I wish you an abundance of energy, inspiration, bravery, and self-honouring in the coming New Year…Brightest of blessings to all – Rose
Consider the event-generating new moon solar eclipse (in Capricorn) on Jan 4 as the true start of the New Year. Some will call the moment a time of ripening. Some will say the past due is finally crossing the finish line. Accompanied by the last of the Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions, you can expect the importance of here, now, and tomorrow to enlarge and accelerate – perhaps greatly so. This eclipse is a particularly strong influence on Canada’s chart, as are the eclipses that will occur later in the year, (June 1, 15, Canada’s birthday July 1, Nov 24, Dec 10.) In addition to the major shuffling re BC politic which is currently well underway, a federal election looks quite probable for spring/early summer 2011.
Eclipses are flint for the unexpected. Watch for a significant re-structuring of reality to occur in the immediacy of present, and/or to extend at an intensified pitch over the next three to six months. Note that eclipses are most effective if/when they directly influence your chart. Anyone celebrating a birthday on an eclipse is sure to face an outstanding year with more than the usual change going on.
The past couple of extremely eventful years have put us through the paces at a much faster gait. Expect the acceleration to not only continue, but to intensify. Through 2016, watch for a dramatic temperature rise, (figurative and literal), and expect more razors’ edge living too. The hinging moment can be critical and confronting, but know also that it could not be more opportune. It is time for each of us to raise the bar higher, for our selves and for each other. To deny or resist what is coming down the track will prove to be wasted energy – and an impossible (and irrational) stance at best. What are the options? You can take action as you see is warranted, or you can wait for destiny to swoop-in and set your new dial. Ideally, to synchronize with the building momentum is your best bet. Let intuition and instincts be your guide, but make sure to move aside fear-based responses, which can too easily prove to be the wrong lead.
World economics will continue as an uncertain landscape, but the general outlook for the year ahead looks somewhat brighter and suggests productive moving forward, at least in some areas. At the end of February, Jupiter’s square to Pluto can see a significant/productive corner turned, and at the same time, it infuses the new momentum with added fuel. Watch for the most viable or hot-to-trot race horse to single itself out and capture the front lead, this re the political scene, and extending to all departments of life. By March, Jupiter will surpass Saturn (by opposition). This aspect peak is the midway point for the twenty year (ten up/ten down) economic cycle and is usually a time when we see market corrections. For private life agendas, this critical turning-point aspect is one that will select and sharpen the viewfinder’s focus onto a more specific target – the emerging future. Still, with unpredictable Uranus progressively gaining on Pluto in Capricorn, (by square, an aspect that will intensify in increments from now to 2016) there are no guarantees that the old standards, formulas, and equations are applicable to today’s reconciling. Economic markets are subjected to many cross-currents. Extreme weather patterns can take their toll on us too.
While we are living through challenging, even precarious times, we have already circumvented much in terms of what could have been. (Wall Street & the Auto giants near collapse as a case in point.) The building razor’s edge Uranus square Pluto aspect (now to 2016) will continue to sharpen our attention. Uranus square Pluto years will deliver a radical departure from our past ways of building, creating, and relating. While it is indeed a confronting and formidable planetary aspect to reconcile with, it is my hope that it will make us much faster learners too.
June through the end of the year, Jupiter in trine to Pluto (holding through March of 2012) suggests the potential to stand on a steadier platform. Positively, Jupiter in Taurus trine Pluto in Capricorn can translate into a productive and substantial growth cycle. The aspect is one of benefit, resourcefulness, lucrative results, fertile conditions, and prosperity, but it can also suggest heavier burdens, more debt, and a larger sink hole for those who are already entrenched. Some will profit, some will dig themselves deeper. Both the high and low roads will be well travelled.
There are several planetary sign advances to note in the coming year. Jupiter, (changes signs yearly) will race through the fire sign of Aries, Jan 22 to June 4, to situate in earthy Taurus from June 2011 to June 2012. Uranus, a seven year transit, will advance into Aries Mar 11, 2011 (to 2019). Both of these activating agents provide exceptional fuel. If you feel direction-less or at a loss right now, know a new fire will soon be lit. Completing their triple “shake, rattle, and role” conjunction cycle a few hours after the year’s first solar eclipse, this planetary pairing is likely to thrust a sudden switch; they can deliver a warp-speed leap, right into the thick of next. (Jupiter and Uranus were major catalysts for us in 2010, especially so from spring until early fall when both were temporarily activated in the sign of Aries.) Jupiter the growth expansion planet, and Uranus, the revolutionizing planet, favour the breaking-of-the-mould and the braving of new initiatives, especially late Jan through mid March, and again late April through mid May.
