2014 Annual Overview:
If life hasn’t scooped you up or stormed you yet, brace yourself. A pivotal year lies ahead.
Packing a punch to start things off, January 1 delivered a super new moon in Capricorn. Pluto’s influence made that new moon quite a kicker for most folks. The polar vertex brought many lives to a temporary standstill, but the transits for 2014 are sure to jettison each and everyone into an altered reality. Of course, Uranus and Pluto have been on the clock for sometime now, so you may have already hit a sharp turn. Even so, you aren’t done yet. There’s still a lot more to get through. The intensity continues.
Venus in Capricorn puts a more serious spin on money, debt, banks, and the economy. It also spotlights matters to do with accountability, obligation, reputation, professional development, authority, government, management, policies, law, rules, and judgements; also on timelines and deadlines. Parents, seniors, retirement, the quality of life, and the end of life can also raise added concern. Continuing in Capricorn to the beginning of March, don’t expect the Canadian senate scandal, or other political corruption stories disappear quickly. Those who are running countries, wars, banks, businesses, or families are under greater pressure now to get back the control.
Prompting a sober re-evaluation of assets, liabilities, responsibilities, ambitions, goals, and relationships, Venus in Capricorn tours retrograde to Jan 31. During this transit the Canadian dollar has devalued and the reports regarding economic growth are less than the experts had predicted. January offers an appropriate, perhaps even a critical time to reassess, restructure, and refortify your foundations.
Depending on what has been previously built, when Venus tours Capricorn we can meet with consequences or reward. Venus in this sign brings a ripe time or a time come moment. We can find ourselves building the foundation of a new reality, and/or reaching an end or completion point.
The first month started on a super moon and ends on one too. Presiding over the US Super Bowl and the Sochi Olympics, Jan 30 delivers a super new moon in Aquarius. Planets Uranus, Venus, Pluto, and Jupiter are in aspect to this super charged moon. Expect to see big money brokering, major power agendas, erratic weather, fired up social trends or unrest, or perhaps a health epidemic on the rise. Considering what’s already on brew, terrorist activity or violence can be on a “live-wire” feed.
Just as Venus gets a move on and you are ready to hit it full swing, February delivers Mercury retrograde. Mercury begins retrograde in Pisces on Feb 6 and backs into Aquarius for the second half of the month. Watch for the unexpected and remember to add extra safeguards, especially when locking into a contract, purchase, relationship track, or course of action. The cycle is always an optimum time to revisit, revise, or redo.
From the start of March through late May, Mars takes it’s turn in retrograde. Due to this backward turn, Mars spends not six weeks but seven months in the sign of Libra. To the plus, Mars in Libra gives us extra time to break new ground regarding affairs of the heart or wallet. By the same token, Mars in Libra can also drag out a relationship, money, or legal conflict.
Jupiter, the planet of increase and enlarging the scope, continues in Cancer through the middle of July. Jupiter in Cancer can cozy up the home, family, and private life, but on the flipside, it increases the need, the insecurity, and the vulnerability – this at the personal, domestic, agricultural, food production, and national levels. Jupiter in Cancer also puts added emphasis on the welfare and needs of our children. Expect for more lost or trapped ones to be found, and still others to go missing. Along with Mars in Libra, we are likely to a more robust trend of child adoptions among same sex couples. China has just relaxed its one child per family policy.
Mars turns up the heat on matters to do with partnership, marriage, romance, alliances, social involvements, social causes, co-creative or cooperative ventures, relationship dependency or enmeshments. Also watch for new social trends catch a strong wind. Activating the revolutionary Uranus/Pluto transit through the spring, Mars in Libra will keep the fight for justice and social rights going strong, so expect more social unrest, conflict, and rebellion, especially in April. Jupiter’s contribution greatly increases the emotional tides. Money markets are likely to be more volatile too.
Mars in Libra, Jupiter in Cancer, Uranus in Aries, and Pluto in Capricorn form a cardinal cross alignment. We are already feeling the effects of this dynamic configuration which will continue to be activated through June. In April, Mercury and the sun in Aries add to the configuration in April, Venus in Aries is a contributor in May. This is pressure cooker time. Expect to see a lot of action on all fronts. With Aries in the mix, this can be a time when violence and aggression erupts. It is likely to be a time of protests, riots, bloodshed, war, etc. Accidents are always possible when Uranus and Mars are activated. Don’t take chances with your safety. Weather extremes (such as fires, floods, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, etc.) are quite likely too.
