The significance of what shapes up this month can not be understated. April opens on the heels of a partial solar eclipse in Aries (March 29). This eclipse triggered a devastating earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand (death toll has been reported as over 2000). The battles wage on re the Israel/Hamas conflict and Ukraine/Russian war. Trump has referred to April 2 as Liberation Day, while Canada and the rest of the world readies for the trade war battle. Canadians will head to the polls at the end of the month to elect a new Prime Minister. The month ahead brings the end of Venus and Mercury retrograde, plus the final pass of the Mars/Pluto triple opposition, a transit that has been pushing the envelope since last November.
On the day of the March 29 eclipse, Mercury retrograde backtracked into Pisces. Holding added potency, Mercury is the ruler of the transiting karmic axis north node. The day after the eclipse, Neptune entered Aries for the first time in 165 years!! A signature transit descriptive of the collective experience and reflecting the mass consciousness of the times, Neptune has spent the past 14 years in its home sign of Pisces. In ways big and small, under this transit humanity has continued its search for a realignment with prosperity – our birthright as an intelligent species and as Mother Earth’s custodians.
Through Neptune’s time in Pisces, massive loss and disillusionment have become all too common. Through Neptune’s time in Pisces (14 years), we have continued the search for that which still seems elusive for so many – for salvation from the harsh realities of unnecessary tragedy and loss, and for opportunities that will support our ability not only to live a decent live, but also to thrive. The desire for greater daily peace and harmony for one and for all continues to be a never-ending work in progress.
Neptune in Aries:
Where do we go from here? Neptune in Aries will ignite a fresh spark that permeates our entire collective.
Historically, Neptune’s transit through Aries (every 165 years) coincides with seismic shifts regarding culture, religion, and social reforms. For example, the last cycle (1861-1875) encompassed the American Civil War and Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation made into law. (This proclamation changed the meaning and purpose of the Civil War. It was no longer just about preserving the Union, but also about freeing the slaves.) Under the reign of Tsar Alexander II, Russia underwent significant transformation, including the abolition of serfdom and economic reforms. Other Neptune in Aries cycles: 1697 1712 encompassed the times of Bach, Vivaldi, Handle, and Scarlatti. 1533 – 1548 encompassed England’s break with the Catholic Church and King Henry VIII declaring himself the supreme head of the Church of England. This was also the time of Michelangelo.
Over the next 14 years, fresh inspiration and new schools of thought will gain significant traction. It is a wellspring transit for artistic souls. Many pioneers, innovators, and iconic leaders will emerge, to provide fresh hope and to introduce inventions and opportunities beyond what we can currently fathom. A new world reality is taking shape, and we stand on its threshold. Neptune in Aries calls forth the spiritual warrior in each of us. You will have plenty of time to hear your inner clarion call. From March 30 to November 7, 2025, Neptune will be on an introductory visit to Aries. It will then briefly return to Pisces for a final review (November 7, 2025 – January 26, 2026) before it begins its 14-year long haul through Aries. Notably, by 2026, all the outer planets will be fully transitioned into new signs. In 2025, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will also make introductory visits, while Pluto is already on its 20-year tour. Jupiter, which changes signs yearly, will enter Cancer on June 9.
April opens with both Venus and Mercury working their way through retrograde tours.
Venus retrograde (March 1 to April 12):
Venus retrograde prompts a review of emotional wellness, key relationships, present circumstances, and your personal and material ambitions. Most importantly, Venus retrograde dials up fated circumstances, and prompts a reassessment of the unfinished end of relationships. Circumstances can fall under karmic revisit or karmic fruition. When Venus tours retrograde, the voice of heart and soul invites you to listen to the richer tones, to relinquish as is in your higher interests, and to realign intention for today and tomorrow’s gain.
Venus in Aries and Pisces:
Travelling between two signs (Aries/Pisces) Venus retrograde started March 1 and ends on the full moon in Libra, April 12. On March 27, Venus retrograde backtracked into Pisces. It will finish the retrograde tour on April 12 in Pisces. Venus will advance into Aries on April 30. Over the first few days of May, Venus will retrigger the degree of the March 29 solar eclipse.
Venus/Saturn conjunction:
Between April 7 and April 24, Venus remains in close conjunction with Saturn. This is an exceptionally long meet-up for these two planets. The Venus/Saturn conjunction encompasses the following notable transits:
The full moon in Libra (April 12)
Juno (contracts) entering Scorpio (April 14)
Mercury entering Aries (April 15)
Mars entering Leo (April 17)
The Sun entering Taurus (April 19)
This timeframe marks a significant period of added layering, shaping, and crystallization. It certainly will prove to be an important couple of weeks for those running for office in Canada’s federal election (and for matters pertaining the world’s front lines too.)
Mercury retrograde, March 14 to April 7:
Mercury’s retrograde tour (March 14 to April 7) is of special note this time around as it double tracks over the same degrees of Venus retrograde. Beyond the usual miscommunications and delays, this period emphasizes karmic recall. Mercury began its retrograde in Aries (March 14), backtracked into Pisces (March 29), and will complete its retrograde on April 7, remaining in Pisces until April 15. Mercury will then transit Aries from April 16 to May 10. On April 26, Mercury will re-stimulate the degree of the March 29 solar eclipse, reinforcing the karmic potency of this month and next.
The role of Mars:
Mars has been and continues to be a major contributor. Incorporating a three-month retrograde tour that encompassed the signs of Leo (creative actualization process) and Cancer (safety, safeguard, security, self preservation), Mars has been pushing the envelop on karmic agenda since last fall. Mars enters Leo on April 17, forms the final of three oppositions with Pluto on April 26, and by the first couple of days of May, finally surpasses the post shadow point of its retrograde tour (the distance/degree previously reached).
Mars/Pluto opposition, April 26:
April 26 delivers the final of three oppositions between Mars and Pluto, a transit that has been in effect since mid-October. It has set up battles of will—between self and soul, between the present moment and forces vying to overtake existing reality. Evolution is inevitable, but how we navigate it falls under the domain of free will, under the choices that are made along the way.
The first opposition (November 3, 2024) occurred just two days before the U.S. election, at the final degrees of the Cancer/Capricorn axis. This set up both a culmination and a seeding track with deep ties to the past. The second opposition (January 2, 2025) took place on the Leo/Aquarius polarity, placing us in the thick of social politics and the creative climate. This time was pivotal for U.S. and Canadian politics and ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
The final Mars/Pluto opposition, occurring just two days before Canada’s federal election, sees both planets direct across the Leo/Aquarius axis. As stated above, Mars will surpass its post-retrograde shadow by early May. On May 2, Mars will move beyond 6 degrees of Leo, the point where it turned retrograde on December 6, 2024. This transit turnstile time sets a backdrop for finally moving forward after an extended period of uncertainty. The Leo/Aquarius axis is full of creative potential. It is a future-bound, reinvention signature. (It also sets the action on an acceleration track.) Consider the end of April through May and June as an optimal time to make your move, to undertake a fresh start, or a next step.
