Ukraine – we stand with you, we pray for you….
Venus has recently reappeared as a morning star. In ancient times, battles would be waged on this morning apparition as it was thought to portend a successful outcome. Note what’s happening re Putin and Ukraine. Mars, the planet that is traditionally associated with aggression and war, meets with Pluto in Capricorn on March 3 (conjunction). The long line of tanks rolling into Kyiv provides an apt visual description of this transit. Mars/Pluto, a big push power-play aspect, keeps determination going strong. (With Pluto in the mix, there’s a compulsive and obsessed edge to the action too.) We can’t expect Putin to back down under this influence – nor the people of Ukraine who now show formidable strength and resistance in the face of seemingly impossible odds. Venus also meets with Pluto on March 3. Under the current stellar backdrop, this transit can be fortune changing and destiny making. When stripped down to the bare bones, Venus/Pluto puts survival on the line. Venus/Pluto suggests there is a high price to pay/a toll to be extracted, but there is also (and more importantly) something of significant value to be preserved at all costs.
We are undoubtedly living through iconic times.
For the astrologically versed: WW2 started with Uranus in Taurus, the transiting nodes in Taurus/Scorpio, and Mars in Capricorn. That’s where they are now (….I am not making a prediction, just an observation). One by one, Mars, Venus, and Vesta form conjunctions with Pluto in Capricorn. In so doing each cross the planetary south node of Saturn at 27:21 Capricorn (history repeats, history is rewritten). Transiting Pluto continues in tight conjunction with Saturn’s planetary south node through the end of May.
The new moon in Pisces on March 2 sets potentials into play in some bigger picture, or didn’t see it coming way. Mercury conjunct Saturn in Aquarius can trigger, jolt, or catapult the reality. This duo can be a quick on the draw or quick on the uptake influence. Let’s hope it moves things (politics especially) in a positive direction.
As stated above, on March 3, Mars and Venus join forces with Pluto. Both are on a simultaneous wrap-up and refuel track. Mars/Pluto ends and begins a new two-year activation cycle. The (fertile ground) Venus/Pluto cycle (relationships; finances, net worth/self worth, survival) extends to the end of the year.
Mercury moves especially fast in March, touring Pisces from March 9 to 26. It can be easy to get lost in the moment or the emotions. Time can evaporate, uncertainty continues, situations are fluid. While covid restrictions lift, don’t let up on good health routines.
March 13 (sun/Neptune trine) to 26 (Mercury enters Aries) marks spring-break time for some. March 18 delivers a full moon in Virgo, followed by a run of transits. Here’s the rundown: March 19, Venus/Uranus (square) are on a corner turn regarding the evaluation process and the reality. March 20, the Spring Equinox coincides with Mercury/Jupiter (conjunction) putting things on the move and the increase. Mercury/Jupiter set bigger wheels in motion. It is good for travel, for getting the message out to a wider audience, and for making allowances. (Mercury/Jupiter can also increase the count on losses and put more people, refugees, and/or homeless on the move.) March 22, Mars/Uranus (square) put the action/the objective on a shift track. March 23, Mercury/Neptune (conjunction) can reveal or expose more. Ease up, go with the flow, dream a little more, allow yourself to feel what you feel.
Mercury in Aries, starting March 26 can spark fresh incentive and more energy. March 28, Venus, and the moon conjunct both Saturn and Venus. Sign a contract, make it official, or put ambition into action. It’s a day of solid results and good accomplishment. March ends and April begins on a new moon in Aries (March 31/April 1, depending on your time zone) aligned with Chiron in Aries, the healing crisis archetype. The battle continues, the brave and wounded warrior lives another day, the maverick is called upon to lead the way.

Look to the full moon and the days that follow (through March 22/23) to fill in missing blanks or to thrust you onto an unexpected track. March 28 can mark a finish line or see it grind to a halt. If you run out of steam or options, look to the new moon on March 31 to rev it/rev you up again.
