December AstroLink:
Monthly Overview:
If the end of November was an uncertain or tricky one for you, you’ll be happy to know that December’s stars put us on a faster and better move along. December opens with Mercury trine Uranus, a positive, stimulating, and instigating influence. It is helpful for coming up with fresh ideas, avenues, and conversations. Talks can be productive; personal plans as well as general trade and commerce should move along well too.
Venus enters Scorpio on Dec 4 which can assist with financial or relationship matters. If your business caters to the season, be sure to take full advantage of your money making opportunity. To the plus, Venus can tighten relationship bonds. The transit also helps to get a better handle on the bottom lines, and can point us in the direction of more effective decisions and actions. To the minus, when Venus in Scorpio hits a stumbling block, it’s likely to do with trust/mistrust, sex, money, betrayal, corruption, addictions, secrets, or what’s been buried or hidden. Having given you both sides of the coin, know that Venus is in good shape through the first ten days of the month, so use this Venus transit to the plus and make the most of what you have to work with.
Dec 6 through 10 marks a peak week. On Dec 6, Mars squares Pluto; on the 10th Mars opposes Uranus. Both transits are helpful for knocking it down or back, for surpassing a hurdle, deadline, or finish-line. They can also set a new goal or next agenda into play. The sun’s trine to Uranus on Dec 8 and Venus in trine to Neptune on Dec 10 can make for a smooth, opportune and/or lucrative go. These are great dates to socialize and to get your pleasure fill.
Mercury moves into Capricorn on Dec 9. Along with Venus, this is a good transit for getting it under better control. Mercury in Capricorn calls for you to stay ambitious, goal oriented, budget conscious, reasonable, realistic, and practical. It’s about doing it right and about getting it right. Mercury in Capricorn puts added attention on responsibilities, priorities, limits, boundaries, accountability, and rights. Is the past or is time catching up with you? Is time or the past a good springboard? When Mercury is in Capricorn, we earn, deserve, and reap. What’s appropriate, what’s necessary? While Mercury tours Capricorn, it’s necessary to figure out, reset or redefine the boundaries; to work within the limitations, to prioritize what’s most important, to hold yourself accountable for doing your part, to taking responsibility where and how you should. It’s also a transit that asks for accountability from those who govern or set rules. Your relationship with a parent, boss, or authoritative body can claim more attention. Over the next few weeks, Mercury will be staging something of major importance for you to address, so pay good attention to how things are shaping up regarding all the above. Mercury enters Aquarius on Jan 1 but by Jan 5, it will go retrograde. It will revisit Capricorn from Jan 8 for the duration of the retrograde (to Jan 25). Knowing this information, you are wise to be selective regarding spending your time, dollars and heart. Reduce from the unnecessary pile, but don’t scrimp on due diligence.
Coinciding with what is sure to be a blockbuster retail and travel weekend, Dec 19 and 20, Mercury conjoins Pluto and squares Uranus. Have patience on the road and in the malls. The Winter Solstice on Dec 21 brings us nearer to the finish line.
Christmas day is stacked with planetary action. Drawing from Neptune in Pisces and Venus Scorpio, the full moon in Cancer is sure to make for an emotional go of it. Whether it’s in your face or flooding your memory banks, the past is sure to be upfront and center. Jupiter is in good shape with Venus (by sextile) on Dec 24 and with Mercury (by trine) on Dec 25. It’s a particularly poignant one this year. Whether spoken or felt, both suggest the true spirit of Christmas is alive and well. A conversation, a hug, a tender moment or a kindness undertaken can open the pathway to great healing. Also on this day, Uranus ends retrograde. Perhaps there’s an extra surprise or news to share. Along with Mercury/Jupiter, once it’s said/witnessed/out in the open, there can be a good breakthrough, and/or an opportune move-it-forward.
Sure, keep the tree lit up if you want to, but as of Dec 29 when Mercury squares Mars and Venus treks into Sagittarius Christmas is receding much faster from our attention; it’s on with the sales, back to work, and time to get on the go train for 2016.
