Venus Retrograde: October 3 to November 14

Have you caught yourself taking a deeper dive into soul-searching and bigger-picture questioning? Are you growing more aware of inner restlessness or unsettled emotional undercurrents? Do you feel that you are outgrowing your present status quo —that something is calling you to move beyond, to reach for more?

Whether subtle or increasingly obvious, this is not a time to downplay these feelings. It is time to give heed. Now through next spring, we will move through a significant recalibration time track.

From October 3 to November 14, Venus is on a retrograde tour. Happening only every 18–19 months, this cycle has two main features:

1. Venus retrograde prompts a critical reassessment of attachments and investments (time, heart, money). You may feel inclined to pull back a bit, to create a buffer between yourself and a relationship involvement until you get yourself better sorted out.
2. Venus retrograde holds amplified karmic potency. This transit can bring you to the intersection of destiny on a meet-up with its ripest moment. The unfolding of circumstances can feel fated, perhaps incorporating a sense of deja vu. If this Venus transit makes significant contact with your natal chart, the magnetic force field around you can be especially attractive – particularly in terms of calling forth from that which is already in development in the ethers.

This calling forth can be in terms of karmic fruition or reward, or something unfinished that is waiting to be addressed/taken to the next level. Often, it is a mix. A key person can enter or exit your life.

Venus retrograde begins in Scorpio and finishes in the sign of Libra.

October 6, 7 trigger opportunity and synchronicity – thanks Venus/Mercury (conjunction) and Mars/Uranus (sextile).  Stay alert for an event (a conversation, message, news) or activity that flicks a switch. A job or investment opportunity, or a study track could set wheels in motion. Pay close attention to instincts and insights. They are important clues.

What launches now/this month can continue to occupy your attention and hold prominence through mid-November and beyond.

There are several factors that make this Venus cycle especially notable. Firstly, the inferior conjunction occurs at the very beginning of Scorpio. This is the concluding Scorpio point in a (roughly) century-long sequence of Venus Star Points in that sign. (For more detail on Venus Star Points, check out the work of astrologer Arielle Guttman.)

Referencing humanity’s bigger picture evolution over the centuries, the next sequence of Venus Star Points (one of 5) shifts into Libra (this Libra point launched in 2022). This marks a transition in the symbolism associated with this repeating Venus pattern. We are now at the starting gate of the next history writing chapter, one that will prompt a significant overhaul of social standards and values, including politics and economics. Whether forced by circumstance or led by iconic visionaries, this next stage of our evolution puts added focus on humanity’s primary lessons – that of inclusivity, equality, and justice for all, and the sharing of our knowledge, our wisdom, and the sharing of earth’s resources for the greater good of all.

Sun/Venus inferior conjunction: October 23/24:

On October 23 (at approximately 8:44 p.m. PDT), Venus forms an inferior conjunction with the Sun (0:45 Scorpio). At the inferior conjunction, Venus is situated between Earth and the Sun. This is the midpoint of the Venus retrograde cycle and marks the transition of Venus from evening star to morning star. Venus itself will not become readily visible again until later in the cycle (early November).

At Sun/Venus inferior conjunction (0:45 Scorpio), the soul looks to penetrate an invisible barrier between desire and the deeper motivation beneath that desire. This transit pulls back a veil. The soul calls to the self to observe from a fresh perspective.

This transit trigger is both a seeding and awakening influence. It prompts a deeper examination of what we value, what we feel we need, and our sense of self-worth—and how that forms the baseline for relating and attracting outwardly – to others in general, (i.e. socially and culturally), and regarding important and primary relationships.

Venus retrograde works on two tracks: a personal and short-term track (spanning six weeks, 3.5 months, to nine months approximately), and (as stated above) on a bigger-picture, a 100-year agenda (approximation) of reformulating social and cultural norms.

Venus retrograde in Scorpio looks to understand the deeper motivation behind attachments, old entanglements, evaluations, and expectations.  It can put added focus on areas where we feel stuck and dissatisfied. It is time to examine security issues, the resistance to change and fear of loss that keep us perpetuating more of the same, despite the lack of fulfillment or reward.

So often we can overlook or bury the things we don’t want to address. Venus retrograde in Scorpio simply will not let you do that. The transit sets up an evolutionary opportunity to face the issues and to allow a more honest relationship with self to emerge.

To the plus, Venus in Scorpio (whether retrograde or direct) stokes desire and motivation.

While on tour through Scorpio (the first half of Venus retrograde cycle) Venus prompts a deep dive into internal inquiry/self-examination. For the second half of the cycle, Venus backtracks into Libra (as October 25. just two days after the inferior conjunction with the Sun and one day after Mercury stations retrograde in Scorpio). This switches the concentration from internalized observation to observational interfacing/relating again – in other words, more objective awareness of your interactions/how others are relating to you. again. From October 25 through the end of its retrograde tour on November 14, Venus transits Libra.

