Uranus’s exit from Pisces on March 11 has delivered the earthquake/tsunami catastrophe in Japan, and the world offers its prayers for those stricken and their families. But Uranus is not finished yet, not by a stretch.
Uranus’s advance into the fire sign of Aries (starting March 11 at 4:52 pm PST) will divert our attention in a new direction. Scientists warn of the potential of more dynamic activity to come.
Japan’s nuclear reactors, built on the fault lines are extremely vulnerable right now. Heating, steaming, unleashing, wild, out of control – these are signatures of Uranus in the fire sign of Aries (begins today at 4:52 pm PST.) Let us pray that Uranus in Aries brings a swift fix for this potentially explosive situation….
March Overview:
Ben Ali, Mubarak, next Gadhafi. Yes, let’s rid the world of madmen. While passionate outrage is on the hot burner, let us also fire up a more fervent revolution to eradicate poverty, hunger, disease, and greed.
For the past 18 months, the karmic (nodal) axis has travelled through the Cancer/Capricorn polarity. During this time, there has been added concentration on securing bottom-lines and on security matters in general. Preservation and protection has been the mainstay of individual and private life concern, and it has also been the priority at the domestic, corporate, and government levels too. Issues to do with parents, parenting, repressed emotions resurfacing, the aging, retirement, the end of life and quality of life, time and money, etc. have also taken the spotlight. The dominating mood has been anxious and fearful to a large extent. Greed has been rampant too.
This last endings and beginnings cycle has brought circumstances to a stage of ripening, especially so in this last eight months as Jupiter square Pluto pushed a major agenda forward. Think back to July/August of 2010 and you will see that a particular circumstance, ambition, or relationship reached critical velocity and became a major focus or concern. Beyond the immediacy of the moment, Jupiter square Pluto advances profound soul work, for the individual, and regarding the social and collective journey too.
As of the end of February, Jupiter square Pluto cycle has completed, and in so doing, it has taken us to where we are now, standing poised at a new launch pad. As of March 3, the nodal (karmic) axis advances into the Gemini/Sagittarius polarity, to begin the next eighteen-month, race-is-on chapter.
When the karmic axis travels through this sign polarity, it is a transitional time when distinctions can blur, or suddenly, it all gets clear. The wheels spin much faster. There is even more fluctuation going on in the world at large and in personal lives too. Major events occur in more rapid succession. We can be inundated with too much information, input, juggling, or sorting out to do. The speed at which life comes at us necessitates faster learning. One thing hinges on another. Both immediate and the long range become more urgent priorities. Things can grow more complex, contradictory, and confusing, or they can become more focused, obvious, and better defined. There can be large gulfs, or shorter thresholds to cross. We can find ourselves further distanced from our true and desired path, alienated from specific people or cross-sections of society, and we can physically move away/relocate too. When on the right track, we learn how to be better bonded, aligned, and integrated, which of course facilitates the run on a smoother track, and shortens the distance to the goal post.
This sign polarity also directs more attention to neighbours, siblings, and friends. We import, we export, we adopt – not only goods, services, and people, but ideas, trends, customs, opinions, beliefs, and emotions too. News travels faster. The media is particularly influential here. We have already witnessed how social networking media is finding its higher purpose as an essential communications pipeline. (Enough of the trivia stream!!) Did you hear that Libyan protesters used an internet dating site to organize its revolt?
The really big news is the advance of Uranus into Aries on March 11. June through mid August of 2010, we experienced a very brief introduction. A once in a lifetime transit for most of us, Uranus lasted visited Aries in 1927 – 1935. This is highly energized, higher frequency planetary influence. Whenever Uranus is in Aries, our world/the world moves in a completely unexpected new direction. In fact, this last statement is a literal one; when Uranus is dynamically energized as it is now by Pluto (in square aspect), the plates of the earth can shift. Uranus correlates to all atmospheric conditions – geophysical events, social, political, and personal climates too. This “shake, rattle, and roll” planetary influence typically disrupts the status quo and is the agent of unrest, the unexpected, swift progress, and extremes of all kinds. Uranus in Aries also corresponds to new energy initiatives and pioneering, experimental, and revolutionary momentums. Live and lifestyles change dramatically and suddenly.
Uranus will stay in Aries until 2019 and will form a number of alignments with Pluto. When Uranus squares off with Pluto, there can be no hiding, denying, or resisting. Uranus shines the light into the hidden and darkest recesses of soul yearnings (Pluto), both that which we are aspiring to and our necessary shadow work too. It replays cellular memories from days and Ages gone by – of our more enlightened consciousness and of our destructive experiments too.