Depending on where you live on the planet, The New Year will be ushered in by the transiting moon in Virgo (east coast, Europe, Australia, Asia), or Libra (west coast). Spend it quietly, with your lover, or out with the crowds, no matter how you choose to ring in the New Year, you are likely to say you played it just right.

ARIES (March 21- April 19)
Mercury/Uranus opens the month on a fairly good upswing, despite whatever added pressure you may face. The weeks of Dec 6 and Dec 20 are the two peaks of the month.
Forming dynamic aspects with Pluto and Mars, Mars in Libra keeps it going on and strong from December 6 through 10. The sun in good aspect with Mars and Uranus suggests you’ll make good progress with your to-do list and with people too.
The full moon in Cancer can make for heightened emotional sensitivity or nostalgia on Christmas Day. Despite the push/pull that a full moon can deliver, this one could go better than expected, thanks to Uranus ending retrograde and a favourable (trine) aspect between communications planets Mercury and Jupiter.
The moon in harmony with Mercury on New Year’s Eve makes for a good social or chill-out evening.
TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)
The week of Dec 6 is action packed. By Dec 10 you could surpass a quota, finish line, or hurdle. Mars/Uranus can also bring you to the end of a semester, project, or contract. Beyond a social opportunity or public event (concert, etc.), this transit can see you spot something out of the blue, or it may kick start something good. Folks can pop up and/or surprise you.
The past and the future occupy hearts, minds and conversation on Christmas Day. The full moon in Cancer makes for an emotionally charged day; there could be waterworks. Mercury’s trine with Jupiter suggests the day easily meets with expectations, that making due or a personal sacrifice feels like the right thing to do, and that all is on a fairly straightforward move along and that you’ll maintain well, no matter what the day delivers. Perhaps there’s an opportunity to top up or catch up on what’s missing, or to express something that you have wanted to say.
Spend it out with the crowds, with your lover, or on your own; no matter how you play it New Year’s Eve, you’ll feel the evening hits it just right.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
Even though the week before a new moon is usually a quieter time, you are likely to find its go, go, go/one thing after another through Dec 10. Dec 1 and 8 are good for communications, planning, socializing, or scouting missions. Dec 14, 15, 22, and 24 keep it rolling well.
It’s not how much you spend, it’s the quality time you share that matters most. Days gone past are sure to occupy mind, heart, and conversation as the full moon in Cancer rises on Christmas Day. Some things and people stay the same, some change. The end of Uranus retrograde and a favourable Mercury/Jupiter (trine) aspect suggests you are working it out for yourself and with them just fine.
Keep it simple, don’t make extra work for yourself; entertaining or simply relaxing, at home is the best place to be on New Year’s Eve.
CANCER (June 22-July 22)
It seems there’s a lot in the air and not too much that’s pinned down right now. The best you can do is to keep going as you can, as best you can. Mercury and the sun are in good shape with Uranus through this first week of December. Watch for a good brainstorm, a great find, for a good work or money making opportunity. Of course, considering the time of year, it is not surprising to see the money go out faster than it comes in.
Dec 6 to 10 can get it moving for you, or it can pile on the extras, perhaps unexpectedly so. On the other hand, if you are a student or at the end of a contract, this week can jettison you past a finish line.
Thanks to a full moon in Cancer, Christmas Day should keep you on a full battery recharge. You are likely to have an especially heightened sensitivity to the sights, the sounds, and the feelings. There may be some catering to do. This can be an especially romantic or nostalgic holiday for some. If you are on your own, Mercury trine Jupiter suggests you’ll make the most of it too.
New Year’s Eve can be work or it can be play, either way it should be fairly smooth running.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22)
Things to do, places to go, things to sort out, etc.; through Dec 10, Mars can keep you under pressure, up in the air, or racing toward a finish line or goal post. You may be especially busy, but the stars keep it rolling well, especially Dec 1 and 8. Aiming to get a jump start on the holiday extras over this first two weeks? The rest of the world is too. In fact while the stars are a little less dynamic Dec 13 through Dec 17, we aren’t likely to see much let up through Dec 25.