As already mentioned, the Jan 4 eclipse is particularly noteworthy due to the fact that Jupiter and Uranus reach their final conjunction aspect before the pair speed on. Transiting Venus in Scorpio is also activated on this eclipse (she surpasses a square to Neptune and Chiron before forming a trine (facilitating) aspect to Jupiter and Uranus. Ceres (what we groom; how we respond to the process of transformation) advances into Aquarius on Jan 3. These additional supporting transits suggest a lot can happen, seemingly in the blink of an eye.
February 8, Chiron will advance into Pisces, to remain until 2019. A brief introduction occurred last year, marked by the Deep Water Horizon oil rig disaster which began on the first day that Chiron entered Pisces, April 20. (Chiron backed out of Pisces and into Aquarius on July 20. By August, the world’s attention shifted to the trapped Chilean miners.) Chiron’s influence is one that sets in motion the extraordinary experience. The spectrum runs the gamut, from the wounding, tragic, and bittersweet, to the uplifting and to extraordinary opportunity also.
Temporary exposure to Neptune in Pisces, its domicile, occurs April 4 to Aug 5. From August until Feb 3, 2012, Neptune will backtrack into Aquarius. Neptune takes 168 years to make it around the zodiac. Its transit through a sign is a once in a lifetime occurrence. Neptune in Pisces will remind us that at a core, we are all the same. We all have the same wants, needs, desires, dreams, and aspirations; to live a life of joy, love, and abundance; one that is free from pain, punishment, and suffering. Neptune in Pisces can be likened to a collective tuning fork; it brings mass attention, consciousness, and desire to a peak.
Noting that Neptune and Chiron have been in close communication with one another for the past couple of years, the more subtle nuances of their planetary advances may be somewhat difficult to define clearly, (can’t see the shoreline when you are swimming in the middle of the ocean), but suffice to say they speak of collective loss, illusion, and delusion, as well as inspirational and iconic moments. They speak of a pinnacle moment in the larger schematic, of the collective contributions that steer our evolutionary journey and also to the quest for our collective redemption.
On the personal note, Chiron & Neptune in Pisces animates our soul’s ultimate yearnings (for transcendance.) On the collective note it raises the consciousness of our humanity and places the call to collective service on behalf of the whole. While Neptune and Chiron tenant Pisces, we will come to recognize more fully that there is no real degree of separation in all of the created universe. The years when Chiron and Neptune tenant Pisces are ones where we will experience the consequences of that which has accumulated, not only over the recent excessive years, but over this past Age too. On the planetary scale, we will learn to show more reverence for the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and the fuel we consume.
This year we have 6 eclipses (4 solar, 2 lunar), more commonly we have 4 eclipses in total (2 solar, 2 lunar). Jan 4’s solar eclipse is the last of an eighteen-month cycle across the cardinal (activating) Cancer/Capricorn axis. The next eclipse on June 15, launches the new chapter across the mutable (integrating, migrating, blending) Gemini/Sagittarius axis. When this sign polarity is emphasized, we find ourselves on an accelerated growth and expansion curve. We examine the conceptual, philosophical, social, educational and cultural standards/realms, juxtaposed with what is intrinsic and natural. Opinions, ideologies, religion and spirituality draw more attention. Gaia speaks with more force. More people migrate, more information travels. In fact, more of everything occurs (fanaticism and racism too.) Relationships with siblings, friends, or neighbours can also feature more prominently during this eighteen month cycle.
The trio of late spring/summer eclipses are sure to produce another eventful few weeks: June 1 (solar), June 15 (lunar), and July 1 (solar). The fact that Canada’s birthday coincides with the July 1 solar eclipse marks the season as a critically shaping moment for our country. In addition to various contacts made by the year’s eclipses on the USA chart (Jan 4is the strongest), Chiron’s ongoing influence on the progressed sun of the USA chart suggests another major year for policy-making and economics (perhaps a mixed bag – large initiatives taken and needed, major gains and advances made in some areas, lost ground in other areas, and some things that remain unresolved. The US dollar is likely to continue to fall.) Obama’s political party may have been weakened by the recent mid term elections there, but what comes to mind is “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”. In the end, the political chaffing may prove productive.
Overall, Jupiter’s advance into fertile Taurus, June 4 to June of 2012, can be an encouraging placement for financial growth, added stability, profitability and productivity in many areas. A rise of interest rates is possible too as the year advances.
For those that like to plan ahead, there are three Mercury retrograde (Murphy’s Law) cycles to note: Mar 30 – April 23 (Aries); Aug 2 – 26 (Virgo/Leo) and Nov 23 – Dec 13 (Sagittarius).
In summary, courage is the best bridge to the future, and the future is your best bet. In fact it is the only place to pin our hope, faith, money, and ambitions. My best advice: see it, call it, act on it. Get with the evolving program and contribute to it as quickly as you can. Be the change…

Lucrative, enhancing and pleasing Jupiter in Taurus, (June 4 through June 2012) can place you onto a more solid plateau.