If you have pulled back or put your attention elsewhere at the start of the Venus cycle, this sign switch (from Scorpio to Libra) can see you re-engage or resume. This second half of the Venus cycle is a time to observe with your heart and listen to the sentiments and urging of your soul. This second half helps you to become more aware of responses (yours, theirs).

Time clarifies; time heals.

After the deep dive prompted by Venus retrograde in Scorpio, the second half of the Venus retrograde cycle (the Libra portion) can take you on an introductory or test-pilot period of observing, relating, or evaluating in some new way. While Venus tours Libra, more attention is directed toward creating a better balance. We seek/there is a better potential to create equality, justice, harmony, peace, and ease. More appreciation and better compensation are also on the checklist.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio: October 24 to November 13

Coinciding with the Venus retrograde cycle, Mercury puts attention on a key individual or key circumstance. This transit can expose something that has been brewing as an undercurrent or a development that has (to date) escaped your full awareness.

This Mercury retrograde transit can increase motivation, determination, and incentive. It can engage you in a power struggle—with yourself, a situation (or addiction), or another.

On the destiny end of relationships, the retrograde transits hold significant potency of attraction at the soul-to-soul level. You might hear yourself saying, “This is the one that I have been waiting for all this time.” That can be a lover, a pregnancy or birth of a child, or a “lamplighter” – i.e. a teacher or spiritual advisor of note.

On the shadow side, Mercury retrograde Scorpio can dial up issues regarding trust, manipulation, jealousy, intimacy, betrayal, control, and power dynamics.

On the financial side, Mercury in Scorpio can put the focus on debt, taxes, inheritances, and so forth. For some, a financial opportunity (could a job or a financial prospect) could be “the one” that unlocks an important door.

You will feel the Mercury transit quite strongly if you have planets in the fixed signs—Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus, or Leo on or near 20 degrees. This influence will continue to stay triggered through the spring. (Mercury stations retrograde at 20:59 Scorpio on October 24 and turns direct at 5:02 Scorpio on November 13.)

If your natal chart is triggered by this Mercury retrograde transit (Venus retrograde too), you are likely to feel you are moving through an important transition, circumstance, or pocket of time.  Watch for the evolutionary to hold (well) defined checkpoints. There will be a series of knots, layers, and acceleration thresholds to work through. Of course, as always, the process of evolution synchronizes with the unfolding of time.  (For the current cycles, the  evolutionary checkpoints can be more obvious or striking.)

Note that the solar eclipse of August 12, 2026 occurred at approximately 20 degrees Leo. Consider this eclipse the kick-off point for this next eight-month-plus time-track.

Keep an eye on these dates: August 12; November 3–7; November 13–16; February 9–10; February 17–27; March 29–April 6; May 27–June 6. You may find these are important dates when things fall into place for you, or when you are on a threshold-crossing track.

New Moon in Libra: October 10

The New Moon in Libra (17:22 Libra) is accompanied by Venus retrograde forming a dynamic aspect with Mars (square).  This transit can provide an opportunity to revisit and review a relationship or an investment. You may get a fresh insight into what would be in your better interests.

This New Moon holds good prospect for enhancements and improvements. Under the category of fate, it can set a backdrop for reward, for social involvement, opening up to new relationship, for signing a contract, or for starting a creative project or venture. On the other hand, it may be time to recognize yourself as your own best lover/partner, to move yourself in a new direction.

Full Moon in Taurus: October 25–26

The Full Moon in Taurus follows on the heels of the Sun/Venus inferior conjunction, the start of Mercury retrograde, and Venus retrograde backtracking into Libra.

The Full Moon in Taurus (2:45 Taurus) happens on October 25/26 (depends on your time zone.) at 12:12 a.m. EDT, which is the evening of October 25 in Pacific time.  A full moon in Taurus puts emphasis on survival/mortality, and money matters.

The Full Moon picks up added intensity from Pluto (agent of change) in dynamic tension with the sun and moon. Expect this full moon to hold major sway over money markets and politics. Juno, the contract (karmic, actual) asteroid is also in the mix. **In dynamic aspect, Juno in Aquarius suggests the potential to make or break important contracts.

The full moon weekend hosts a hastily called (and ill-timed!) provincial election in British Columbia. This full moon (and both Venus and Mercury retrograde) also holds influence over the USA midterms – situated at focal point on the world’s radar screen.

This is no ordinary moment along the timeline. The full moon backdrop is so potent, it can be a life-altering time for some!