Uranus square Pluto has been stage setting through 2010, and will increase the present acceleration momentum through 2011. They will reach the first of 7 peaks by June 24, 2012. The last of the Uranus/Pluto square alignments will occur March 17, 2015, but the intensity of the aspect will continue throughout the Uranus in Aries years. This is the most awakening, accelerating, eruptive, disruptive and radically transforming of all transit influences. Yes, indeed, it is shake-down time.
Uranus’s advance into Aries is wedged between Jupiter’s preceding square to Pluto (perfected Feb 25) and by Jupiter’s building opposition to Saturn, which reaches exact on March 28. Effective all month, we’ll see the boiler-point pressure increase as the super full moon builds. The aspect’s influence will be strongest from March 18 and it will continue influential but diminish through mid April.
Revealing and unleashing its major agenda, Jupiter square Pluto has pulled back a hidden curtain, and in so doing provided great opportunity for the brave – and the brash too. We have seen its activation through the Middle East freedom bids and through geophysical, political, and financial happenings elsewhere too. On the exact day, Feb 25, the Dow Jones rose to a record high not seen for several years. As the Jupiter/Pluto square was building to its peak, New Zealand suffered a major quake.
Jupiter’s square to Pluto enlarges the scope of the mission. It also one that sends the race horse galloping out the gate. In other words, that which holds the most promise and potential is the one that supersedes all. Note that this does not imply truth and justice prevails in the short or immediate term, but only that stalwart courage of conviction is primed for significant gain. Yes, of course this potent and opportune aspect can open more enlightened channels, but too often there is more power is found in the exaggerated, the inflated, or in damning prophecies such as: “it will never happen, I can’t, we can’t, etc, etc.”
Jupiter’s opposition to Saturn is a corrections influence. When Jupiter opposes Saturn, the past and its consequences clash with the future-directed building momentum. A knot must be undone, a constriction must be removed. The past (Saturn) can present a block or impasse that must be reconciled with, or a wall that must be scaled before moving on to greener pastures. This aspect is one of forcing it forward, and of shaping and defining where we take it from here. (Jupiter square Pluto occurs approximately every 6 years, Jupiter’s opposition to Saturn occurs approximately every 10 years.)
Adding even more fuel to the happenings of the here and now, Mercury fires up in Aries Mar 9 to May 15. This is particularly long stay for the quick one, occurring because of its retrograde cycle, March 30 – April 15. Mercury in Aries excites, ignites, sparks, quickens, inflames, impassions, emboldens, boils. On the heels of the Jupiter/Saturn opposition discussed in the last paragraph, expect this Mercury retrograde to be particularly effective in dismantling, pruning, blasting or attacking what ever needs to be cleared away. Positively, this spontaneous and trail-blazer influence can fire-up a hot new initiative, wonderful creativity and inspiration.
Should Jupiter square Pluto keep defiant Gadhafi fighting his losing battle, the advance of Uranus into Aries (which is forming a square to Pluto) and Jupiter’s opposition to Saturn should do the trick.

ARIES (March 20- April 19)
If you are born March 2 to March 27, you will feel the catapulting effects of Uranus in Aries throughout 2011. The rest of us will get our turn in the coming years. Uranus can revolutionize everything, starting from making your consciousness, instincts and self-expression come alive in some brand new way, and extending to physical and environmental change too. Uranus is electric and electrifying, it can make you or your life circumstances exceptional. It can bring the sudden or out of the blue, and it can require you to jump in or jump out quick. Impulsiveness and reactionary responses can be hard to tame.
This month, Jupiter in Aries is strongest for those born Mar 29 to April 5. Mercury in Aries, starting March 9, will be felt by all. Jupiter brings you up to speed and puts you on a major growth curve. It can set you free, inspire you, empower you, and open up your creative and intuitive channels. It can increase your social or worldly effectiveness, notoriety and clout. It can also introduce you to new teachers and opportunities. Use Jupiter now through June to introduce yourself or your creativity to a wider audience. Mercury in Aries can see you dive into a short-term project, experiment, or challenge, or suddenly occupy you with a particular circumstance, individual or goal. Someone new could show up. Mercury in Aries can take you through a trial run or fresh start chapter. Once Mercury turns retrograde, you’ll see whether you want to take it further or whether its time to start over.
TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)
You can be exceptionally motivated now and this is good, very good. In fact, it’s excellent. Venus in Aquarius, Mars in Pisces and the rest of the stellar backdrop help you/prompt you to break out of the rut, and to entertain a wider range of possibilities for yourself and your life. Uranus in Pisces has taken you through accelerated development since 2003. You have gone through plenty of transition and challenge during this time. You are now well seasoned with the unexpected, and you can handle change and newness better than you ever have.
Uranus in Aries will spend the next 8 years unlocking your as yet untapped potentials. You will discover capacities, talents and parts of yourself that you didn’t know existed. Since late January Jupiter in Aries has been inducting you and helping you to explore new avenues for yourself. By June, Jupiter will advance into Taurus and you will have even more of substance to put to use.
Jupiter’s building opposition to Saturn can qualify who and what is worthy of your efforts. This aspect can be one of biding your time and planning wisely, but it is also one that makes you struggle with patience or the paying of dues. It can ignite plenty of background frustration, perhaps foreground too. Are you getting paid enough; are you receiving the respect you deserve? If not, it is time start looking elsewhere. You can feel tested at work, at school, or by fitness and health matters. Even with Uranus, Mercury and the Sun in Aries, you could feel that your days, your ambition, your, your education, or your financial progress is coming along too slow. To be sure your attention will be focused on breaking down the walls that prevent you from the freedom you want.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
Uranus leaves Pisces now, but Chiron has just entered this sign, to stay until 2019. They are different energies of course, but suffice to say that life is somewhat like a jig saw puzzle. All the pieces are already cut out; you just have to figure out how they fit together. Destiny is most definitely in the works. You have chosen to work through a major agenda involving social and soul purpose, and you stand poised at the threshold of the next major chapter, right here and right now. For the next 18 months, the karmic axis highlights your sign. This influence can bring the past to the present, or bring you full circle fruition. Typically this can register as a déjà vu on someone or something. It is a time when the unresolved (from this or a past life) is re-animated so that you can move it to a new level. Joining truth and pleasure seeking Jupiter, stimulating Uranus in Aries can be a refreshing added stimulant, like someone just opened all the windows and doors. You can feel very turned on by new goals, activities, and involvements. Newly found independence can feel great too. If you want to meet new people and expand your social network, go right ahead. If you want to spend more time on your own, in order to get to know yourself better, or to develop something creative, well, that’s great too. Ideally, carving out time to yourself and engaging with others is the best use of the current stellar backdrop. Mercury in Aries can put you on the go, even more than you already are. It can also introduce someone new to your life. A friendship could heat up to more, but know it is not about how long it lasts, but what it brings to the table.
CANCER (June 22-July 22)
Mars in Pisces (to April 1) and the Pisces new moon, Mar 4, can put you on the move, in more ways than one. Relocation, expanding or upgrading your marketing or education is ideal. It’s also a time to make other people more aware of you, so get out and socialize more too. Uranus in Aries, could produce a new career or personal life direction, this will be especially so for those born June 22 to 26. How wonderful if you are reaching debt free status or are starting a new and independent life. On the other hand, Uranus in Aries can be uprooting, jarring or shocking, you could feel/be suddenly displaced. If this is the case, know that things always happen for a reason and trust that you are being pushed to where you need to go. This planetary influence can force to you make change you have wanted but have been hesitant or afraid to tackle. For example, if you can’t find the right job, it is time to put courage to task and to experiment with self employment. If Uranus isn’t making a direct hit on your chart this year, it will be in years to come, so perhaps you can start thinking along these lines now. If you have stayed too long in a toxic relationship or circumstance, Uranus in Aries is good at ousting you or blasting you free. It is a matter of one door closing another opening. When Mercury tours Aries, it is best not to plan too far in advance but to put the attention to what is immediately in front of you.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)
You are about to turn a big corner, perhaps you have just done so. The advance of Uranus into Aries, starting March 11, can get things really cooking, especially so for those born July 23 – 28. Mercury’s advance into Aries, starting Mar 9, will fire up great initiative for all Leos, although considering that a retrograde cycle will begin at the end of the month, it is important not to race too far ahead. Explore, experiment, broadcast, sell; stay hopeful and have fun, but don’t bank on promises just yet until you see what Mercury retrograde brings. If it holds true promise, Mercury retrograde will simply refine it. If it is full of hot air, Mercury retrograde will pierce the balloon of false hope or pretence. Taking you out of a problematic or working out cycle and into a manifesting cycle, the nodal axis shift can be fortuitous for you. It can free you, release you, or launch you; it can increase your luck and abundance at many levels. Your social life, community, group or political involvement can increase and be a source of greater satisfaction and pleasure. Your creativity and love life can get a boost too.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
