May your courage reward you in 2017! Happy New Year! with love – Rose
A Brief Overview of 2017:
Several major planetary transits arc over 2017. For the past two years, we have worked under a Saturn/Neptune dynamic transit (last quarter square aspect). In stages and over an extended timeframe, reality has crumbled and it has also reveal itself. Uncertainty, loss, and fear, and false representations have made for a difficult passage, for the one, and for the masses too. This transit is receding now but it is replaced by Saturn and Chiron in Pisces holding court. Extending through 2017 and from May to October of 2018), Saturn/Chiron continues to weave our collective fates together as one. We can’t see how deep the ocean really is. We can’t see the full scope of the shaping reality, but know it is certainly in full play. When it comes to loss, we don’t know what we’ve had until its gone, don’t know what’s on brew until it is too late to stop. Exceptional potential is teaming with life too. For those who are meeting with an ultimate time has come moment, it is a time of reaping and harvesting. To be sure, there are more exceptional milestones, iconic passages, and destiny-making moments on the road ahead.
Accompanying the dynamic Saturn/Chiron’s transit is Saturn’s trine to Uranus. Saturn/Uranus is a facilitating, opportune, and acceleration transit that will also hold jurisdiction over the year ahead. To the plus, Saturn/Uranus is liberating and timely; it favours personal, career and lifestyle reinvention. It can spark new social trends or momentous advances in technology, science, and medicine. While Saturn/Chiron continues to take us through the uncharted and unknown, Saturn/Uranus acts as a cut-to-the-chase influence. You may not have a full grasp on where life it taking you, but your soul has most definitely built itself a plan. The target is the bigger picture stuff. One way or another you will meet up with what is destined for you. The agenda is already in motion for the collective too.
Jupiter, the big planet, is also throwing its weight around in 2017. It is doing so mainly by extending/revitalizing the workings of the Uranus/Pluto transit that has been with us since 2011. Expect a continuation of the intense social trends, radical upheaval, political, social and weather extremes all over the planet. Jupiter in Libra in opposition to Uranus in Aries will increase relationship polarization or find you at odds or at war within yourself. Jupiter/Uranus spotlights competing needs, differing opinions or lifestyle choices, social alienation, issues regarding monogamy, personal freedom within relationships, etc. This combination can also see someone or something new overtake you or us. For those looking, a new relationship could be a radical departure from what you usually attract/find attractive or interesting. To be sure, fresh stimulus will be readily found. The year ahead will see many major breakups and breakthroughs.
The transit of Venus is also one to watch. Every 18 months, the net worth, self worth planet goes retrograde. Due to its six-week retrograde cycle which happens from March 3 to April 15, Venus will be on an extended visit to Aries from February 3 to June 6. While in retrograde, Venus will backtrack into Pisces from April 2 to 28. This personal reassessment transit will be especially influential if you have planets in the last few degrees of Pisces or the mutable signs, or the first half of Aries and the cardinal signs. The transit aims to put you back in touch with yourself and your essential needs. Independence, personal rights/freedoms and freedom of expression are causes worth fighting for. When Venus is retrograde, the contrast between what we want/desire and what is gains more attention. Whether you choose it or wrestle with it, a greater degree of dividedness or separation allows for better observation of heart and mind. It is a time to break free of enmeshment or co-dependency, to aim for greater personal freedom. Venus in Aries is a passionate, spontaneous, enthusiastic, ready, willing, and good to go influence. Venus in Aries retrograde an internal heating influence. As such, also an optimum time to work the kinks out of the system before you launch into your next great adventure.
