Forecast Overview:
Most would agree this last Mercury retrograde cycle (which ended on Sept 29) was especially wearing. We will be moving onto a better get-ahead track now, especially once the rest of the debris is swept out of the way. The high-strung, tension producing days leading to the Harvest Full Moon, Oct 3, ultimately serve as a prompt in the right direction, even if it doesn’t quite look like progress in the moment. In fact, this fired-up Aries Full Moon is energized by two very dynamic planetary influences, namely Mercury in opposition to Uranus (a double track on the aspect from Sept 23) and Mars in trine to Uranus. The atmosphere is highly charged. With such stellar synchronicity and intensity, you can bet we are in for a lively and happening time. On a basic note, the Full Moon can ignite a great few days for entertainments, socializing, creativity and romance. Vancouver’s film fest could not have picked a better stellar backdrop.
Of course, if things are already on the hot button, the Full Moon Oct 3 could a fire starter. If you get hit with something unexpected and disconcerting, know that the stars are forcing you to break out of a stalemate pattern and try to keep the bigger picture in mind. The planetary stage is set for a synchronistic leap forward. You may be surprised to see how fast and how smoothly you can create effective change and/or adapt to a new game.
While the pressure can stay high until Mercury and Saturn reconvene Oct 8 and advances into Libra, Oct 9 (to 28), the second week of October can be a productive one re resolution, reconciliation, goal reaching, contract signing, and completions.
The end of Jupiter retrograde (Oct 13) can set the dial on a forward thrust of significance. (The retrograde cycle began mid June 2009.) Jupiter is the planet of envisioning, of expanding horizons, of looking to the future and of moving beyond. It is the planet of increase, hope, and expectancy. Jupiter asks you to enlist more faith and to embark on a journey. Mid-month forward can be a lucrative time to resume (plans, projects, legal matters, educational pursuits, moves, etc.) or to aim in an altogether new direction. For some, Jupiter can deliver abundant opportunity and advantage. For some, Jupiter’s return to direct motion could deliver abundance in an overwhelming or mixed package. (On a more transitory (brief) note, the Sun in trine to celebratory Jupiter (Oct 10) is in perfect alignment for the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. We may see more than the usual number of travelers or shoppers.)
Also on Oct 13 asteroid Ceres will advance into transformative Scorpio, (to Dec 20.) Akin to Pluto’s evolutionary process, Ceres in Scorpio can resurrect unfinished business, from your recent past or from your past lives. It may be a time to revisit, but the added influence of Ceres underscores the fact that things cannot and must not remain the same.
Mars will advance into Leo as of Oct 16. Due to its retrograde cycle (an occurrence that happens about every two years) Mars will enjoy an extended stay in Leo (through June 6, 2010.) Mars in Leo suggests it is high time to refuel with the kindling of “I deserve the best – from myself and for myself”. Keep yourself at your own creative center; don’t let others block your light. Aim to better your best, stay impressive (but don’t be a show-off), and you’ll naturally gain more of the good stuff (positive attention, praise, respect, adoration, love.)
Mars in Leo inspires renewed confidence and creativity, arouses passions, and sparks the undertaking of major initiatives. This Mars transit can be a wonderful stimulant for excellence-in-motion and artistry-in-motion – artists, performers, athletes, and entrepreneurs derive full benefits. It is an especially empowering influence for leadership undertakings too. Mars in Leo places a high premium on the good life and self-gratifications – pleasure, play and romance top the list. Entertainment industries should enjoy positive/lucrative surge during Mars in Leo’s reign. Befittingly, here in BC we are gearing up for the Olympic (Leo) Torch Relay begins on Oct 30 in Victoria BC.
While Mars in radiant Leo can fire up the romance for some, for others, Mars in Leo brings a time when rocking your own world and going it alone can be preferred above all. The (newly) single state can delightful for some. Children – having them, their wellbeing, their activities, ambitions, and achievements, are also a feature topic for Mars in Leo. The downside of Mars in Leo is seen in displays of excess – vanity, pride, superiority complex, center of the universe consciousness, arrogance, selfishness, extravagance, indulgence, hedonism, infidelity, defensiveness, power plays, etc.