Your social life can be a missing blank, or you can be swimming in thick of it. Either way, the stars are asking you to become more aware of how you do or do not show up for yourself and how this forms the basis of what you get out of your interactions. Do others ignore your feelings and needs, or do they support you and welcome you with open arms? The nodal axis shift will put the focus on discovering your personal truth and on setting yourself free of relationship entanglements. It will prompt you to rely on your intuition more. In this next 18 month cycle, you could make a significant career or home change. Perhaps you’ll return to school for additional training or go back to something you have previously shelved, such as a career option, a project or personal goal. You could even return to a place you have once lived, whether you do this through travel or you actually move. If you have thought about writing, this nodal axis shift brings the time to get down to the business of it. The empty nest syndrome, the departure of a family member, taking a stand or defending yourself legally, the growing distance from the recent past – all are a part of the growth cycle. Do not allow outside judgment to impinge upon you. While successful relationships require give and take, this is a time when you should not force yourself to fit in around others, make them work around you instead (within reason, of course.)
LIBRA (Sept 22-Oct 22)
A previously cherished ambition, expectation or job prospect can be falling by the wayside now. It is time to let this go. Of course, you may be in the throws of analyzing why it had to happen this way, but for now, allow yourself to be here and now. Too, you can be letting go of a problem or circumstance that has consumed you for some time. Although there is still resolution to be done, and residue that will remain, the stars are urging your attention forward. In time this concern will weave into the background of your consciousness in such a way that it will no longer have the same energy charge. It is time to look for fresh opportunities and to expand your horizons – get better educated, market yourself more, get involved more. There is a new world out there and it is essential for you to introduce yourself to it and bring yourself up to speed. If you can apply what you are about to be exposed to, it can take you leaps and bounds forward, this in regard to your work, your creative endeavours, and in social matters too.
Jupiter and Uranus in Aries embolden you now. They prompt you to stand apart from the crowd, to define yourself as a separate and distinct from the projections others put upon you, and to claim the attention you crave. Mercury in Aries can heat things up and keep you especially busy this month. It can bring a particular relationship, ambition or concern to the foreground. You are likely to make swift progress, especially March 9 to 16. In fact, March 14 – 16, jump in, tackle it, go for it – these are great come together days.
SCORPIO (Oct 23~Nov 22)
You are about to stumble on something new that could change the way you work or the way you approach a challenge. A new work project could suddenly land in your lap too. Busy days lie ahead. Expect to have your hands full through May/June. If you are now in the process of designing a new schedule or agenda for yourself, you will be wise to put the priority on your immediate needs and short term objectives and figure the rest out as you go along. Mercury’s retrograde cycle can deliver sidetracks or add-ons, and will likely force you to make modifications and adjustments.
For the next 18 months, the nodal axis sign advance can prompt you to put more effort into your financial get-ahead. What you do today benefits you immediately and it sets you up for down the road too. For some, financial increase comes readily, i.e. an inheritance or settlement, an investment, a payment, bonus, or royalty come due. For others, it’s time to put greater due diligence toward increasing your client base and profit margins, or take a more aggressive approach to cut back on wasteful or extravagant spending. Jupiter, Uranus and Mercury in Aries can also produce instant reward for your due diligence regarding diet and health upgrades.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov 22~Dec21)
You are running two distinct tracks right now. Living with yourself, dealing with family interactions and your private life needs, these are one channel, your outer showcasing runs on an entirely different channel. Are they a dichotomy? Perhaps, but no one really knows this but you. Light and shadow; the deeper you explore, the more powerful the light becomes. The one feeds the other. Chiron and Neptune, and for a much shorter time, Mars (through April 1) will keep you in a soul search and recovery mode. Let these programs run in the background, they will be available any time you want to come back to them. In the meantime, Jupiter, Uranus and the nodal axis prompt light an inviting fire you cannot ignore. Along with Jupiter, Uranus can launch a new career, or a new career chapter, perhaps beyond your wildest expectations. Romance or newly found freedom can fall in this category too. The next several months can deliver an exceptional departure or take-off time. Your creativity, opportunity, and luck are reaching a peak. Jupiter can be especially bestowing now through June. It is not a time to hold back. March 14 – 16 you can make great strides but note the full moon March 19 can stretch or stress you. Then again, the full moon could be simply deliver a decisive moment when you figure out how not to waste your time, or you figure out what direction or choice works best for you and for those around you too. Jupiter’s opposition to Saturn can see you achieve an ambition or complete something that has been in the works for a long time. On another note, this planetary pairing can force you to hold off or stretch it out a little longer, to be more accountable, or to make it official or take a legal step. It also asks you to walk the talk, and to create something more tangible to show for yourself.