The karmic axis (north and south nodes) switch from the Virgo/Pisces polarity to the Leo/Aquarius polarity in May. The karmic axis transit works along a featured sign axis and eclipse track for an eighteen-month period of intensified evolutionary exploration. Through the end of April will continue to work along the transitional Virgo/Pisces karmic axis. This program has been marked by much loss, uncertainty, crisis, and disillusionment. In bits, pieces, and waves, it has served to progressively reveal the overtaking reality, along with the massive work and upgrade project we have before us. Starting in May, the karmic axis featuring Leo/Aquarius will serve to revolutionize in some dramatic way. Look to the houses of your natal chart to see what the transit will feature for you. The total solar eclipse of August 21 happens at 28 Leo (rising on Trump’s Ascendant.) Dubbed the Great American Eclipse, it is particularly notable as it is the first eclipse in 38 years to cover the continental USA. (The last one happened on February 26, 1979; the one before was March 7, 1970.) Eclipses are influential catalysts in the region where they travel and are also (often more) significantly influential if they make direct contact to your natal chart. The total solar eclipse will cover 10 states, starting with Oregon and ending in South Carolina. Nashville is the largest city that will have the best viewing of this spectacular eclipse.
Overall, the year ahead is an acceleration and breakthrough year for personal lives and the collective journey. It is a year to take a risk on reinventing yourself or your life. This is it, folks. Make each day, each moment account. When life throws you curve ball or you simply can’t figure it out, remember that the universe is abundant and it is always on the move. Put yourself in motion too. Do something, do anything to get yourself launched, then trust the currents to pick you up and to carry where you are meant to travel. Your destiny awaits. Rise up to meet it.
January Overview:
January opens with one more week of Mercury retrograde to go. We can ease into it over the first few days, but watch for the stars to pick up the pace as of January 4. Mercury backtracks out of Capricorn and revisits Sagittarius on this day. It will end retrograde on January 8 and regain Capricorn by the full moon on January 12.
While it is a natural time of year to be wondering about the year ahead, for most of us, the future weighs more heavily on minds and hearts. 2017 will prove to be another pivotal year, for personal lives and for worldly matters too.
January 5/6 can be of significant impact. The sun’s conjunction to Pluto can make you feel driven, forced, or even obsessed to get job done, the objective met, the contract signed, to make it official, to undertake the responsibility, or to get under better control. A timetable, deadline, parent, boss, or authority figure can put the squeeze on. There may be no choice but to tow the line, take it on, or invest your all. On the other hand, sun/Pluto signals a time-is-ripe or time-has-come moment. January 10, the sun squares Uranus; January 11, the sun squares Jupiter and the full moon follows suit on January 12. These few days can thrust the action-switch in some striking way. For some, it’s an ideal time for a vacation. For others, it’s a springboard or switch-track time. Fresh starts, new ventures, initiatives, and relationships are favoured. With Uranus in the mix, know the unexpected can take you by storm. It’s not a time to hold back but to fully invest yourself. Expect an emotionally charged few days. In addition to home, family, and real estate matters, the full moon in Cancer can also spotlight matters to do with public or national safety and security. Mercury’s advance into Capricorn on the full moon can bring official announcements, legislation, or other take-charge action from an institutional body. Venus conjunct Neptune on this same day can take the guesswork out of the equation. A potential can prove itself and/or shape up in some notable/definitive way. Venus/Neptune can bring loss or it can bring fruition. How it plays out for you depends on your own personal chart.
Aquarius month begins on January 19. On this same day, Mars in Pisces turns a corner with Saturn. Trump’s inauguration takes place on January 20 with the moon in Scorpio. Some will see this event as full of promise and the rest will feel a monumental sense of loss and hopelessness. Despite the pressure, venting, sense of doom or dread that Mars/Saturn can produce the day before, overall the inauguration should go off without a hitch, with the markets and the world watching.
Venus squares Saturn on the new moon in Aquarius on January 27. On this same day, Mars enters Aries. This is a mobilizing influence for money, business, movers, shakers, relationships, fighters, and war-mongers. Mars in Aries will stay on fired-up through the beginning of March. Expect to do battle or to feel freshly inspired and motivated.

