Canada’s nail-biting Hockey gold win has capped off an absolutely fabulous two weeks of Olympic glory for Canada and for Vancouver. On a personal note, I have been lucky to enjoy this amazing history-making event right in my own backyard. The whole city was transformed, hearts were glowing for sure. It was wonderful to see so much national pride! God, I love this country!!
For the past couple of months, Mars in Leo retrograde has been forcing each one of us to spend more time living with ourselves. In some cases, the pull back has been productive, in other cases the confrontation has been a painful look-see. As I have said in previous writings, the intention of this Mars retrograde cycle has been to return self to center. If you are still blaming the props or players for your present circumstances, then you are not getting full value out of the transit. The key is to acknowledge reality for what it actually is and to find a way to optimize on the best of moment, despite it all. Noting that Saturn in Libra has also traveled in retrograde motion (a hold-up influence in effect since mid Jan), it is likely that choice making and reconciling (with yourself and your present circumstances) have been even more perplexing. Saturn will continue in retrograde to the end of May suggesting there’s more reconstruction to do, but the end of gestational Mars retrograde (Mar 10) signals a time to hatch that which you have been sitting on up til now. If you are still in a quandary about how to forge ahead, start by doing what you can do. Responding to the moment’s dictates will be the key that unlocks the next door.
Jupiter aligns with the sun as the month starts, suggesting more opportunity abounds, especially when you allow creativity and the inspirations of the moment to guide you. There will be challenges along the way, but important thresholds can be crossed. It is a month of realizations, surpassings, corner turns, critical breakthroughs and of severing from the past, especially around the spring equinox, Mar 20.
Mar 3/4, Venus conjunct Uranus sees Canada’s government return to work and release the new budget which has already been exposed to the media. These dates are opportune for financial and social matters. There can be surprises too (expenditures, announcements, hook-ups, splits, etc.) Hollywood hosts the academy awards Mar 7. It will not be a surprise to see Avatar, a technological groundbreaker steal the thunder. Venus enters Aries and Mercury conjuncts Uranus on this date; the world is ready for a new way of being, doing and seeing.
On heels of Mars returning to direct motion, Vancouver’s Paralympics begins on Mar 12, hopefully with better winter weather conditions for the athletes.
The days preceding and following the new moon Mar 15 are particularly energized. It is time of enhanced potentials, emotionalism, inspiration, significant losses and gains, of letting go and of opening up (perhaps swelling up too.) Mercury in Pisces aspects Uranus; be on the lookout for news, for synchronicity, and for more than the usual to circulate. A day or so of unexpected weather is also a potential too.
Mar 14 -25, the stars take us through plenty of threshold crossing moments; expect to pack a whole lot of living into a short period of time. Mar 29, (the day before Passover begins) delivers a full moon in Libra. Relationships can be strained, equilibrium (material, emotional) can face challenge yet again.
The momentous has begun our year and will continue to deliver a living-it-large chapter. The month of March signals a spring forward thrust. Seize advantage while you can and don’t waste a precious moment.

ARIES (March 21- April 19)
The stars are gearing up and you are likely to feel that the budding potentials are gaining on reality now. While Pisces dominates the sky, it is time for the total immersion program. Let the creative process envelop you, and no matter what it looks like in the moment, allow the healing flow to run its course. If you can tune out the anxieties, fears, and outside pressures, you will find confusion dissipates and cognition increases. Once downloads are complete, you will feel primed for action – and have a map in hand too. The end of Mars retrograde signals the beginning of your forward thrust chapter. Those born on or near Mar 21 should feel particularly fired up, not only by Mars regaining direct motion on Mar 10, but also by the advances of Venus (Mar 7), Mercury (Mar 17) and the sun (Mar 21) into Aries. For all Aries, March is a month when you should find that even though margins or options may have shrunk, that you can accomplish more efficiently and with less wastage too. The advance of Ceres into Capricorn can put the spotlight on career ambitions and on legitimizing yourself or your needs in some significant way. Dealings with authority, claiming your authority and/or establishing better boundaries constitute a work in progress (and could be especially challenging between Mar 19 – 23), but stay driven and you should make good headway once you surpass the full moon and month’s end. The full moon Mar 29 can be initially challenging or costly, but you should see positive results. This full moon is also lucrative for social, financial or creative undertakings. Continue to manage your time and resources wisely and try to stay a step ahead as best you can. Mid April will bring another Mercury retrograde slowdown.
TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)
When you look back you will see how much living and growth has occurred in a relatively short span of time. Now that Mars resumes direct motion (Mar 10), you will find yourself poised at the start of yet another chapter in your accelerated reinvention program. Jupiter and the rest of the gang in Pisces (Sun, Venus, Mercury, Uranus) suggest the potentials of the moment are wide open and could take you in just about any direction. Pisces influences can see you relinquish plenty too (people, positions, jobs, goals) – whether in favour of more attractive prospects, or because you have lost your mojo or your hope. Mars will continue in Leo until June, so know you will have an ample window of opportunity to reposition yourself, physically, materially, mentally, and spiritually too. While social opportunity can be in ample supply (especially Mar 13 – 15), time alone can also be productive. Prioritize your personal ambitions, dive in deep, and give yourself your all. Ceres in Capricorn (Mar 19 through Jan 2011) can feed your confidence, and bring you to a more mature perspective on what you need to do to build a better bridge to tomorrow. The full moon Mar 29 could see you challenged with financial health, or work related matters. Others may not be as dependable or as available as you need them to be.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
You could be readying to take a big leap of faith re your career or some other major investment. Major risk is involved too. The stars are aligning now in a way that could radically alter your life. Take control as best you can now. Clear your slate, debt and clutter; restructure material and outer world priorities. Aim in the direction of maximum freedom and be on the look out for something (or someone) brand new. Progressively, a new lifestyle will reveal itself to you. When tomorrow shows up, make sure you are ready for it. Mar 21 can be a day when the stars favour you. You should see things fall into place quite easily and readily. Mars direct can see you gain more ground/make successful inroads with others. Studies, writing projects, sales or advertising campaigns, public presentations, exhibitions, social involvements, negotiations, and legal matters should prove to meet with added success. The full moon Mar 29 could bring an unexpected communiqué, a surprise message, messenger, or reveal hidden opportunity.
CANCER (June 22-July 22)
Future plans, goals, or opportunities can consume your attention now. While it is easy to coast or slack off when Jupiter travels through Pisces, this planetary influence is best used to aspire higher, so aim to expand your search and your horizons too. Some of you can feel encouraged, perhaps even lucky or gifted, and some of you can feel completely lost at sea. If the latter is the case, know that your overwhelmed stalemate will soon be replaced by a more clear-cut agenda. Mars in retrograde may have seen you through a particularly creative or resourceful period but if the reverse is true and you have felt stuck, at least it prompts a questioning and review cycle, which eventually prompts answers too. The drive to get out of your own quagmire will intensify once Mars resumes direct motion (as of Mar 10.) This new impetuous can translate into a new career direction, business ownership, or a newly single or newly committed relationship status. First time parenting is also on the check list. Jupiter in Pisces (through June 5) can open your life up in unexpected ways. This added benefits planet can provide opportunity to travel, relocate, or study; it can improve your social life and love life prospects too. Mar 3, 4, 7,8 can be fortuitous (even lucky), amorous, or empowering; creativity is in good shape, you should find have a knack for shrewd planning or well timed actions and talks. Mar 14 to 16 can bring excitement, put you on the move or hustle, perhaps suddenly or unexpectedly (for the most part, it should good news.) As the month advances and Venus (Mar 7) and Mercury (Mar 17) and the sun (Mar 20) move into Aries, you are poised to break new ground in essential ways. Your life is a work in progress. Polish it up; aim to make it look shiny and new all over again.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)
Itching to get a move on? You are likely to feel a building momentum at month’s start as Mars in Leo nears the completion of it’s (3 month plus) retrograde cycle in Leo. You will face occasional pressure, but beyond this, you should find the entire month to be a productive one, so by all means put pedal to the medal. New potentials, opportunities, concerns, and solutions can appear out of the blue, especially in this first week. Watch for surprise, (financial/emotional) Mar 3, 4. Mar 6 – 9 you could get through a lot more than you anticipate; money can come or go; negotiate, unload, spill the beans; a major agreement, purchase, contract could come to fruition. Legal matters can be advanced too. Once Mars resumes direct motion, you will find yourself off to the races. Mars will continue to light the good fire for you through June 5 when it will leave Leo for Virgo. Use this time to better your best. With Saturn’s influence, you should be able to find a successful mix of confidence, initiative, and practical realism leads you to solid achievement/victory. Mar 9 could put you under strain or added (performance) pressure, but overall, Venus in Aries (Mar 7 – Mar 31) should make you feel charged and happy to be at the start of a new chapter. Do as much as you can to get a faster move on this month. April 17 – May 11 brings another Mercury retrograde cycle.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
