Someone has asked me to comment on the results of the Stanley Cup Hockey finals and the riots in Vancouver.
The telling astrology of game 7 was the fact that the transiting moon was in Sagittarius – this favours the visitor/foreigner. That it was a full moon and an eclipse too increases the imbalance and intensity of it all, making the game one-sided. That the sun was in Gemini alludes to the apparent winner (going into the game, the Canucks were favoured to win) rather than the actual winner – the moon in Sagittarius, leading to a (surprise for some) victory for the Boston Bruins. Eclipses are traditionally considered as ominous, although I don’t ascribe to this fatalistic interpretation.
The humiliation was doubled (Gemini) because we/the Canucks lost on home turf. The extremity of what happened after the game in the city is another statement on the very damaged collective psyche – how we reach for violence first as a way of expressing our distorted emotions –not only the disappointment over the game, but the general frustration of ordinary lives channelled into one great big ball of destructive energy. Aggression crossing the line into violence is far too ready trigger within the general collective psyche. At least those rioting elsewhere, such as in Middle East, have a worthy cause to fight for. I am usually so proud of my city, last night I felt shame and deep disappointment, not about the game loss, but about the shocking barbaric display in Vancouver’s downtown core.
Luongo’s progressed moon is in Virgo, which can be a weak position. No matter how hard you try with a Virgo moon, there’s always more you could have done, or someone who can do it better. (At least that is a typical psychology, you aren’t damned if you have this position! Nothing beats Virgo’s skill. The moon in Virgo can be accomplished too, let’s not forget Luongo’s successes.) Tim Thomas on the other hand, had the destiny stars on his side. (His progressed Mercury/Moon was right on the lunar eclipse karmic axis (south node), which duplicates his own birthchart, and the transit of Venus trine Saturn was favourable to his Aquarius moon. He was so cool, collected, and confident throughout. He knew he was going to win, he had it written all over his demeanor. This was in sharp contrast to Luongo’s hope-I-can emotions. (Luongo’s birth moon is in Cancer, which can run the gamut of up and down emotional tides.)
Monthly Overview:
June 1 delivers the first of three eclipses in close succession. Beginning in Siberia and western China, this partial solar eclipse travels high across the northern hemisphere, across the Canadian north, and reaches Iceland, etc. by sunset. The recent volcanic eruption in that country can be attributed to this eclipse. While the exact date is certainly one to watch, the effect of an eclipse can be witnessed in the months preceding and following. It can continue to be of influence for months, sometimes years.
When an eclipse activates, it accelerates the pace on our evolution, this by manifesting our next task, learning, or relationship. In other words, eclipses can be fate generating. Solar eclipses tend to produce significant events in the outer world while lunar eclipses tend to hold more influence over our private lives, although both can do either. An eclipse can come and go with little notice in your life unless it makes a direct aspect to your chart. If your birthday falls on an eclipse, you will find the year to be pivotal.
Saturn in harmony to the Gemini Solar Eclipse of June 1 suggests tangible progress is more possible now. If you have a need to communicate, a project or cause to promote, a significant change to make, or a deal to negotiate, know that a productive platform is now set. Having said that, stay flexible and negotiable, and watch for something more to be revealed or exposed. The X factor or hidden element could be an advantageous missing key. Then again, the unexpected could be unleashing, unhinging or even blind-siding. You should be readily able to tell which way the wind will blow for you. If you are the right track, the eclipses can be enhancing. If you haven’t figured out that you are on the wrong track, the eclipses will make sure to inform you.
Pisces is the archetype attributed to the hidden or latent potential, to ultimate value and meaning, our unconscious ideals, and to ultimate other too. Neptune, ruler of Pisces turns retrograde on June 3, just after June 1st solar eclipse. Chiron in Pisces, turns retrograde on June 8. When a planet changes direction its potency is increased. When Pisces is animated, we can get inspired and swept away, or we can hit disillusionment and loss. Duality, contradiction (Gemini), illusion, confusion, drain, even paranoia (Pisces) can be part of the eclipse mix.
