how much you take on. In other words, don’t let the pressure get to you. Drive in the reasonable lane, this regarding finances, physical and emotional wellbeing. Continuing in Capricorn through December 19, Venus in Capricorn can help you to do just that. Venus can help you to make the most of your money and time.

It sets up a good few days for cherishing the moment, honoring the past and for creating a new tradition. Time is a gift, use it well.

By the time Jupiter enters Capricorn on December 2, there will be six transiting bodies in Capricorn, your opposite sign (Venus, Jupiter, the south node, Pluto and Saturn). Together they mark a time has come moment of significance, one that has been long in the works, of harvesting or reaping from the past in more substantial way.