Less is best; quiet observance is great on Christmas Day but whether it’s eventful or an internal sojourn, you could get pulled into a little more than you’d prefer, thanks to a day that’s fully stacked with planetary aspects, most notably a full moon in Cancer and Uranus ending a five month retrograde cycle. It’s a good idea to pump up on the vitamins and tissues. Have and have not is an attention getter; Christmas Day may not give you enough time to relax, take a break, to visit or to spend time the way you’d prefer it best, but making due shouldn’t be overly problematic thanks to good buffering from Mercury/Jupiter and Venus/node aspects.
At work or with time to spend as you wish, the moon’s trine to Mercury keeps it running well on New Year’s Eve. It’s a good night for conversation, TV, or for hanging out with a friend or two.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
Mars in Libra continues to keep your social life and running around at a brisk pace through the start of January while Venus in Scorpio, Dec 4 to 29, shifts her attention to the home-front. Both are quite a natural fit for this time of year. Despite the added pressure or challenge, Venus in Scorpio can assist you to stay better focused on what’s most necessary and expedient. Along with Mercury into Capricorn, starting Dec 9, the transits should help you get a better grip on the priorities and plans. Mercury and Venus help you stay the course with budgets and practical choices. These transits also assist you to greater effectiveness in expressing yourself.
The full moon in Cancer can up the family tension or emotional strain on Christmas Day (so what else is new?), but communication duo Mercury/Jupiter is good for keeping it together and for clearing the air. Venus and Neptune in good shape too suggests open hearted sharing is good for the soul and that despite whatever shortfalls there may be, that despite all, a good comfort level can be found. The end of Uranus retrograde can pump fresh air into the day or the heart.
Depending on what time zone you are in, the moon will usher in the New Year in Virgo or Libra. Either way, it’s a smooth rolling one.
LIBRA (Sept 22-Oct 22)
Venus and Mars in Libra open the month with you on go-get-‘em mode. Mars continues to keep you well fuelled through January. Venus leaves your sign as of Dec 4, but she’ll keep your charisma and your sexy going strong while she moves through sensual Scorpio (to Dec 29). Venus in this perceptive sign also sharpens your money handling and people skills.
Mars in opposition to Uranus on Dec 10 could produce something exciting and/or special, i.e. a concert, a party, a social opportunity or shopping spree, news, a great find or discovery. It can be a great money-maker day (of course, you can spend, spend too). You can feel exhilarated to start, stop, or switch tracks. Someone could impress or surprise you; something unexpected or opportune can jump out at you too.
Duty calls Christmas Day but isn’t that par for the course? You may put yourself out in order to cater to others, but whether gratitude is verbalized or unspoken but felt, when you give of yourself it makes all the difference. The day may have a mix of the bittersweet, but you should feel self satisfied by the end of it.
New Year’s Eve is best spent low key or sharing it with one you love.
SCORPIO (Oct 23~Nov 22)
The month starts with Mercury/Uranus doing you good in the work, health, and money sectors. Venus into Scorpio, Dec 4 through 29, gets you out and about more. Dec 6 and 10, Mars is triggered. These dates will see you get further, faster. Dec 7 to 10, you’ll find creativity and synchronicity deliver well. Mercury into Capricorn, starting Dec 9, helps you to stay organized, to make good use of your dollars and time.
Dec 24 and 25 you should feel you have hit the mark very well. Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, the Cancer full moon and the end of Uranus retrograde keep the day in good motion.
Downplay it if you want to or make it into something – either way, Mercury and the transiting moon helps you to hit the spot just right on New Year’s Eve.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov 22 ~ Dec 21)
You should feel a good perk-me-up as December begins. Mercury keeps your special brand of genius well sparked to Dec 9. As of this date, Mercury treks into Capricorn. This transit inclines you to rein yourself in a little more, to stay practical and economical regarding time, effort, and spending. (Perhaps necessity dictates that you are.)
