July 2016

Weekly forecast published by the Georgia Straight Newspaper every Thursday: http://www.straight.com/life/743266/your-horoscope-july-28-august-3-2016

Overview: July 2016

If you have a sense of a shift in the works, that you about to make better headway, or that its time to get a move on with decisions or a new strategy, then you are feeling the effects of Mars which has just ended retrograde (as of June 29).

Canada Day and USA Independence Day book end the first weekend of July. By all means, wave a flag, find a comfort zone, and get your relaxation fill! While the world isn’t always a happy or an easy place to call home, Cancer month is a good time to remember that no matter the colour of your skin, your sexual orientation, your spiritual philosophy, or what border gives you a name, that humanity is but one family.  It is our birthright to be included, to be respected, and to share in the wealth of the planet. It’s also a reminder that a life worth living requires a contribution to the wellbeing of the whole in whatever way it is possible for each and everyone, be it small or substantial. Our caretaking must also include respect for Mother Earth too.

The new moon in Cancer on July 4 has plenty going for it, starting the day with an opposition to Pluto, the grand motivator, and ending on a corner turn with Uranus. The latter aspect is quite appropriate for fireworks (in the sky or where-ever!).  Cancer is the archetype of nurturing and nourishment. The new moon launches a new emotional orientation and foundation laying time. From the ground up, it puts the focus on regaining control and security, on building more cushion and more substantial safety margins. The new moon draws from Neptune (trine), Jupiter (sextile), Venus (conjunction) and Mars (trine). As such it’s a fortuitous time for feeling your way along, for replenishing, and rebuilding. New starts and initiatives directed to home, family, real estate, security, and safeguards are favoured.  This new moon also begins a new cycle that involves looking back. You/we can find a necessity or an opportunity to revisit, reconcile with, or reclaim something from the past. Can the Brexit decision be reversed? Who knows, but this event has underscored the fact that despite what consequences we may face at any given point in time, that the past is always the springboard for the present. There’s great wisdom in recognizing this simple fact. The Cancer archetype also correlates to all things domestic and national. It’s an auspicious, time-is-ripe new moon for anyone born on this day, which includes the USA. It will also hold significant potential for those with planets in the middle range of the cardinal signs (Cancer, Libra, Capricorn, and Aries).

After eleven weeks in retrograde, Mars is now on the move-along. (The retrograde cycle started on April 17 and ended on June 29.) Perhaps the recent retrograde cycle has helped you to figure out what’s what, and what’s not. Don’t worry if you aren’t quite up to full speed or if don’t have it sorted out just yet. While Mars will now make good headway, especially July 6 (with Venus), July 10 (with Mercury), and July 16 (with the Sun), it still has more momentum to build, more layers to peel back, more tracks to lay, more revisions to make, more options to consider, and more strategizing to do. Mars will continue to work toward the completion and/or cementing of this current building phase through August.

Mercury, currently the ruler of one half of the karmic axis, is also quite active this month. On July 6, Mercury makes a superior conjunction with the Sun in Cancer. This is a shine-the-light, connect-the-dots, news generating, mobilizing transit. If you have some place to go, or some thing to say, to do, to buy or to sell, July 6 is a good day for it, especially so as Venus and Mars, the relationship duo, are also well aligned.

July 16 through July 20 dishes up another good run of planetary alignments. The Sun is in good shape with Mars, while Mercury and Venus, now in Leo, are in good shape with Saturn in Sagittarius. These few days can bring it together for you very well. They are great for manifesting and creative endeavour, for confidence-building an goal-reaching, for getting your pleasure fill or just rewards.

The full moon in Capricorn on July 19 is flanked by Mercury’s trine to Saturn on July 18 and Venus’ trine Saturn on July 20. What is solidified around this time holds promise for substantial and lasting value. If the work/the staging has been done right, this full moon can set a secure foundation and/or bring reward for past efforts. July 19 to 20 favours dealings with those in authority or with experience and expertise. These days are opportune for signing legal documents, for official announcements, rulings, or undertakings.

Several triggering planetary transits happen at the end of the month. On July 27, Mercury (in Leo as of August 13) will cross the degree of August’s lunar eclipse; Uranus stations retrograde on July 29, and on July 30, Mercury will trek into Virgo (forming an alignment with fixed star Regulus). Note that Mercury will be on an extended stay of Virgo due to its next retrograde cycle which happens from August 30 to September 21.

Recap: Aim for the move along but rather than hold onto fear, hold on to hope. Let the spirit move you. What you launch or what launches for you in the first portion of the month can produce something of significance by the full moon. If it’s your time to ease up, then do so. If it’s your time to heal, to repair, or to prepare, then do so. If you don’t know how to play it next, keep on research mode, try something new on for size. A new level of security or comfort can be found when you allow yourself to explore and to open up to the moment. July 11, Venus advances into Leo, Mercury does the same on July 13 and the Sun treks into Leo on July 22. All three increase creative potential.

As you meet with this month and the next couple months, remember that time is advancing on the karmic clock. What is destined for you, will naturally unfold. Don’t be lazy though, you have important work to do. Keep growing!