Ceres is a major feature of all three eclipses. (Orbiting between Mars and Jupiter, Ceres is classed as a dwarf planet.) On an emotional and karmic level, Ceres in dynamic tension to the karmic axis suggests the resurfacing of significant unfinished business and a re-energizing of subconscious complexes. On the event level, Ceres in Pisces is another conduit for Mother Nature. Weather extremes offer plenty of examples of her present state. Like the weather, when aggression and anger is released, it can rage beyond control. June 15’s lunar eclipse path across the Middle East suggests the tidal waves of change continue to stay highly activated in that region.
The positive ignition of Ceres in Pisces can unlock a secret doorway that reveals a much sought after potential. For some, it can be a time of realization of an ultimate destiny, in other words, the dream can become real. For others, what can reveal may be the stark truth or reality you hoped you’d never have to face. Either way, destiny has scheduled a day of reckoning.
The lunar eclipse (full moon in Sagittarius) on June 15 is notable for several reasons. Firstly, it is of particularly long duration. Lasting 100 minutes, it suggests there is a lot of extra energy exchange is happening in the cosmos. The entire event will be seen from the eastern half of Africa, the Middle East, central Asia, and Western Australia. None of the eclipse will be visible from North America. This eclipse is intensified by its proximity to the Galactic Center. (The eclipse sun and Mercury are in close opposition, Ceres squares it, and the lunar eclipse moon in Sagittarius crosses it. That is a huge transmission download.) This lunar eclipse, the solar eclipse of Jan 4, and the upcoming July 1st solar eclipse references back to 1992. What was going on for you then? What were the circumstances of your life, what changes occurred? An entire chapter of your evolution has completed and a new one is now beginning. It is now time to take what you have learned and apply it to the next level. Do you realize it was about 19 years ago that personal computers were first making it into our lives? (It’s been 17 years since the Canucks made it to the hockey play-offs. This time, it should be a victory run.)
After nearly five months in retrograde, Saturn stations direct on June 12. When any planet is retrograde, we are taken through an experiential intensification chapter. It forces an added degree of separation in order for awareness to grow. The purpose of Saturn’s retrograde cycle is to reformulate your consciousness, to give you a testing experience of the world and of your inner reality too. With this reprogramming cycle now complete, Saturn’s return to direct motion suggests we are now sufficiently fuelled for action. The lunar eclipse catalyst of June 15 can accelerate the necessary confrontation with reality.
Last but certainly not least, on June 4, Jupiter, the big planet, advances into Taurus. Jupiter takes twelve years to make a complete journey around the zodiac. Once every twelve years, it will visit your sign and as it does, it launches a new cycle of envisioning and growth. Since the end of January, Jupiter has tenanted Aries. No doubt we can all agree this first half of the year has absolutely sped by. Where-ever it goes, Jupiter brings increase. Its influence has added greatly to the other fired up Aries transits (the long term transit of Uranus and the shorter transits of Mars, Mercury, and Venus in Aries).
For this past five months, Jupiter in Aries’ expansion program has accelerated the building of our experiential framework. The sign shift to Taurus will add the “fill” and better define what it is that we are really working with. Positively, Jupiter in Taurus brings more to work with and to aspire toward. It puts an added emphasis on the amassing of (more and better) resources and on the productive application of those resources. Progressively we will gain a better knowledge of what is most viable and what can produce more substantially. While Jupiter tenants Taurus, we find a greater appreciation for stability and security. When Jupiter tenants Taurus, everything of value increases in worth. Too, everything of value can cost more, including money itself. We place a much higher premium on the things we want, and the things we already own. Because this is so, we can find a greater readiness to stay put, to make commitments, to drop anchor. Too, we find ourselves more willing to do whatever it takes in order to have and to hold.
Jupiter in Taurus can create greater consistency and it can steady the growth curve too, but know that the rest of the stellar deck, especially Uranus in Aries, a wild-card influence, will keep us firing on all cylinders for some time to come.
The downside of Jupiter in Taurus is getting stuck in a rut, or getting stuck with too much. We can get bogged down materially, emotionally, and physically too. It will come as no surprise to see national deficits continue on a steady growth curve. Jupiter will remain in facilitating aspect to Pluto in Capricorn for this next year. For governing bodies, corporations, and individuals alike, it is an aspect that suggests an increase of sobering realism, along with a greater need to further secure and maintain what is most important, necessary, or valuable. The latest announcement from bank of Canada is that it will hold its rate steady for now. This is based on the concerns of the precariousness of the US dollar and world economies.