April delivers two eclipses: April 15 Libra/Aries lunar eclipse and April 28, Taurus solar eclipse; and the first of two Uranus/Pluto alignments (April 21) for the year. Jupiter’s advance into Leo in late July can boost success ratios for fire signs, for innovative, creative, and entrepreneurial endeavours, the entertainment industry, and the rich. Although there is talk of recovery, Saturn in Scorpio and Uranus/Pluto keep debt and recession challenges ongoing. Economic recovery is a complicated matter. So too, is oil production, oil pipelines, and energy self sufficiency. While Mars travels through Libra, accord, agreements, partnership, collaborative projects, and win/win alliances are the aim, but it isn’t always easy to achieve, especially when there’s so much at stake.
By September/October, Jupiter in Leo and Uranus in Aries are on the upbeat. This can be a time of added optimism or of launching successful new ventures, relationships or lifestyles. The lunar eclipse on Oct 8 is sparked by Uranus, Jupiter and Mars in a fire grand trine. Oct 23 delivers a solar eclipse at 0 Scorpio, with Venus conjunct. If they haven’t moved ahead earlier in the year, perhaps interest rates could rise or pipeline and oil deals could advance. Surely these transits will put something major into motion. While the political campaigning for 2015 (Canada) and 2016 (USA) elections will already have begun, we’ll are likely to see a ramp-up through the last quarter of 2014.
ARIES (March 21- April 19)
It’s not a possibility, it’s a probability. Your life will do a one-eighty turn in 2014. Get set for a year of extreme change. This will be especially so if your birthday falls on or just before April 14 through April 19. If you are born in the first week of April, you can also expect for life to jettison you into something new.
Through the beginning of March, Venus in Capricorn calls for a major re-assessment and restructuring of priorities, commitments, ambitions, and goals, especially those involving your career, material, mentoring and/or parenting status. Use the month of January to figure out what’s most important.

March through late May, redirects your personal, social or professional status. You’ll make major strides in relationship matters through July thanks to Mars in Libra.
TAURUS (April 20 -May 20)
Time is moving forward and so are you. As Venus, your ruler, moves through Capricorn, you’ll gain a better sense of direction. “Must-do” or “should” becomes much more obvious. Consider January as your build-up to it month. To Jan 31, Venus retrograde calls for you to take stock, to strengthen, restructure, and refortify from within.
Put ambition to work, especially in the first quarter of 2014 and you’ll gain tremendously.
While Venus in Capricorn can be a confidence builder, Mars in Libra makes you very aware of the work, the correction, and the healing that is still needed. Yes, you have a long haul ahead of you. In fact, you are slated for extra sweat through the end of 2015. Don’t look at that as a sentencing. After all, you want more, don’t you? The objective or goal is most definitely worthy. It’s up to you to enhance your odds.
The objective, improvement or upgrade is one that is worth the effort. There’s an objective to reach for and it’s one that you should feel you want to work for. Do the work, gain results, it’s as simple as that.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21)
The New Year’s start is natural time for a personal reassessment. Venus in Capricorn and in retrograde to Jan 31 helps you to do just that. Are you on track health, wealth and relationship wise? Is your career shaping up? You may not know for sure where you are heading, but that’s not the place to start. Rather, put the focus on asking yourself this question – what do you really want? If you can’t answer that question, then ask yourself another – what don’t you want? While Venus is in Capricorn, it is wise to take you time, to let the answers naturally take shape inside of you. Once you get that part of the equation sorted out, the next question is – how deeply are you willing to commit to your desire – to the change or upgrade you so desire?
Due to a retrograde cycle in the spring, Mars will tenant Libra through July. That’s a very long time to be gifted with such good fuel. This influence signals a break-through or “take-off” time for creative and professional pursuits, for romance, and for matters to do with children.

It can put you back in the game in some way, especially in the second half of the month, but remember Mercury retrograde is best used for revisions, revisits, and second winds, rather than a completely fresh start. Trial runs or temporary undertakings are okay too.
