Chiron in Aries ends a five-month retrograde tour on December 19. On December 23 (11:16 pm PST) Saturn squares Uranus for third and last meeting. Saturn/Uranus, a “travelling with the brakes on” transit has been a feature transit for most of this past year. Both transits (Chiron and Saturn/Uranus) set the stage for a better move-along where it is both required and desired. New goals and initiatives are a step in the right direction. As time moves forward and perspective grows, you’ll see the dividing lines widen between yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Venus in Capricorn travels retrograde from December 19 to January 29. It is an important reassess and re-prioritize transit. How are you spending your time, your money, and your heart? Are you getting good value out of your investments? Venus retrograde puts added emphasis on career and personal life ambitions (included on the list: respect, boundaries, reputation.) What could you add or subtract that would make you feel more secure (emotionally, materially)? This Venus transit will give you a better feel for the building reality. You are stronger and more resilient than you realize. Whether you are keen for change or are in resistance mode, a natural (and inevitable) progression is already on the clock. Venus and Pluto set to task on the necessary and the timely and you are requested (nay, required) to show up for it. Venus meets with Pluto three times: December 11 (direct), Christmas Day (retrograde) and March 3. That’s the timetable. Expect to be working it out until then. The beginning of March can be full throttle time. Venus retrograde gifts you with an extended period to get a better handle on it. Jupiter leaves Aquarius for Pisces on December 28. I’ll talk more about Jupiter in my next column, but for now, Jupiter in Pisces is a lovely transit for going with the flow and for dreaming it bigger. Find quiet time to allow inspiration, creativity, romance, or the spiritual side of life to gift you.

Note that an eclipse holds potency over an extended time. If not now, know the stage is set for the coming months. Of course, for this eclipse to deliver, your personal chart would have to be in alignment. On the other hand, the new trajectory could create a gap or chasm that is too big to cover up or deny, in which case, it may be time to go your separate ways. One way or another, the solar eclipse in Sagittarius sets you on the road to your future.

The eclipse also puts added attention on survival issues and financial matters, (income, overhead, expenses, debt, shared). It could be a challenge, especially at this time of year, but you are wise to keep tabs on the overages. Try not to spend or to indulge beyond reasonable limits. To the plus, better financial opportunities can be on the horizon.

Mars tenants Scorpio to mid month, enters Sagittarius on December 13. This transit also keeps relationship matters, finances, and trust issues in the forefront. Mars brings a sense of fully submerged with no real let up. The best you can do, is to keep going, to work with what you have standing right in front of you and to recognize that it is an evolving process.

To the plus, Venus will spend the next several months in Capricorn. This transit sets a solidifying backdrop that will contribute to the shaping of your future in a real and substantial way. Venus retrograde, December 19 to January 29 gives you an extended time to feel your way along, to strengthen your position, true your aim, to reassess and re-prioritize where it will do you the greatest good. Venus can hold you steady while you undergo a major change. Venus meets with Pluto on December 11 and on Christmas day. These dates can be significant in terms of setting wheels in motion (inwardly or in actuality). Christmas day can go down in your history book as a milestone first or last. How long will it take to get to the next launchpad? Expect to find the time-is-right moment, to be on the move in some major way by then.

Neptune in Pisces ends retrograde on December 1. Jupiter enters Pisces on December 28. Both transits can help you to open to fresh possibilities, to tap more lucrative potentials, to find what’s been missing (i.e., hope, inspiration, creative flow, a deeper connection with the spiritual side of life).

Mercury transits Sagittarius to December 13. Mars begins its tour of Sagittarius on the same day. Expect to go more places, do/buy more things, and perhaps to pay more too. More people are out and about, more come and go at all levels. While there’s a percentage of sameness to expect at this time of year, there’s plenty of change – and plenty that’s forever changed. Whether you are in the thick of it or have not yet met up with it yet, the solar eclipse keeps you on a date with destiny. Follow your heart, your truth; let time and experience guide you. Teachers and teachings come in packages big and small. Move courage to the forefront, aim to stay a step ahead as best you can. The growth potential is significant. The future is but a threshold for you to cross. What’s meant to be will either take an exit or make a greater show. You will feel the fullest effect of the solar eclipse if you are born on or around June 2, or the eclipse makes a direct contact to your natal chart.

Venus in Capricorn travels retrograde from December 19 to January 29. It is an important re-evaluation, reassessment transit for each and every one. This transit puts added emphasis on money matters, personal priorities, and important relationships (significant other, parents, parental responsibilities, financially based, business). It also puts added attention on the ageing process and brings a sense of being on the punch clock regarding endings, completion, or new ventures. For example, you may be ready to downsize, retire, to make a relationship status or professional status official. Attention directed toward getting your finances or personal life under better control is wisdom in the works. Venus retrograde is also well used to revise or renegotiate financial terms, write, or revise your will, to establish better personal and relationship boundaries.