Dates to watch: January 4 – 6, 8 – 13, 15, 16, 18 – 20, 26, 27, 29, 31
ARIES March 19/20 – April 19
Mercury begins the year in retrograde, but that’s not a statement regarding your year ahead! Quite the contrary. You can write off the first couple of days, but as of January 5-ish, you’ll start to pick up better steam. Venus freshly into Pisces and Mars in this same sign keep you on the go, but less visibly/more privately so. Once Mars enters Aries at the end of January, you’ll hit full-tilt go.
The transiting sun makes several staging aspects from January 6 through the full moon in Cancer on January 12. Expect this mobilizing timeframe to be of major impact regarding what was, what is, and where its going. The full moon in Cancer on January 11 can put emotions on edge and/or hit you in your vulnerable spot. You have needs, they have needs. Mercury advance into Capricorn on this same day sets a new reality into play. The full moon also coincides with Venus conjunct Neptune. It can be a loving, inspirational, romantic, and creative influence. The transit puts you in touch with something you feel is of ultimate value, know it consciously or not. Venus/Neptune can make you more open and receptive. On the other hand, it can make you more susceptible and vulnerable. Coinciding with the full moon, can expose that which is already on brew, plus or minus. Something you’ve been sensing or feeling your way along can become more tangible and real, uncertainty could switch to confirmation, a potential could reveal more of its promise, or it could be time to face up to a loss, to let it go and to move beyond. This full moon can bring fruition or a timely wrap up for real estate, career, or family matters.
2017, year of the Fire Rooster dishes up a fresh start, new chapter, or a springboard year. Both Mars and Venus are hot stuff in Aries through February. Mars will move on in March, but due to a retrograde cycle, Venus will extend her stay through the start of June. Uranus in Aries keeps you/life on the fast track for the entire year ahead.
TAURUS April 19 – May 20
Start of the year finds you with a lot to process. How confident, secure, or ready are you? Mercury retrograde, through January 8, calls for a rethink. The sun conjunct Pluto on January 6 can be motivating in some compelling, transformative way. Whether you are at the start or the finish line, or even somewhere between, its imperative that make a full commitment, that you dive in with both feet. The full moon on January 12 may make that statement more obvious and/or show you what needs to be tightened up. By the end of January, Mercury will finally catch up to Pluto. This completes a six-week staging cycle. February through birthday month will see you do a lot of living. One thing dominos on another; you’ll move through the paces in a relatively short period of time.
Venus will still be retrograde for most of Mars’ transit through Taurus, marking April/May as an important personal regroup and/or stoke-the-fire time. By the end of May you will have reached a goal post, or feel that you have hit a wall and can go no further. If you can make full use of the stars in the first five months of the year, you’ll feel you will have set a good platform for the rest of the year. Only the strong survives, the rest takes you through the process of streamlining your life, your plans and your intentions. June forward sets you onto the next track or task. If you haven’t didn’t get that platform built in the first portion of the year, you’ll have another shot at it in the second half. As of May, the karmic axis puts greater emphasis on home, family, real estate, career and professional development.
GEMINI May 20 – June 20
Jupiter in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn, and Uranus in Aries are formidable agents of change in 2017. A radical lifestyle, relationship, career, or economic change is quite possible. Whether directly or indirectly, someone could play the instigator. A new love, interest, social trend or cause could take your world by storm. A career move or contract could be quite lucrative. Jupiter in Libra could bring love or benefit to your children (i.e a wedding, new additions to the family.) Life is about taking risks. Don’t hesitate to go out on a limb or fight for a better life, for more freedom, prosperity, love, or material gain.
January is out the gate with Mercury travelling retrograde in Capricorn, but it won’t stay there for long. By January 4, Mercury dips back into Sagittarius and by January 8, Mercury stations direct. Go ahead, take a few days to get yourself sorted out, but don’t dawdle! January 5/6 through the full moon on January 12, the stars load all the bases. Make the most of the moment, no matter how it strikes or takes you by surprise.
January 19, 27, 29, and 31 can be critical pressure-point, or face-it/do-it days, but for the most part, the second half of the month keeps you motoring along quite well. February and May/June are fast-track/peak action months. August, September to December also put you/life on the major move.
