Greetings all,
As most of us are curious to know why there is such intensity now, I have decided to post my forecast intro early. Please scroll to the bottom of the overview for the astrology of Michael Jackson’s tragic demise (previously posted on June 25.)
The individual monthly forecasts will be posted in a few days, near the first of July.
Blessings, Rose
July Monthly Overview:
As I write this column, the important world news stories of the day such as the political steaming in Iran following the controversial election results have been largely eclipsed by the shocking and tragic death of music icon, Michael Jackson. The astrological significators are numerous. His self-proclaimed title: “King of Pop”, correlates to planet Jupiter (king) in Aquarius (pop culture), which is currently teamed up with Neptune (music/iconic) and Chiron (maverick). All three are intensified by their retrograde tours. (Neptune and Chiron both turned retrograde at the end of May, Jupiter turned retrograde on June 15.) As I have written in previous forecast intros, this is a rare triple alignment; Jupiter’s influence is expansive and broadcasting, Neptune’s influence is vast and permeating, and Chiron singles out the extraordinary occurrences and moments. All three are in the atmospheric sign of Aquarius, which correlates to the sudden, unexpected, shocking, bizarre, radical, extreme, exceptional, etc. (Politics, reform, science, social climates and revolutions, and revolutionized lifestyles are also under this sign’s jurisdiction.)
On the day of Jackson’s death (June 25), Mercury in Gemini (dual, multiple; TV/media) squared Saturn in Virgo. In fact, two celebrities died that day within a short few hours. Farah Fawcett lost her battle with anal (Saturn) cancer. Two days earlier, we had heard news of the death of the popular Mercury in Gemini sidekick, Ed McMann, who was aged, cancer ridden, and plagued with financial crisis (Saturn in Virgo).
It is widely reported that Jackson was receiving shots of Demerol and that his doctor (Saturn in Virgo) was present. Cause of death is likely to be largely attributed to the lethal mix (Gemini) of drugs in his system, a misjudgment (Saturn in Virgo) on everyone’s behalf. Referencing the difficult to observe eclipse July 22, examiners may find that obscurities challenge the ability to confirm with certainty.
The Super New Moon on June 22 (an astronomical high tide based on the moon’s proximity to the earth), is a catalyst not only for the exceptional circumstances taking place in the outer world, but for personal lives too. In fact, the next two new moons (July 21 and Aug 20) are also super moons. Along with the eclipse season that is just now kicking into gear, we are at the start of an astrological “high season”, or in other words, an intensified couple of months. July and August can be a time of reaping, of coming full circle, or of trying to duck the boomer rang hurling back our way. If part of your life has been in a holding pattern, July’s stars could be an icebreaker. Once that occurs, you are likely to see things move along at great speed. Of course, this last statement will be more relevant to you if the eclipses or various dynamic aspects hit your chart directly.
At the time of the Super New Moon on June 22, Venus and Mars were in a new phase conjunction in the fertilizing sign of Taurus. Responsive Venus correlates to what is pre-existing and accumulated (and hoarded too); action planet Mars correlates to that which is currently evolving, developing, or inflaming; and Taurus is the sign that highlights net worth, self worth, and survival issues. Put all this together and the new cycle translates into a starting-over threshold of heightened significance. In many instances, a sudden or dramatic switch may occur. Of course, one door closes, another opens; as always, the endings and beginnings, (the past and the future) play off one another.
Note that eclipses will hold energized potency prior to and following their actual event and that the July 7 lunar eclipse is the full moon counterpart for the Super New Moon which has just occurred on June 22 (the pair together were trigger catalysts for Jackson’s tragic demise.) Passing through the moon’s penumbral shadow, the partial lunar eclipse July 7 is an obscured one and it is the second to last of a short-lived eclipse series. On a personal or public scale, we may not see the full impact of this eclipse in the immediacy of the moment. (Renegade Kim John il and his nuclear testing comes to mind here.) The physical properties of this eclipse provide an interesting symbolic reference to Jackson’s short-lived life, with its mysteries, and veils. The lunar eclipse Sun in Cancer (child), Moon in Capricorn (adult) is also fits Jackson’s description as the “man/boy”. An interesting side note, the previous eclipse of this particular series took place in July 1991; the first sexual abuse allegations began after this eclipse. Jackson settled out of court and we did not hear much about it until the second, now famous trial, occurred in 2003.