With so many planets gracing Pisces at month’s start (Venus, Mercury, the Sun, Jupiter and Uranus) you may feel completely consumed with a particular relationship or financial matter. If you have been living for the potential but have not been well grounded, you may be in for surprise. However, relationships or circumstances that are going well for you could hit an even higher note. The current Mars transit prompts you to become more observational, and of course, the more you observe, the more you can harness, and the more you will recognize from within yourself too. Mars will continue in its present building/stage setting and refortifying position until the beginning of June, suggesting the next few months are a fertile time to dedicate your efforts toward a specific goal. Venus in Aries, starting Mar 7 can renew your confidence and sense of deserving. If you are in the market, Venus can open the door to new financial prospects and it can energize your love life too. Mar 7- 8, creativity and assertiveness is in good shape; you can harness/muster your best. The new moon (Mar 14) could awaken, enlighten, or prompt you in some unexpected way. The vernal equinox (Mar 20) can be a critical push comes to shove boiler point for all of us. The full moon Mar 29 can put you under added emotional or financial strain, but ultimately it will force you to reconcile with yourself and force you out of a stalemate situation.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
You can feel swamped or overwhelmed at month’s start. Some of you may feel that your efforts or the results they generate could feel like a drop in the bucket compared to what you need to see happen. Some of you can feel completely immersed in your work or daily get go. If you love your work, great, but if it isn’t your passion, it is still important to give it your all and aim to achieve something of significance to show for yourself. In all areas of your life, keep end results in the forefront and remember how rewarding it can be to receive unsolicited attention and praise. Mar 3 could bring a positive breakthrough or opportune saving grace. While the completion of Mars direct occurring Mar 10 delivers the go signal, things are likely to start to cook as early as Mar 7 when Venus advances into Aries. The new moon Mar 14 can bring the previously unnoticed or overlooked into full view. Mar 20 to 23 can draw a more definitive line in the sand, especially so for those born around Sept 23. The high impact/force the envelop full moon Mar 29 can bring you to even greater realizations.
SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
Start of the month stars are in your favour, so soak up as much as you can! Mar 7 or soon after, you could see an obvious momentum shift and/or feel a need to focus on one issue or project more specifically. You could uncover something important or discover something new that could be just the ticket. Mars direct (Mar 10) can see professional or parenting matters advance. You should be able to position yourself more favourably (material/situational), and advance your relationship with those in positions of authority too. (You could be favoured pick for a prestigious position or job upgrade, receive an award, negotiate a significant contract, or gain acknowledgement of note, etc.) The full of potential new moon Mar 14 could bring significant news, information or opportunity. Watch for a key person, a meeting or an event of significance. Mar 19 – 22 is a great time to start on a new job, project or goal; the vernal equinox can bring you to a successful launch-point or start over time. The emotional full moon Mar 29 can bring relationship, financial, or contractual matters to a head.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
March’s start could find you completely submerged – inside yourself or completely consumed with family and private life matters. Cave dwelling can deliver much needed healing, relaxation, and spiritual replenishment, or it can prove productive, especially when you allow yourself extra time for creative meanderings/discovery. As early as Mar 7, you are likely to feel a great energy surge. The advance of Venus into Aries and in favour to a re-empowered Mars (as of Mar 10) can be wonderfully revitalizing to body, mind, and soul. You could find yourself in higher social or professional demand. Where-ever you aim, success can be more ready met; your love life can gain a spark too. Mar 20 – 23 can see you cross a definitive set-a-course-and-go threshold of significance. It is an appropriate time to sign/settle a contract or to make a fuller commitment, to yourself, a relationship, project, or goal. The full moon Mar 29 can bring financial opportunity or social or romantic delight, or it could bring a relationship departure.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