CANCER June 20 – July 22
Mercury on a backtrack of Capricorn and Sagittarius calls for you to reassess career, work, health, and fix-it methods and ambitions. Are you thinking realistically? Do you feel thwarted by circumstance? Do you need more training, experience, investment, or advice? The sun’s conjunction with Pluto on January 6 and Mercury’s conjunction with Pluto on January 29 book-end the month. A reality is shaping up in no uncertain terms. Progressively you’ll get a better grip on it. Both suggests fundamental changes are necessary regarding how you show up in the world, what is legitimate and true for you, how you communicate, what you observe, what you hear, and how you process feedback.
January 6 through the full moon on January 12 sets the play in motion. Someone could block you, put added pressure on you, compete with you, or put you on hold. A conflict with authority, a legal process, a manager, decision maker, or a key someone could give you a run for it. You can feel hard done in by the your reality and/or the unexpected, but there’s good opportunity too. You have no choice but to stay ambitious and on top of it. Do so and you stand to gain. Creativity is one of your best resources -that, and your loving heart. The control is not in your hands, you are subjected to external forces. Still, the responsibility lies with you to get the priorities straight and to work your way to better vantage point. Late January through February is the first action peak of the year, but know there’s really no let up – and no time to waste. Do the work, get the results. Look to August onward for harvest time.
LEO July 22 – August 22
If you didn’t get out the night before to celebrate the change of the calendar (and even if you did), January 1 is good for getting your social fill.
Mercury in retrograde through January 8 gives you extra time to get yourself up and running, but there’s no reason to wait. The sun will be forging ahead as of January 6 when it aligns with Pluto. It’s an optimum time to get down to business and on top of the priorities. Renew commitments; streamline as necessary.
The couple of days before the full moon on January 12 can send a particular issue or relationship over the top. It’s good to confront it or finish it off. On the other hand, a substantial commitment or risk could be required. To be sure, no fence sitting is allowed. If you can get a good grip on the reality, you stand to gain.
The Chinese New Year of the Fire Rooster is especially opportune for you. Mars into Aries, starting January 27 and Venus into Aries, starting February 3 are definitely good for starters. The Leo full moon lunar eclipse on February 10 could bring the exceptional to pass. Birthday month and the total solar eclipse on August 21 are another peak period for opportunity and/or radical reinvention. By all means, aim high, expect a lot from yourself, and go for the gusto.
VIRGO August 22 – September 22
While Mercury is on a backtrack until January 8, the transiting sun is on the move with Pluto (January 6), Uranus (January 10) and Jupiter (January 11). It’s a new year, and time is moving on. Its also high time that you had more to show for yourself, for your good efforts, for your pain and suffering too. Yes, you feel that last bit in every fiber of your being. While there’s initially something to face, someone to argue with (it could be yourself), and a few stumbling blocks or pressure points strewn throughout the month (January 10, 12,19, 27, 30), know that you will make good headway in the month ahead.
February can thrust you into the thick of it. Expect to be faced with a fresh challenge, battle, risk, or cause; to feel even more driven and feisty (or frisky!). It’s off or its on, here’s no middle road. A relationship, circumstance, or financial source that is on shaky ground isn’t likely to survive. On the other hand, a new relationship status, or a freer, more independent you holds great promise and possibility. You’ll feel the fullest effects of the February 26 solar eclipse if you are born at the start of September. Relationship wise or financially, it can be an all or nothing, jump in or jump out with both feet time.
LIBRA September 22 to October 22
Mercury retrograde has given you an extended time off, time out, and/or regroup period over the holidays but as January 6, sun/Pluto compel you to get a move on. It’s an appropriate time to refinance, or to make a change in the home. It’s also a time to get recommitted to your future, and to undertake what’s necessary to get yourself better situated and settled. Having said that, the full moon on January 12 and the days before it could be uprooting or thrust the action switch in some major, perhaps unexpected way. If you have been heading in the right direction so far, this time can be especially opportune. If things need to change, then, ready or not, they will.