The July 7 lunar eclipse (full moon) occurs at the mid degree of Cancer/Capricorn (15’) and finds Mars in Taurus square the triple alignment of Neptune, Jupiter, and Chiron. Jackson may continue to stay in the headlines, but note that there may be other scandal, thieving, loss, and controversy to report, political, financial, and otherwise. (Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron in Aquarius can correlate to religious leaders, figureheads, royalty, celebrities, visionaries, iconic or notorious figures.)
The Total Solar Eclipse on June 22, occurring in the very last degree of 29 Cancer (a culmination of significance) is also of special note because it is of record duration. In fact, this is the longest Solar Eclipse of this century. (The next longest will not happen until June 13, 2132.) As I have written in previous forecasts, the effect of an eclipse is analogous to the striking of a musical string; its magnetic resonance/pull will hold influence over a length of time. Translating the duration time of 6:39 minutes into measurement, we can expect that this eclipse will hold jurisdiction over a period of six and two thirds of year. Both financial and astrological analysts project that our current recession may last as long as six or seven years. What characterizes this particular eclipse as pertaining to recession? Note that Venus in Gemini (circulation, finances) is in an exact square (crisis aspect) to Saturn, the planet of restriction, reaching of limits/limitation, and economic sanctions (i.e.: China and the US – among other countries of course – putting the squeeze on North Korea). This sobering Venus/Saturn aspect suggests running out of time, credit, resources or others margins, and of “no option but”. Venus in Gemini references our conceptual and socialized values, and Saturn in Virgo is a worry-some and fearful planetary signature that tends to look at the negatives rather than pluses. Tied together, we see the replication of what drives speculative markets into the downward spiral – in other words, the diminished confidence level of buyers. On the plus side, Saturn in Virgo strives to find what is workable, and is not afraid to do what it takes in order to correct, heal, or fix what needs be.
On the Solar Eclipse, Jupiter retrograde will cross back over Neptune, (it is the second of three passes.) which suggests that this Eclipse has an enlarged scope and broad or far-reaching influence/implications. Astrologer Bernadette Brady (The Eagle & The Lark) offers this interpretation for the July 22 Solar Eclipse, which is part of Saros Series 11 South: the need to make sudden reform as old ideas or methods fail; new systems are required to deal with events; blocks can be violently or tragically removed; need to find new ways to handle the issues. We can certainly see how these statements apply to concerns of the collective hour: the financial landscape, the auto industry, and the global energy crisis.
The Solar Eclipse aspect of Venus in Gemini square Saturn (“crisis in consciousness” aspect) suggests that we are forced to look around for alternate options. They may not come easy, but with effort, they can be found. Recent news in Vancouver showcased how a return to the past (Cancer/Capricorn archetype) finds more and more people opting to grow their own food in their own backyards; some city dwellers are raising chickens too. This is also a demonstration of Venus square Saturn. This is not the time to wait for a handout; it is a time for to roll-up-the-sleeves. The crop yields can be an especially rewarding feast for the hard work realist.
Note: Eclipses hold their strongest effect where they appear. The Lunar Eclipse July 7 starts in Australia and occurs mostly over the Pacific Ocean (somewhere off Kim John il’s test fields). It completes just off the Western North and South America coasts. The maximum of the Solar Eclipse on July 22 takes place over the ocean southeast of Japan (Iwo Jima), and is also effective in the following locations: North India, eastern Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, central China and the, Pacific Ocean just off China. Among possibilities: political/civil, terrorist groups, territorial, religious conflict/fighting, rebellions or risings, labor strikes, natural disasters. A solar eclipse tends to translate into more outer world events, often heralds the birth or death of someone prominent. A lunar eclipse tends to be more catalytic in our personal life journeys; perhaps it is also a reason why we have personalized the passing of the legendary king of pop and the deaths of other two celebrities, who in their heyday were everyday fixtures for many of us.