CAPRICORN (DEC 22~JAN 19)
Under the current stellar backdrop, your ambition can be less career driven and more focused on upgrading the quality of your personal life. Along with Jupiter, Uranus in Aries launches a new home and family chapter. Jupiter will leave Aries by June, but Uranus keeps you on a 7 year plan. During this time, you will be exposed to a great deal, and you will evolve in leaps and bounds too. The point of it all is to learn how to express your feelings and needs more freely, and to create a life of your choosing, rather than simply go through the motions in a life/life circumstance that has been heaped on you. Over the years you will learn to extricate yourself from actions based on obligation, guilt, or “should”. By the time Uranus finishes up in Aries, you may be surprised at the new person you have become. In the shorter, more immediate term, the nodal axis advance will progressive create a shift from the polarization you have felt and experienced, to better integration (inwardly and outwardly). Jupiter and Mercury in Aries puts you on a specific get it said and done mission. Jupiter and Mercury can also launch a search for a new address or an investment property. If possible, try not to finalize a deal or sign a contract during Mercury’s retrograde tour (Mar 30 to April 23.) Of course, you can’t stop everything – smaller purchases or decisions are okay to make.
AQUARIUS (Jan 20~Feb 18)
Mars has recently left your sign, but Jupiter, Uranus, and Mercury in Aries will continue to keep you fired up and moving faster. Now is the time to introduce yourself to new ideas and people too. Go exploring. Some of what you will run across can be of fleeting interest, but even so it is good flint, and it serves the bigger-picture’s evolving process. It isn’t necessary to have everything figured out right now. Keep short sighted now and let tomorrow show you the way once you get there. In the meantime, stay open to synchronicity’s gifts. As you know Uranus is the planet of the unexpected. At any moment, anything could happen – and when it does, it could completely alter how you want to play it next. You never know when a key person or key opportunity could appear. Keep in touch, keep in circulation. Venus in Aquarius, to Feb 26 can bring you added attention and favour. It’s also one that puts you in the mood for a style upgrade, by all means experiment, and witness the good it does you.
If you have something big in the works, the Jupiter/Saturn opposition Mar 28 could bring it to a successful peak. This aspect could deliver a big event, (such as a graduation, proposal, an important visitor, a conference, a trip), or a major contract – perhaps to do with publishing, performing, marketing, teaching, travel. It can bring significant professional recognition too. Legal matters can work in your favour. You could gain citizenship status. If it’s time to sign a lease, hire an agent, or shop for a new vehicle, computer, etc. remember to do so before or after Mercury turns retrograde (March 30 – April 23.)
PISCES (Feb 19~March 20)
Now to April 1, Mars in Pisces will add fresh fuel to your new fire. You will find yourself especially driven for the next month or two; in fact, you are likely to hit overdrive. Mars provides plenty of ambition, stimulus, and vibrant creative inspiration, and it also boosts your physical energy too. (You are going to need it!) You can be so busy doing your own thing; you may hardly notice what’s going on around you. You can also be quite restless now too, (geez, how does that happen?), but Mercury in Aries should take care of that. Try to get the deal sealed and your essential priorities covered and out of the way before the retrograde cycle begins (end of the month). Jupiter in Aries keeps your material ambition high through June, your libido too. Uranus helps you to discover new capacities and resources. Keep all the doors open, keep exploring all your options, at any time; you could stumble upon a new income stream or worthy investment. Jupiter, Uranus and the rest of the gang can also fire up a hot new relationship. You are entering a particularly vibrant cycle of fresh starts and firsts. For some, the nodal axis advance (an 18 month development) can bring a new career direction, (perhaps you’ll have two going at once), or a new physical address. It also puts an added emphasis on aging parents, extended family, family legacies, property investments, the long distance, or the long range.