You can feel swamped with work or working-it-out in the first few weeks of January. By the end of the month it’s springboard time. Mars into Aries at the end of the month and Venus on an extended stay of Aries through the start of June put you into an accelerated lifestyle reinvention track.
Don’t expect to be sitting around wondering what to do; don’t expect anything you meet up with in the year ahead to be small potatoes. Jupiter continues in Libra through mid October, drawing mega fuel from Mars, Venus, Uranus, and Pluto; yes, a big year lies ahead. Have courage, take the initiative, stay creative, be willing to risk your all on a better life and a better world.
SCORPIO October 22 to November 21
Despite Mercury retrograde, aim to make the most of the first few days of the new year.
January 5 through the full moon on January 12 puts priorities on the front burner. It’s a key time for official talks, negotiations, presentations, paperwork, refinancing, important decisions, commitments, and money matters. One door closes, another immediately opens. An ending, completion, or goal met sets a new agenda into fast play. With something to address or get out of the way, January 10 to 12 could prove to be quite opportune.
February will launch you into a busy work or work-it-out cycle. A new job, project, reno, training course, or schedule is well timed. New equipment, tools, help, or a new health regime is also of benefit. Jupiter’s ongoing opposition to Uranus suggests there’s a battle going on behind the scenes, with yourself, with another or others. Too, you may feel there’s not enough of you to go around. It can be hard to take on more when you already have your plate full. A new love interest can spark, but are they free? Are you? For the most part, Jupiter gifts you with hidden aces and saving graces throughout the year. It’s a good transit for working on creative or collaborative projects (for those who are interested in getting pregnant, it’s a good transit for incubating a baby too!). On the other hand, off and on, it’s possible that folks or circumstances can work against you. Be a good listener, keep your eagle eye sharp, and don’t take anything for granted. Keep up with regular health checkups and don’t ignore your body when it wants to talk to you.
August is another peak point/catalytic time of your year ahead. By October, Jupiter will begin its one year tour of Scorpio. It is sure to put you/life on the move again!
SAGITTARIUS November 21 – December 21
The first few days of January may slip by without too much notice but as of January 4, you should find you’re ready to fire it up again. Whether you lay it on yourself or your circumstance make it real, the pressure is on as of January 6. Sun/Pluto is an appropriate influence for renewing a mortgage or loan, or for taking some other official step. Once Mercury retrograde ends on January 8, it will be time to pull out all the stops. The days leading up to the emotional full moon on January 11 can fast track you or see you “break up the concrete” in some significant way. A hello or goodbye can be said.
January 19, 27, and 30 can also be somewhat difficult or pressure-point surpassing dates, but once over the hump, expect to hit a much faster, better track. Mars into Aries, starting January 27, and Venus into Aries, starting February 3, push your refresh button in a major way. A new level of independence, freedom, creative ingenuity, and social opportunity lies ahead. It could be your breakout year. You also stand to gain quite significantly from Saturn in Sagittarius in trine to Uranus for the entire year. Travel, relocation, personal, creative, and lifestyle reinvention are highly favoured by this transit. Saturn/Uranus can also see your children come into their own and/or move into their own independent lives.
Venus in retrograde from March 3 to April 15 could see you take more time out to work yourself out, but you’ll be back into full throttle action as of the end of May/June, and more so into July/August. If you are born Dec 16 to 21, you’ll get the full revolutionizing/liberating impact of Uranus and the solar eclipse on August 21. Of course, the 2017 transits are major movers and shakers for all of us.
CAPRICORN December 21 to January 20
Mercury backtracks out of Capricorn and into Sagittarius on Jan 4. It will complete retrograde in this sign on January 8 and return to Capricorn on the full moon of January 12. Use this time to replenish, to get mentally, emotionally, and physically organized, to give your future a rethink. While a short vacation or time off can do you good, one way or another, January 6 through the full moon thrusts the action switch. Motivation is exceptionally high. You want and need to plug into something new. Marking an end of the road and the start of a new chapter, the sun’s alignment with Pluto on January 6 can pack a punch and/or crystalize it for you in some bottom-line and fundamental way. It can be prompted by circumstance or because you’ve locked onto it inwardly. Watch for your words, deeds, ambition and presence to carry more weight/create more impact. Whether you feel fired-up, or forced, there’s little choice but to move it forward. January 10 – 12 can mark a break-through, brakes come off, or opportunity time. Sun/Uranus and Sun/Jupiter kick it up a big notch. It’s an emotional journey to be sure.
