July 2022

Super Full Moon July 13:
July 13 delivers a super full moon in Capricorn, illuminating the changing reality, priorities, and needs. Whether the prompt is push come to shove or an opportune moment, a sense of time has come or time is ripe accompanies this full moon. Also, on the dial up are matters to do with reputation, recognition, career aspirations, or personal ambitions, control, boundaries, accountability, legitimacy, endings & new chapters. (Capricorn also rules government and banks; it’s the day the feds plan to make announcements regarding inflation numbers and banks aim to raise interest rates.) Are you feeling uncertain, confused, at a loss, or feeling lost, more emotional or vulnerable than usual? Neptune in Pisces continues. Just past the full moon, Venus/Neptune can reveal, expose, or fill in a missing blank. Please protect your valuables, health included. Extra caution, protection, and safety measures are wise. Please stay well hydrated!

Month Overview:
July opens with Mars in Aries turning a corner with Pluto and heading onto a fresh track. Delayed or waylaid no longer, you can feel this Mars activation as moving past something major (a wall, hold-up, pressure point, or personal struggle), or as a surge of motivation, determination, and just cause. Right here and right now is what is most important. It is also the best place to be. As the saying goes, the present is the gift. Make full use of it. If you have been cut-loose against your will or choice, see it as an opportunity in disguise. It is a chance to rebuild and to do it better this time. There is always another way, always another course to chart.

On a bigger picture scale, every two years Mars and Pluto set a new agenda regarding the shaping of reality. As of July 1/2, the duo surpass a critical checkpoint and move onto a next activation and implementation phase. The end of last year marked a covert seeding phase. Mars/Pluto hit their official launch at the start of March. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is but one demonstration of the Mars/Pluto timetable. The Uvalde school massacre and overturn of abortion laws in the USA mark more checkpoints in time. The Mars/Pluto agenda forces a confrontation with the priorities and realities that must be addressed, that can no longer be downplayed, avoided, or ignored. Humanity’s survival (at all levels, ethics, morality, and mortality as top priorities) and climate change are two items that sit at the top of the roster. The current foundation laying phase continues to September. September through March of next year marks another critical exposing and choice making time.

Canada’s birthday (July 1) and the USA’s birthday (July 4) bookend the first weekend of the month. It’s a good one for making the most of pleasure-seeking in whatever way holds the greatest appeal for you.

Mercury into Cancer, Mars into Taurus:
Mercury enters Cancer and Mars enters Taurus late in the day on July 4 (or July 5, depending on your time zone.) To July 19, Mercury in Cancer puts added focus on self care, comfort zones, family, home, and real estate matters. The transit can put you back in touch, and/or stir emotions, memories, or sentimentality.

Mars out of Aries and into Taurus can slow the pace somewhat. Both Mercury in Cancer and Mars in Taurus are good for going by feel. Both transits aim to provide a better sense of what or who is most worthy of time, investment, and attention.

Mars will continue in Taurus to August 19. Put this transit to good use as best you can. It is a preparatory, ground laying transit. Once Mars moves onto its next page agenda in the sign of Gemini, it will be in active development for 8 months!

Typically, Mars transits a sign over 5 to 6 weeks, but due to a retrograde cycle (end of October through the middle of January 2023), Mars in Gemini, a mobilizing, domino effect, and hot topics transit, will keep the action going strong to mid March 2023. Here’s a short list of matters falling under Mars in Gemini activation: conversations, negotiations, trends, comings, and goings, buying, selling, trading, studies/education, paperwork, licensing, rentals, elections, etc. (I’ll speak more about this transit in future columns.)

Super Full moon in Capricorn:
Last month’s super full moon (June 14) did quite a number on the markets. (The full moon in Sagittarius squared Neptune, the planet of loss, confusion, and disillusionment.) July 13 delivers a super full moon in Capricorn, (a crystallization archetype). Something of significance can be in the works. Watch for significant headlines from government, the banking world, rule makers, and those in positions of authority or control. (Recession, belt tightening, the rule of law, boundaries, borders, and accountability are Capricorn themes.)

A circumstance can come to an end or to fruition. The super full moon turns up the light on the reality, priority, goal post, finish line, or timetable. On the happy end, this full moon could mark a milestone, an achievement of note, or it cold bring recognition (perhaps long overdue). Perhaps there is a special anniversary, wedding or event to attend. If the full moon brings to you to a stop or an ending, it won’t be for long. Preceding the full moon, Venus in Gemini trines Saturn. Watch for a fresh idea, conversation, new or next option to get the ball rolling. After the fact, Venus squares Neptune, so take it one step at a time and don’t jump to conclusions or expect that the conversation, agreement, or item is completed. Watch for things to unfold (a natural process) and for more to be exposed or revealed in stages.

Mercury/Sun in Cancer, Superior conjunction:
July 16, Mercury forms a superior conjunction with the sun. Whether subtle or obvious, this transit brings a sense of moving onto a next page. It is ideally timed for the start (or end) of a vacation and/or a shift of personal priorities.

Mercury in Leo; Chiron in Aries stations retrograde:
July 19 produces another kick start, over the hump, or moving past the past threshold. Mercury exits Cancer for Leo and Chiron in Aries begins a five-month retrograde cycle. Both transits help you to get back in touch with yourself, with what is most compelling, or most rewarding. Do yourself a good turn. What lights you up, brings you joy, makes you feel more confident, makes you feel good about yourself? Stick with that. Mercury in Leo is a good transit for turning on your light, for loving it up and for connecting with those you love.

End of the month transits:
Juno in Pisces stations retrograde; Jupiter in Aries stations retrograde, Mars/Uranus conjunction:
Juno, the contract asteroid, stations retrograde on July 24. Use this transit to call it quits or to rewrite a contract (personal or actual). It can put something karmic into play. Jupiter in Aries turns retrograde on July 28. It will continue retrograde to November 23, but it will backtrack out of Aries and into Pisces on October 27.
Jupiter retrograde in Aries requires more look before leap, more scouting around for better answers – or in other words, more check back with your intuition before diving into full steam ahead. Just a few hours before Jupiter stations retrograde, Mercury/Uranus (square aspect) could trigger a sudden flash or something unexpected that requires immediate attention. July ends with a Mercury/Saturn opposition (July 30), a sun/Jupiter trine (July 31) and a building Mars/Uranus conjunction which reaches peak on August 1.
The month of July finishes as it started – on an intensity dial-up. An awakening or revitalizing transit, Mars/Uranus can kick up something fresh or next, unexpectedly, or abruptly so (an ending, beginning, or combo). The end of the month could fast track something lucrative, profitable, or expensive. Matters to do with fertility and mortality are also a feature of this Mars/Uranus transit.