Mars will retrograde Dec 20 – Mar 10, 2010. When in reverse motion, the previously cherished, elevated, or glorified can lose luster. Pedestals can crumble and high expectations can fall short. We shall see if Canada’s Olympic opening ceremony can match China’s spectacular show. This Mars retrograde can also suggest there may be surprises and upsets at the podium. While it remains to be seen whether the Olympics will be the cash-cow that local residents and businesses anticipate, the Special Olympics can deliver – and then some!
On another note, confident Mars in Leo could bring a stock market/speculative rally. While in direct motion, gold and other luxury items/status symbols could enjoy a surge, but when Mars turns retrograde we could see trends change.
Saturn’s exit of Virgo (first begun in Sept 2007) can come as a welcome relief to most, especially for Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces, and Gemini folk. We will have one last round of Saturn in Virgo, from April through July 2010, but for now, a reprieve cycle begins with Saturn’s entrance into Libra, Oct 29. This Saturn transit is one that aims to bring the swinging scales into a better balance. The shift can signal a particularly significant (perhaps dramatic) “off with the old, on with the new” threshold crossing time due to the critical (square) aspect formed to Pluto in Capricorn (Saturn’s sign.)
Saturn in Libra sees a more stringent attention focused on our evaluation process re material, social/cultural, and partnership needs; implied is a growing recognition of pitfalls and shortfalls of significance. This Saturn/Pluto aspect can see the demise of compensations that have allowed for a perpetuation of the “settling for less” routine. Saturn in Libra will reduce viable options – ultimately it will serve to make choice making more clear-cut. Saturn in Libra may necessitate compromise, but when Pluto is involved, middle of the road is not the right aim. Those born at the equinoxes or solstices (the start of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) will feel an especially compelling pressure to create major reforms. In the larger context, Saturn in Libra’s cycle necessitates the formation and strengthening of political and economic alliances; we can already see this important re-shaping taking place now. We are just at the very beginning stage of what is yet to come.

This Saturn placement will naturally find you wanting to put the extra effort forward, at least initially. The end of Jupiter’s retrograde cycle (Oct 12) can bring a release or freeing up from recent pressures, and see you relinquish some of your own resistance or blocks too. Once you roll up your sleeves and face what’s necessary, you should find that the doing comes much easier than you had previously anticipated. In fact, a new job or circumstance could stimulate and revitalize you in unexpected ways. Pleasing results will lead to an increase in pride and self-confidence.

The full moon could bring news about a real estate transaction, a family, or professional matter. Something unexpected or unplanned could provide a welcome distraction from recent pressures, or an unexpected easy out. Use your time as efficiently as you can, improve your client base and work on your friendships too; think in terms of preventative measures, and don’t let yourself lag behind. It can be time to consider a renter or a business investor in order to ease your financial bottom lines. Saturn in Libra can bring added concern for aging parents or other family members. You may need to take extra responsibility in this regard, or it may be a matter of forcing others to take on their fair share of the household or family responsibilities too. PISCES (FEB 18 – MAR 20)
The stars have put you under plenty of added pressure; things have probably dragged out for a long time too. The full moon Oct 3 is sure to break you out of this pattern. Aim to free-up and unburden yourself wherever and however you can. This full moon could also bring you to a severing of ties or a breaking point of significance, but as soon as you let go, you should gain instant relief. Of course, perhaps it is a matter of you taking action, but that of allowing a chain of events or set of circumstances to unfold. With Mars in Cancer in an empowered trine to Uranus (in Pisces), (and Jupiter’s influence too) you should see rapid uphill progress. Once the ball gets rolling, things can work out in your favor, perhaps easier and much better than you may anticipate. You should see a lot of action and threshold surpassing in the second week of the month.