Dec 6 to 10 shifts the pace and your attention. By the new moon of Dec 11, you should feel a momentum switch. The weekend of Dec 19, 20 holds tension stars, so don’t take it on if you don’t have to, and avoid the mad rush at the malls if you can. Mind you, if you choose to or have to push it, you will get your objective met.
It’s up to you to make the most of it on Christmas Day. The Cancer full moon can turn you into an old softy. Hugs and heart rank best among the gifts you give and receive. The end of Uranus retrograde is good for a fresh refuel.
Dec 31 is a good work or hit the road day. Don’t make it a big deal this year; ring in the New Year in your traditional way.
CAPRICORN (Dec 22 ~ Jan 19)
Saturn and Neptune are taking you through a one year transition cycle. It can be seamless, it can be sweeping, or somewhere in the middle. It isn’t so much about what you’ve lost or what’s no longer realistic, an option, etc., but what you will gain along the way. Perhaps you can’t see it fully now. Do what you can as you can, and give life ample time to find its new water mark. Time heals, time reveals; it’s the only way it works. Emotions never work on a set timetable.
Mercury enters Capricorn on Dec 9. You are likely to feel it as a go-signal, especially Dec 10 as Mars hits it with Uranus (an opposition aspect). This date is a good one for a party or a special event, etc. A sudden flash or a spontaneous moment could set it up quite nicely.
Dec 19/20 is a good time to stop and switch tracks. Mercury conjunct Pluto and square Uranus may also produce added tension, frustration and such, but if so, know the days leading into Christmas should smooth it right out.
Although there is a full moon in Cancer on Christmas Day it is diffused by Neptune and Venus. It’s an emotional one for sure. The end of Uranus retrograde may make this holiday a first of many. Despite all, Mercury’s trine to Jupiter is also a harmony producing influence.
Mercury in Capricorn is also in good shape on Dec 31. Get out for the evening or enjoy it privately, satisfaction is easy to come by New Year’s Eve.
AQUARIUS (Jan 20 ~ Feb 18)
Dec 1 starts the month on a fun or upbeat note. Mars in Libra continues to keep you and your social life well on the go. Dec 4 through 29, Venus in Scorpio wants you to be smarter re who and what gets a piece of you (and your wallet). This Venus transit is about making the most of what you have to work with. As such it can be an empowering one. Venus can help you to make a good turnaround with work, finances, and relationship matters.
Through Dec 10, Mars keeps you driven, busy, and working your way toward an objective, deadline, or a breakthrough. A dilemma or issue can suddenly resolve itself.
Dec 19 and 20 are also notable push/pull, over the hump, or finish it off days.
Thanks to the full moon in Cancer and the end of Uranus retrograde, your Christmas is likely to be particularly memorable one this year. Perhaps there is a milestone surpassed, a significant lifestyle change, and/or a notable new beginning or healing.
Quiet, low key and simple does it best for New Year’s Eve.
PISCES (Feb 19 ~ March 20)
One way or another, the first ten days of Dec will keep you on the move-along. Venus in Scorpio, Dec 4 to 29, helps you to make the most of the here and the now. If your business caters to the season, you stand to do well financially. Now that the sun and Saturn have surpassed Neptune, you should feel you are gaining a better sense of where things are heading. Venus in Scorpio is also a good transit for travel and for making future plans.
Dec 13 through 17 should be smooth sailing. Dec 19, 20, Mercury forms tension aspects with Pluto and Uranus. If you can, streamline your activities and avoid the crowds where/when possible. Dec 21, 22 and 24 are good for whatever running around or finishing off you have to do.
Despite whatever tensions a full moon in Cancer can dish up, good aspects between Venus, Jupiter, Neptune and Mercury/Jupiter should make for a smooth sail for Christmas.
Get up to something or nothing; New Year’s Eve is what you make of it.