You’ll hit a fast track with home, family, real estate, personal ambitions, projects, and inner resolve from the end of January through the start of March. March through the start of May gives you time to regroup and reassess, to finish what you’ve started and to ready yourself for what comes next. June through October sets the next play in motion. By October forward you’ll be fully engaged or fully entrenched in your lifestyle overhaul.
AQUARIUS January 20 – February 18/19
As of January 4, its time to resurface. The transiting sun gives you plenty to process, to put into play, and to shoot for through the full moon of January 12. It’s optimal time for travel, marketing, research, scouting missions, renovations, relocation, or educational pursuits. You have things to leave behind and fresh things to aim for. A sense of completion or end of the road is accompanied by a fast-growing new need, ambition, or opportunity. January 10 -12 are striking/set major wheels in motion.
Uranus, your ruler, is well facilitated by Saturn for the month of January and through the year ahead. As such, you can expect to be fast-tracked into a new reality. A lifestyle change or new career trajectory are well timed. Adding an edgy feel, Uranus continues on shake-not-stir with Eris for the year ahead. You’ll feel this as a caustic influence when you are not staying true yourself or when you feel you aren’t getting the respect you feel is due. How do you show up for yourself? Do you compete or do you complete yourself? Jupiter in opposition to Uranus (at peak at January’s start, March and end of September) gives you plenty of feedback. Progressively you’ll see and understand yourself more clearly. Certain relationships will feature more prominently. You’ll personally hit a major reboot. Your social world or public profile is set to grow in a new direction too. Watch for someone or something new can take your world by storm. The lunar eclipse of Feb 10 can fire it up for you in some opportune or up-ending way. The solar eclipse of August 21 is also full of exceptional potential.
PISCES February 18/19 to March 19/20
While Mercury retrograde is still in effect until January 8, the transit won’t hold you up much. You can rely on Mars and Venus in Pisces keep your spark well lit. (Mars has been going strong in your sign since December 19; Venus enters your sign January 3). The transiting sun on the move with Pluto (January 6), Uranus (January 10) and Jupiter (January 11) thrust you on ready, set, go. All three sun alignments are meant to help you work through an evaluation process, this regarding a key relationship, financial investments, contracts (karmic and/or actual) and new goal-setting. The transiting moon is also ticking off all the boxes as it works its way to the full moon in Cancer on January 12. The full moon is accompanied by Mercury’s advance into Capricorn and Venus conjunct Neptune. To the plus, you can feel you have something good to show for yourself, that you’ve gained significant ground, and that potentials are showing more solid prospect. The full moon could see a goal or deadline reached, a result or reward in the making, an ultimatum or line in the sand defined, a big step/decision taken, the fruition or launch of something much sought after/desired. On a lighter note, the full moon and days preceding or following are also ideal for travel and vacationing.
Some things are easy to relinquish, surpass or kick-start; some things are not. There’s still struggle, pushing, forcing, or forging ahead to get through. January 19 and 27 are notable dates in this regard. They can see you surpass a hurdle or challenge, reach an objective or deadline. They are also good dates for launching onto a new page or initiative.
Expect to hit a fast and full-tilt all systems go by the end of the month and through the next several. The solar eclipse on February 26 is a major one for all new initiatives. Don’t hesitate to dive into something fresh and new. Life is a risky venture, but know you stand to gain when you are smart about it. Step out of your comfort zone. Something cutting edge or that you consider to be a wild card or a radical choice (within reason of course – don’t go too crazy!), could be a big-time game-changer for you.