Michael Jackson’s Tragic Death:
Posted June 25, 2009:
The Super New Moon cycle of June 22, 2009, an astrological high tide, intensifies all. This new moon pairs with the lunar eclipse on July 7, 2009. The influence of Neptune (correlates to music and public figures among other things) is highly activated now by the triple alignment of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron, all in retrograde. The Lunar Appulse Eclipse on July 7, 2009 shows Mars in Taurus in a first square square (exact) to the triple alignment. (Jupiter/Neptune – king, in Aquarius – pop). The current Mercury square Saturn has taken Farah on the same day (just hours earlier), and famous sidekick Ed McMann, just two days earlier.
Unbelievable!
The super new moon has already energized the upcoming lunar eclipse on July 7. This eclipse is obscured – perhaps we can say veiled, just as our sequenced gloved one was too. Who would have guessed such a tragic ending for the king of pop – he had had enough hardship in recent years. My heart goes to his family and his children – as bizarre as he was, he was also a genius.

Michael Jackson: Natal Chart: Aug 29, 1958, 11:53 pm Gary, Indiana
Cardiac Arrest, June 25, 2009, 2:26 pm Los Angeles
Medics pronounced time of death
(apparently 911 call was made shortly after noon; Michael was not breathing.)
The Astrology:
Transiting Mercury (importer) in Gemini (mix) in MJ’s 12th house (drugs), and about to cross the Ascendant (the event);
:T Mercury in square Saturn in Virgo (a mistake) in his 4th house (house of endings; crisis at home; doctor at fault?)
(The cause? Likely a mix of prescriptions combined with ongoing over the top stress & depression – his health had already been reported to be compromised.)
This Mercury square Saturn (Ceres too) was particularly lethal as it squared his 10th house natal Moon in Capricorn (relates to the great/building pressure re the upcoming concert tour)
Transiting Mercury was square his natal Ceres in Virgo;
(crisis; abuse of ingested substances)
Transiting Ceres/Saturn formed conjunction to his natal Ceres (again ingestion.)
(Ceres: a battle with the dark forces, abduction by shadow influences;
can signify a death signature. Ceres is transformative, has a connotation like Pluto)
Saturn is the planet of reaching limits; pushing boundaries, of consequences and of endings; (symbolic of fate and death)
Saturn (the physical body) in Virgo – the already weak system gave out.
The transit position of Saturn forms an exact square to his Ascendant/Descendent angles. (were there demands placed and orders that needed to be obeyed?; strong arming/pleading; this aspect might have put the doctor in a compromised, damned if you do, damned if you don’t position)
Cardiac arrest is seen by the transit of the moon which has just surpassed natal Uranus in Leo (leo – heart; Uranus –sudden interruption = cardiac arrest) and was in an exact opposition to Chiron in Aquarius
(Chiron often is found to be prominent as a death indicator.)
Chiron: the maverick, wounded one, the ostracized one, the lonely one, special one;
Chiron in Aquarius – a shock to the public; an accidental overdose.
The triple alignment of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron transiting his natal 10th, formed an opposition to his natal Pallas and Mercury retrograde. (Chiron is exact on these two planets)
The transiting moon (timing device) had also surpassed an exact square to Mars in Taurus (separation impulse, accident, sudden death) and was exact in square to Venus in Taurus (survival planet in crisis – squared by Ceres/Saturn – both indicative of death and endings.)
The transiting north node and the progressed moon at 1 Aquarius have recently formed a conjunction. It was reported that he was having health issues, and this can be verified by the pressurized transit of Saturn in square to his Ascendant/Descendant over this past month particularly. There are many other indicators.
All this under the super new moon high tide energizer cycle, which has just begun (June 22, 2009). The super new moon is a catalyst for the upcoming lunar eclipse on July 7. (Eclipses can energize prior to or after the actual event.) The July 7 lunar eclipse falls in MJ’s 8th house of death (the eclipse Sun is in the 2nd house). Note the eclipse Uranus position, which is in his 10th house, opposing Juno and activating his 11th house cusp (theme of breaking a contract; liberation from the physical/leaving the body/the physical home/housing.)
Mars and Venus (both in Taurus, the survival sign) are highly activated and will continue to be over this next week. The intensity will continue from now through to the Lunar Eclipse.
For some, the current transits can bring wonderful advances and breakthroughs, for others, sudden loss, sudden switching of gears/redirection or the shock of a significant severing or ending. The next three new moons are super moons so we can expect an intense season ahead.