Saturn turns a corner with Uranus (by square aspect) on December 23. It is the third and final time they will meet. This “traveling with the brakes on” transit has been a feature influence for most of this past year. Whether subtle or obvious, you can feel this transit as finally moving past a block or hold up, or that you are finally able to make progress/a breakthrough for yourself.

Venus joins forces with Pluto on December 11 and 25. Both dates mark a timeline of significance. Christmas day can mark a milestone, an ending or beginning of significance. Venus/Pluto underscore the fact that the reality baseline has forever changed, that it is still in the throws of a major overhaul. In general, the Venus/Pluto transit is good for revisions and finishing touches, for getting back in touch, for taking time out for the things and people who matter the most. Emotions run deep. Allow yourself more time to sit with yourself, to feel your way along, to listen to the soundtrack of your heart and soul.

Jupiter leaves Aquarius for Pisces on December 28. This transit can open a portal on opportunity. There’s plenty of potential to draw from. Of course, is it up to you to open to it. How you ask? Aspire higher. Don’t put a low ceiling on your thinking, your belief, your hope, or your envisioning. Keep searching for fresh inspiration, let tomorrow unfold, and follow its good lead.

Look to the solar eclipse in Sagittarius on December 4 to set bigger wheels in motion. Mercury in Sagittarius (to December 13) and Mars into Sagittarius (starting December 13) also set the action onto a fuller swing. Feeling overwhelmed by too much work, too much on your plate, or by forces beyond your control? Remember, a dose of extra patience mixed into one small step at a time can get you all the way there. It’s hard to keep the faith when you are in the thick of it, but that’s when you need to the most.

If on the other hand, you feel completely left out or out in left field, it is a message to heed. Square peg never fits in round hole. Don’t shave yourself down. Go looking in a new direction.

Jupiter leaves Aquarius for Pisces on December 28. Jupiter in Pisces can benefit you in many ways. Jupiter in Aquarius may have been stressful. Hopefully you’ll feel Jupiter in Pisces as an ease up on the stress and uncertainty that may have plagued you over this past year. Jupiter in Pisces helps you to go with the flow better, to open to potentials and opportunities you might not have clued into previously.

Among the many ways, the eclipse can deliver, it could bring good news. Perhaps there’s an opportunity to travel, or to welcome someone into your home or your heart. Volunteering or the spiritual side of life can call out to you. Too, the eclipse could give you more insight into what is around the corner. Of course, how the eclipse shows up in your life is a matter of how it aligns with your birth chart. If nothing of significance happens, then you’ll witness it via the top news stories (i.e.. weather extremes, the new variant in full swing) and the added activity generated by the holidays.

Chiron in Aries ends retrograde on December 19. On this same day, Venus in Capricorn begins retrograde. While there’s still one more week of shopping, etc. to do before Christmas, we’ll all feel that sense of being ready for a change of pace. Venus retrograde continues to January 29. The transit makes you aware of the changing nature of your priorities, it takes you through an important reassessment or renovation cycle. Are you getting the respect, acknowledgement, or results, or answers you feel is due? Are you getting enough reward out of your job or paycheque, your exercise or health regime, or commitments? Saturn/Uranus and Venus/Pluto are both signaling along the same lines. Reality has changed and is changing in an undeniable and irreversible way. The total solar eclipse in Sagittarius on December 3 (or 4, depending on where you live), is a significant catalyst in this regard. It could springboard you in some accelerated fashion. It can assist you to create or achieve something of significant value and worth (finances, material gain, professional, relationships). Venus typically transits a sign for approximately three weeks. Jupiter advances into Pisces on December 28. The transit can enhance romance, inspiration, creativity, and/or increase your fan base. An ease up on it influence, it could alleviate some of the stress associated with work or working it out. To the plus, Jupiter in Pisces can increase your ability to let go and go with the flow.

Typically, the transit is 3 weeks through a sign, but this time, Venus will tenant Capricorn through the beginning of March. The reason for the extended visit is due to a retrograde cycle which happens from December 19 to January 29. Venus retrograde is an important transit on its own. This time around Venus is also on an important developmental track with Pluto, the great transformer, the planet that correlates to the soul’s deepest desire for evolution. Jupiter enters Pisces on December 28. It’s a good transit for easy going or for easing into it. Give into inspiration or the mood of the moment. This transit finds you more receptive and open minded, more sensitive, expressive, and intuitive.

Jupiter continues in Aquarius to December 28. This transit keeps you energized and going strong. Each day is an opportunity. It could produce something out of the blue, especially December 7, 8, when Mars squares Jupiter and Mercury squares Neptune. Too, these dates can put you in the know, or set you free. They are good for travel or for getting your message across to a wider audience. At the very least, these dates are likely to put you and the holidays into full swing.

Venus is on an extended tour of Capricorn. For your sign, Venus works toward bringing something long in the works to completion or an ending. Simultaneously, it is also seeding and setting a foundation for the future. From December 19 to January 29, Venus travels retrograde. What unfolds or shapes up for you now will be more fully built and on the go by the spring.