Jupiter in aspect to Pluto in Capricorn increases the need to stay accountable and responsible, and to better define boundaries. It can prompt larger scale implementation of tougher sanctions and necessary measures. We can already see this happening with UN and the situation in the Middle East and elsewhere. More corporate, government, and bank belt tightening is to be expected. The downside of Jupiter in aspect to Pluto is that those in authority will attempt to throw their weight around more. Tyrants, the corrupt, those with the fight and might can gain added momentum, while those who are already under pressure can be burdened by extra weight.
Positively, Jupiter in facilitating aspect to Pluto suggests we can handle a lot more than usual. The aspect can buy us more time so that we can create greater effectiveness. In order to use Jupiter to your maximum benefit, figure out what is most lucrative or generating for you, what will offer the most room for growth, and direct your maximum attention toward nurturing it along.

ARIES (March 21- April 19)
Jupiter leaves your sign as of June 4, but you’ll continue to receive ample benefits as the big guy settles into a Taurus groove. Through June of next year, Jupiter will help you to grow your assets and resources, and your resourcefulness too. You’ll discover you have a lot more going for you now. Jupiter forms a facilitating aspect (trine) to Pluto in Capricorn for most of its stay through Taurus. For the next year, you’ll find yourself gaining favour from those in positions of authority and influence. You’ll find you have more sway and swagger now. Bosses, parents, officials, check signers can ask more of you too, but if so, it’s because they place faith in your ability to perform. If you have hankering to try self employment, it can be a profitable year to launch your own show. Of course, the added responsibility will be significant, but Jupiter/Pluto suggests one of your greatest resources is the ability to work under pressure and to handle more than you usually do. You should find you gain substantial results for your efforts in most areas.
The June 1st eclipse can put the spotlight on communications, learning, networking, sales and marketing. You can make significant links and inroads with people, both business and personal. Whether to do with financial matters or more personal concerns, this new moon eclipse can accelerate a karmic circumstance with friends or siblings. Remember, the eclipse will only be significant if it makes a direct contact to your chart. Otherwise it will operate simply as a regular new moon cycle. Relationship platforms set in place now can serve you well not only in the short haul, but for an extended time to come. The lunar eclipse on June 15 can bring news, an announcement, a visitor, or an opportunity to travel, promote, perform, or publish. Legal matters can reach a turning point peak. This eclipse can set wheels in motion and/or set you free in some unexpected way.
TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)
Start of the month finds you taking care of business just fine. At least it can appear that way. The solar eclipse of June 1 is in facilitating aspect to Saturn in Libra, which suggests you are able to accomplish what you need to. Work and health seems to be coming along well too. Still, Mercury and Neptune suggest you may not see all that you should. Don’t assume others feel and think like you do. You may be in for a surprise. This solar eclipse suggests that if you put the work into it, you’ll gain substantial benefit. Likely, you’ll gain from more than one angle and in short order too. Give it a big upfront push, and you’ll soon see it isn’t as much work as you anticipated. Once you see the start of visible results, it will encourage you to keep going and you’ll find yourself off to the races. One thing builds on another; it’s stepping-stone time.
You have done a lot of living and growing in the past twelve years. You’ll use it as a positive springboard now. Jupiter’s advance into Taurus (June 4) will help you to take a huge step forward. You are wiser, more experienced, and more confident in yourself. And it shows. Self honouring/self respect is your best starting point. Stay ambitious and take yourself seriously. Your ability to achieve something of worth and substance is more possible than ever. This is so at the material, emotional, and soul level.
The opportune lunar eclipse on June 15 can bring something out into the open, perhaps surprisingly so. You could find circumstances head in an unexpected direction. A relationship that is not built on honesty could suddenly take an exit. (Perhaps you were duping yourself on this one.) Financial matters can escalate; you could face hidden costs or unexpected added expenses. Whether business or personal, the departure of another may provide you with added advantage. By default, you may find the opportunity to step into a more significant position or role. The eclipse can put you on a hunt – for more pay, words to convey, or places to be. Too, you could find yourself on a mission to track someone down. Venus and Saturn suggest whatever opens up or catapults you forward has the mark of benefit and improvement. Be willing to give up to get. What you’ll gain can be the better than you have had yet.