You may start the month completely immersed in studies, projects, or the people who surround you now. You could find yourself basking in a center of attention position, or drawing your education and entertainment from your fly on the wall perspective. Pisces influences can find you exceptionally attuned to supply and demand, so it can be a successful time to market yourself or your wares. Venus in Aries (Mar 7) and the return of Mars to direct motion (Mar 10) signals the start of an energy and ambition drive. You might have a lot (more) on your plate, but true to good old Capricorn head down, plough-ahead fortitude, you know that it’s up to you to get yourself to where you need/want to be. There may be times when your sharper edge appears, but if so, at least you are getting it out rather than holding it in (make sure you don’t hold on to it either, keep moving forward.) Through May, the stakes are high, so too, the potential reward. Play it smart and optimize on the best the moment has to offer, no matter what it calls for. Mars urges you to own up to the necessary and get the job done – you know you are the only one who can. Mar 14 – 25, it can be one thing after another. Mar 20 – 22 can bring a particularly critical line in the sand, especially for those born around Dec. 22. Once you take a step forward, you are likely to be glad you did.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
These past few months of Mars retrograde have been calling for you to examine your socialized context, in other words – how, where, when and why you plug in the way you do. Whether consciously or forced upon you, Mars retrograde (operative since Dec) has taken you through a regroup phase. Now that the planet is resuming direct motion, it is time to make your way again and to re-engage with the world at large. Consider the now as a fresh start chapter and give the new day your best shot. Jupiter and the rest of the gang in Pisces asks that you surrender all preconceptions of your survival needs, transcend your personal limitations or “ya but” reasoning, and that you create ample room within your heart and mind (wallet too) for the budding new potentials to make themselves better known to you. In other words, detach from outcome, aim to create a blank slate or score sheet, and know that the process of loss or relinquishing can open the gateway to greater gain. Allow yourself to be totally committed to where you are right now and let the rest fill itself in. Venus in Aries (Mar 7 – April 2) can stimulate fresh ideas, new plans and projects, and introduce you to new people too. Energized by a push come to shove momentum, the spring forward new moon (Mar 14) through the full moon April 27 can be particularly active, productive and generating.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)
Wonderful opportunity energizes for you now, let it come your way naturally and rise up to greet it too. The end of Mars retrograde (Mar 10) signals the beginning of a healing and improvement chapter. You should find better work prospects are more readily evident. Too, you should find a greater ability to triumph over your physical (diet, abstinence, health, or exercise regimes), emotional (confidence levels) or creative challenges (the daily grind, your daily schedule, material and financial matters.) You can see things open up for you (especially new financial prospects) as early as Mar 7. The fecund new moon Mar 14 should pump you full of vibrant inspiration, hope, creative initiative, and infuse you with great physical energy too. This new moon is particularly instigating for those born Mar 13 – 17. Mar 20 – 22 can deliver another peak break-free or breakout chapter. You could feel the pull of the full moon (Mar 29) building as early as Mar 25. This full moon could see you face an all or nothing conflict; the challenge will be to find a better balance (material, emotional, or physical.)

Rose’s Hockey Prediction:
Sun Feb 28 brings a super full moon in Virgo, opposition to the Sun in Pisces with Jupiter conjunct. On the minus side, Virgo correlates to mistakes (the Canucks have made a few – like losing to the USA on “Super Sunday” last week!) and on the plus side, Virgo correlates to honing skills, fixing, and improvement (hopefully they won’t make any more!) Pisces correlates to hope and redemption; Jupiter expands Pisces potentials, both plus and minus. (Note that Jupiter is also the planet of religion, and that’s how the world refers to Canada’s passion for hockey.)
The Canada/Us hockey game takes place (12:15 pm PST) shortly after the moon reaches fullness (8:35 am PST). It should be an intense a face-off for these two magnificent opponents.
The one with the most to lose (full moon in Virgo) and the most to gain (Sun/Jupiter in Pisces) is likely to win the game. Canada’s hockey reputation certainly fits that description. Although Ryan Miller and Brian Ralfaski have terrific stars, Crosby and Luongo (and Niedermeyer) have stellar favour too.
The previously crowned victor (the USA, last to win Olympic gold) falls, and religion -(Jupiter/Pisces, or in other words, hockey in Canada) – sweeps it away.
Canada may not own the podium (“win the war”), but we are likely to win the golden battle (hockey gold.) Go Canada Go!
